I called BG construction and asked for a quote. He came out promptly and his quote was very…read morereasonable. He was ready to work the weekend but I put him off until Monday, because of it being Mothers day, and a family birthday. He said he would be here at 8:00 am "Sharp". I was surprised to hear anyone in the building trades to use the word "sharp". On Monday he was here at 8:00 on the nose. He reminded me that I was going to do some more backfilling before it was to be poured or it would take more concrete. I had forgotten with all the weekend activity. No problem with Buck, I started backfilling and he and his helper joined in. The concrete pour went well. I was also taken back because the truck driver grabbed a shovel and delivered concrete into the forms. I have built several houses and I have never seen a driver do that! Everything went smoothly and they continued to work the concrete and make it "Perfect". When It came time to pay, I said "How Much?" because he had an opportunity to up the price because they worked to help me back fill. He said let's just keep it at how much I quoted. I was left very impressed with Buck Gomes. He said what he would do and did it in a very timely manner. He was a very pleasant guy on the job and around the house. He made sure that the concrete was perfect. They cleaned everything up nicely, and we had taken plywood from another spot to allow us them to bridge the gaps with a wheel barrel, they replaced them to where they had come from. I would recommend Buck Gomes of BG Construction (831) 595-8806) to anyone who needs excavation, concrete work, septic installation and repair and more.

The crew was friendly, professional, incredibly hard working and we are happy to have such a better driveway now with improved drainage and for such a reasonable price. They worked with care, professionalism, humor and had good communication throughout. They kept our property as clean as they could during the entire job. Ismael and Isabel cut, dug and leveled all the areas. They have their own equipment and it's amazing to see just two people handle such a large job. He supervised the concrete walk install as he subcontracted this work out. In the middle of digging, they encountered a concrete slab from an old garage and driveway. It was not part of the bid to remove, so Ismael provided us with various options, pros/cons for what should be done and the costs. The most cost efficient option was to keep the slab removing all of the loose concrete and level with additional asphalt. Of the 3000 SQFT of grading he did, there is a slight puddle that occurs during the rain between the concrete and asphalt area. The water clears quickly though. Pretty amazing considering the slope of our driveway. I would enthusiastically hire them again!

Verde Enterprises - Getting ready to place concrete

I recently had the opportunity to work with Steve Carrera, owner of Verde Enterprises, Inc. I…read moreneeded a variety of excavation and concrete work done on my 5 acres in North Monterey County. I had three other contractors look come out to give me estimates. They took measurements, glanced at the grades and soil types, and later sent an estimate. The process with Steve was different from the time he stepped out of his truck. He wanted to know what I wanted the finished projects to look like, and how I wanted them to function. He asked questions and made observations about each element of the project. He took time to explain elements that would have an effect on the final outcome, and listened to my questions and concerns. By the end of our visit, I understood the project at a different level than before, and I knew I wanted him to do the work. His estimate was reasonable, and as the work progressed, I discovered that he saved me more money in the long run with his attention to detail than I would have saved going with the lowest bid I had received. He works with a small experienced crew and all of them were polite, professional and informative. His daughter, Megan is on the crew. I liked that. My own daughter is a Captain for a local Fire Department and I know competent women belong on a job site. The entire process was like working with trusted neighbors, if you are lucky enough to have neighbors with 30 years' experience in excavation and concrete work. The Initial Projects: * Relacing the rotten wooden floor of a small barn with a concrete floor so it is now a beautiful workshop. * Engineering a parking slab outside our garage that provided drainage from the roof and water softener, but allowed Steve to maintain the grade of the circular gravel drive. * Over three hundred and fifty feet of gravel drive. Excavated and packed, with gopher wire and support cloth under the entire length. And framed with treated 2x6s. After seeing the quality of the work, my wife and I added: * An ADA compliant walkway from the front door to the parking area. * A pad/footing for a tractor shed. * Drainage for the entire roof. * An additional 250' gravel drive to a small guest house on the property. * Replacing a board walkway with a cement sidewalk at the guest house. I recommend Steve and Verde Enterprises, Inc without hesitation. I seldom give 5-star reviews. A 4-star rating from me means that everything was done correctly, to professional standards, and completely met my expectations. A 5-star rating means my expectations were exceeded at every phase and in each element of a project. That said, if I could, I would rate Steve Carrera and Verde Enterprises at 6-Stars. **I have given Steve permission to give my contact information to sincere customers who would like to know more about how my property and family were treated by his family. Because it is obvious he treats his crew and customers as family.

Fortunately for me, I was able to get in touch with Steve with Verde Enterprises. He happened to be leaving a job and said he could be there in 30 minutes. He arrived promptly and exposed the dry rot in the areas of concern, developed a material list, and said I'll see you in the morning (on a Saturday). After about 6 hours of his craftsmanship, the identified areas of concern were repaired better than new. Due to his prompt response, the sale didn't fall apart. I'm not one to post reviews too often but felt his service went above and beyond and was well warranted.

Of the three, Carlos was the ONLY one who kept his appointment and returned a bid quickly. After receiving his bid, we pondered the idea of a pool renovation instead of demo. Carlos had followed up with us and inquiring if we wanted to move forward with the demo. I had mentioned to Carlos we were now entertaining the idea of a renovation. He was understanding and asked us to contact him if we made a decision to go the demo route. This past week, Carlos followed up with us. Although we had decided days before to go with the pool renovation, I was very impressed with Carlos, his responsiveness, and his customer service. Although we can't speak to the actual demolition experience, I can say Carlos and his company deserves high regards for what has been previously mentioned.

His bid covered most thoroughly for material and labor and the price was very reasonable. on the day of the estimate, Carlos took his time to answer my questions, show me pictures and videos of the jobs he had done, which was helpful to me, being a visual person. I had to go back and forth with Carlos with questions and answer. He was prompt in responding and straight to the point when explaining things to me. He and his team did a great job in the sewer replacement. They came early on the days of the job and work diligently to complete the work. It was a pretty extensive job, digging two holes, one on the street, one on my property, then SDR 17 pipe was pulled from my property to the main. The Seaside city required the work to include paving the street with 20 ft by 10 ft asphalts to covered the hole on the street. That had took the whole day, but it was beautifully done. The material and amount of work required was actually more than the estimate, but Carlos stuck with the price of the bid. I really appreciate Carlos work ethic. I had worked with several contractors and they had all charged me additional cost on top of the bids. I would recommand Carlos for his professionalism, great communication and honesty.
