I was told yes, it's treated as aluminum, but to hold a minute and they'd check for sure. She came back and said yes, she'd checked and it was treated that way. When I got there, I was told that it would be "dirty" aluminum, since there was a piece of plastic at the very top of the ladder, which was bolted on. As a result, it was worth 15 cents/lb rather than 50 cents/lb. Had I been told that when I called, I would have spent 5 minutes unbolting the plastic. As it was, I got almost enough out of it to pay for the gas to get it there. So, just be aware that even if you call with a specific question about a specific item and get an answer, you might get a different answer when you actually get there.

Pro tip: Recycling is free and does not count against your four free bulk load drop offs. Bring recycling separately as I did today. I arrived at 2pm on a Thursday and there was a line to check-in. Upon entering the facility you must show your drivers license, latest water bill and have your vehicle weighed. And then you weigh again prior to leaving the facility if you're disposing of garbage. Second weighing not required for recycling. ;-) The recycling area is well marked with signage and organized. It's nice they are open on the weekends, Thursday through Monday, closed Tuesday and Wednesday. The staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!

This landfill did cost us $43 for the entire truck bed, which was steep, but we were in and out quickly. They do not accept tires and you must wear a safety vest- plan accordingly! The staff is super friendly and they have a fool proof tag system for getting your debit card back after dumping. Line went fairly quickly and we'd definitely be back!

Sadly I ran into this again today. I found some material on the ground and set it on a ledge. I asked if they could sell me some of the same materials. The staffer was rude, asked how I'd feel if he went into my car and grabbed stuff. He also said he'd 86 me if I did it again. This was unnecessary and needlessly unprofessional. I simply was putting it into a more obvious place than the ground. After all if I dropped something I'd appreciate someone picking something up if I dropped it. No good deed goes unpunished here apparently. I was so flabbergasted I didn't respond with a better explanation but it's a situation I never should've happened. The only reason I have given them two stars rather than one is because the gal at the counter was very nice as she usually is. Still overall disappointed with the whole experience.

They had the metal Mr. P was looking for, and he even arranged for the pieces to be cut. The purchase process was friendly and simple. The worker who cut the pieces was really friendly, and even put the metals in the back of our truck for us. American Metals also purchases scrap, which was notable at a yard to the north, separate from metal purchasing.
