This local pub draws a lot of regulars as well as the occasional visitor like me. They have daily food specials. Corned beef with all usual was featured the day of our visit since it was St Pats Day!! Sunday they feature their fried chicken (always on the menu but a reduced price on Sunday). We had 7 of us and 2 ordered the chicken. It is good! My selection was the chicken pot pie. It had an even mixture of veggies and chicken- big pieces of chicken too. The crust is only on the top and a bit thinner than what I typically see but still it was pretty good. I was curious about the fried bologna sandwich so I ordered one to cut up as an appetizer for the table. It was yummy of course. Horrible for you but yummy. Portions here tend toward the larger side. Our service was fair- waitress was friendly but very forgetful. Bar staff is also outgoing and happy to help. They have a good beer selection, full bar of spirits but limited wine options. But at least they have wine! read more

My husband ordered a drink from a male bartender and a rude, out of control girl brought it 15mins later and it was watered down and he was not happy with it. She literally challenged his dislike for the drink stating "that's what you ordered!" Her name is Kenzie and she continued to engage in a highly inappropriate verbal exchange with my husband and I. She first began with him and then refused to serve his food and literally shoved it at him. She said to him, "are you going to eat or are you leaving" as she served everyone else at the table except him. I had to get up and confront her with her outrageousness! She continued to escalate her crazy behavior towards paying customers!!! If she were my employee, I would fire her on the spot! Our experience at this restaurant was shocking and disgraceful! Kenzie wasn't even our waitress, so not sure why she was accosting us like she was. She even came over with a broom and was sweeping right near us while we were eating! Our actual waitress's name was Elsie, pleasant and efficient! There were four of us and we will never go into your restaurant again because of her. She is definitely disturbed and a detriment to your restaurant. We will spread the word! read more

I sat for fifteen minutes waiting to be served, when I was eventually waited on me and my two boys ordered wings. Couple next to us came in ten minutes after we did. We walked in at 8 am on a Sunday morning, two other tables were present. The service was awful....it took minutes to get a drink while everyone was moving at an extremely slow pace with no concern of people's time. In ordered a standard breakfast with an egg, pattied sausage and toast. The sausage was inedible- it was as hard as a rock. Everything else was ok. No flavor, just your regular breakfast. I was super excited to see a new restaurant in town but completely let down in ways of service and food. I would give zero stars, but the interior is at least updated... Everyone I've met so far here has been very polite, very welcoming and quick on getting what you need. We absolutely love Cory beyond the bar. Amazing attitude, very sweet and she has better hair than Axel Rose!! Lol The FOOD......Pretzel Sticks and Beer cheese..... AMAZING! The burgers are really Great!! Love that new owners came to this pub! Menu is very similar to when it was Merz. They are still undergoing remodeling but already it's such an improvement! We checked out the AYCE fried chicken. The pic is of the first plate. They give you 3 pieces of either white, dark or mixed with 2 sides. Chicken was delicious and you can order as much more as you want. The fries were hot, crispy and tasty too. They sprinkle a little salt and pepper for nice spice. The staff was so friendly. And they DO NOT charge you to use a credit card. Instead they offer a 4% discount if you pay cash. We were there early and by the time we left at 6:30 the place was packed. I think the new owners are on their way to doing really well!! Typical bar with bar food. Not the best columbia has to offer but it works when you're hungry and in need of some food! The wings are great but that's really about it. Service can be slow at times and I find it weird they have all these tvs but they are never on and the only music that plays is from the kitchen. I guess whatever floats your boat. Makes it hard to have a conversation because I feel like everyone can hear my whole conversation. Last time we went both my parents were ill after eating here. us kids stuck to wings and burgers and they ventured out to chili and meatloaf so maybe that was the issue. If you're looking for a burger and wings this is not a bad place to stop and eat at especially if you're alone. read more

I used to go to Merz on Main all the time; loved their chicken and fish. I had a chance to go to the new incarnation of the little Columbian pub last week. I had to comment. I was disappointed. The side portions were all smaller than before (please note this, pub owner) and there were no rolls. The two sides myself and my friends liked the best (Stewed Tomatoes and German Potato Salad) were no longer on the menu. The menu was smaller, items a little more expensive, and there are only two varieties of fish available now, Cod and Catfish. The fried chicken is still there and just as delicious. Construction is going on and that's a plus. I hope the owners can remedy the other things. read more

Stopped by for lunch while in the area. We were seated immediately despite the place being almost full to capacity. Service was great. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and my guest got the daily burger special. Both were excellent. Would for sure return again next time in the area. The new owner is trying to make what was a nice local pub in to something fancy at the cost of food portions and prices. After two visits since the new ownership this will probably be my last time. I used to frequent this place until they started charging 4% for using your debit/check card. They are not giving a discount, they ad a surcharge onto their regular prices. Although the law and their cc agreement, allow them to give a cash discount up to 4% off the regular price, they ad 4% not discount the regular price, and they cannot surcharge credit cards on the posted price. (They can give you a cash discount off that price) Check/debit cards per federal law and Visa/MC rules are exempt from discounts and surcharges, because the retailer only pays a swipe fee. A surcharge is when a merchant charges a customer an additional fee to cover the cost of accepting credit cards. The surcharge is a percentage of the sales amount and cannot exceed 4 percent or what the merchant pays in swipe rates. Surcharges cannot be levied on debit cards or prepaid credit cards. It's important to note that a merchant cannot add a fee on top of the usual price of an item and then give a discount at the register if the customers pays cash. (See the passage of the Durbin Amendment in 2010) Dodd Franck Act sec 920 The hamburger I bought was excellent. The place is remodeled nice, but they also raised the beer prices about a third, and that ran all the regulars out. After I complained to Visa/MC I was assured Washy's was schooled on the laws, but obviously did not change anything. If you use your debit/check card and charged a fee, your bank will have the charge taken off. My bank has done that for me 9 times, but I feel it is not worth my effort to keep going to the place. read more
