The conductors are friendly; it's the MARC train so you can buy your breakfast sandwich and coffee in the coffee shop and bring it with you. Or buy your coffee at the nearby gas station. (Rumors are swirling that the gas station is soon to be a Wawa. ) I get a commuting subsidy that covers the entire cost of a month's ticket which is half price due to my senior status. There are a couple of Montgomery County Ride-on buses that have nearby stops. Tip for the return from DC: Not all the doors open up to let the folks off the train. Look for the portable metal steps -- the conductors usually place them near the doors that open.

Nine MARC trains stop here on weekdays, ten on Friday evenings going northbound. There is a brick shelter, built in the 1800s on the northbound side which has a coffee shop and seating inside. Perfect for those cold mornings. There's also an Amtrak ticket kiosk if you need to purchase a one way or round trip ticket. Be careful because you have to cross the tracks to catch Southbound trains to DC. There is the Olde Towne parking garage across Summit Avenue which is easily accessible by a pedestrian bridge. The garage fills up pretty rapidly, if you want covered parking, it's best to arrive before 7:30 am, be careful not to park in spaces reserved for the apartment residents or city employees, you may get towed.

There's also plenty of parking available in the garages, making it convenient to visit. In the summertime, they also have music and night market in the Crown Park. Just a fun center to dine, shop, and unwind for happy hour, on weeknights, or the weekend.

Decided to visit the area yesterday and sit at a bench eating some tacos from a nearby food truck. The weather was great and most of everyone I had seen walking by were social distancing and trying to wear a mask as much as possible. I would say to just be careful when dining at some of the local restaurants as seating doesn't necessarily appear to be 6 feet apart. By far, this area has one of the best Starbucks locations I've been to. Service is wonderful and the baristas perfect your drinks. Coastal flats is also a very good option for dinner if you're into seafood. Personally, I think Paladar is a bit overpriced but if you want to splurge for one night I would recommend it. There's plenty of parking in the area both street and garage. In my opinion, it appears to be a really safe neighborhood and place to hang out. Would recommend to anyone looking for something to do during this quarantine.

It seemed like the first 3 floors are now set with a max of 3 hours and the time to park free is a bit more limited than before. Times have changed, I guess. After parking, I went to pay at one of the stand-alone machines. I entered my ticket, and, in a few seconds, the machine gave me back my ticket. Nothing on the screen changed. I tried again, same thing. So, I guess there was no charge for me to park. I got ready to exit through the gates and the thing prompted me to pay, so I guess the stand-alone machine wasn't working then. I wished they had put something on that stand-alone machine to state it wasn't working. I'll know for the next time to make sure some sort of amount is shown when validating my ticket (lesson learned). Note: When exiting by the gate, it doesn't take cash, and you may not always get a receipt. Per their website here is today's cost: 0 to 90 minutes (FREE). 90 minutes to 3 hours ($3). 3 to 4 hours ($4). 4 to 5 hours ($5). 5 to 8 hours ($8). Daily Maximum or Lost Ticket $20.

They are open until 7pm most weekdays, so if you want service...make sure you get here before 7pm. We arrived at 6:45 and a staff member with a golf kart met us (after calling them on the radio), showed us to our parking spot, pushed the plane back AND tied it down for us while getting our luggage to the gate. It was incredible. The FBO staff were super helpful in giving me the number to a few mechanics (spark plugs needed cleaning) on the field and even offered us some water. Parking is $15/day, but they were incredibly sweet to waive our fees for the entire 3 days with a top off. Usually they only waive one day with a 20 gallon purchase, but they were super nice to us! Getting to DC from this airport isn't too bad. You can take a Lyft/Uber directly to DC for about $40-45 (about a 35minute ride) or take a bus/taxi/Uber to the train station ($~10-15 for the taxi) and then take the train into DC($5). All in all, until I get the FRZ requirements out of the way to fly into College Park, I'll be sure to return to Montgomery if going to DC. They provided amazing service. There is also a diner right at the airport with has decent lunch and you can watch the planes taking off as you eat. Seems like a lot of locals go there.

He always mentioned he wanted to get his flying license one day, so it was a good gift. I'm so rad. It was cold as a witch's teat and the winds were high. Our instructor was super affable and knowledgeable too. I had my camera ready and was set to snap pictures from the ground when the instructor asked me if I'd like to fly along. I was scared, to be honest, since Welshie was manning the plane, but the instructor has full control as well. It was a stomach-dropping, squeal-inducing, 20-minute flight and it was quite freeing. I did think I was going to die, though. Our instructor even said that the winds were so bad that he was going to cancel the rest of his lessons. Nice. Overall, it's a great little airpark and learning to fly is awesome. It's not cheap if you want to get your license--you're probably looking at about $10K when it's all said and done. I highly recommend trying it out at least once, though.
