I love Washington Park. It's not the biggest park in Cincinnati but it has so much to offer. Across the street from Music Hall and a few blocks from Findlay Market, the location is great. Space for relaxing or playing in the grass, a playground, a small dog park enclosure, and I love the water park/fountain area. There is always some type of fun event going on in the warm weather months. LumenoCity, Movie night, City Flea and free work outs like Boot Camp and Yoga. It's a great place to people watch and enjoy the outdoors. read more

Not being from Cincinnati I cannot fully appreciate what this park means to OTR but from what I've heard from long time Cincinnati residents, this park has done amazing things for this area of town. The 8 acres of park is filled with fountains you can run through, children's playgrounds, plentiful lighting and benches, a large green open space for activities and from what I can tell numerous events making use of the space. From the green space there is a wonderful view of Music Hall. We attended a jazz concert last night in the park which was truly an incredible experience. The musicians were playing from the center bandstand which was set off by string lighting and hanging artwork. There was a very diverse crowd all loving life and enjoying the musical ambiance. We were able to bring our own food and there was the option to buy alcoholic beverages at a park concession building. There is a dog park which seemed like heaven for the dogs who were rambunctiously playing there. We parked on the street but there is a parking area underneath the park. The park certainly seems one of the best I've experienced and hopefully it is a critical element to the revitalization of this historic Cincinnati neighborhood. read more

I love the concept of Washington Square park--a revitalized center for urban family fun in the heart of downtown. Plentiful and inexpensive parking underneath. Regular planned weekend activities, fairs, etc. And the reality is pretty darn good too. On a recent Saturday, we brought our toddler-age son and he had an absolute blast running through the fountains and playing on all the playground equipment. There are some really unique features for the little ones--a big sandpit, giant chimes and mallets, a "castle" for climbing and playing pretend, a big wooden ship, small "grass" covered hills of various sizes, etc. It's pretty friendly for lots of different ages and can accommodate a lot of kids at one time. On weekend days, particularly when there is a scheduled event of some kind, it can get a bit too crowded for full enjoyment, but that's obviously a minor complaint. It kept our little one entertained for hours, so we will definitely be back! read more

Washington Park is our refuge when in Cincinatti. It's a gem. You can take your kids here and let them run loose like the wild beasts they are. There's a great splash park that lights up at night, a castle playground, a pirate ship! My kids love this place. And so do I because I get a little space. Lots of events happen here in the summer. I've even seen the Breeders play (amongst several other decent bands). This is the kind of park every medium sized city needs. Washington Park also known as my front yard ;) is awesome! I love walking through the park, checking out their nightly events, and just hanging out. the fountains\playground are a great spot for kids (and adults) to play. Also the perfect place to bring your dog for a walk or just to hang out at the dog park. They have been working very hard to host lots of cool events from city flea, luminosity, movie nights, concerts, etc. You can often hear the music from the park playing throughout the city-its really nice. My favorite thing to do is walk through the park and then head over to anchor on Thursday nights for $1 oysters. Now you can also rent a bike close by and go for a ride to lots of the cool places really close by: Music Hall, Memorial Hall, Anchor, Vine St. restaurants, Sloane, Article, etc. City hot spot for sure! We really love this park, particularly the dog park. We love bringing our lab mix down on the weekends to run around...he was a little shy at first, but he seems to be coming around. I love that parking is so easy...and cheap! I also love that the park is right in front of Music Hall, which is one of my favorite buildings in Cincinnati. It really is a beautiful park with lots of green space. The fountains look like a blast - we've only been once or twice with them on - and the playground looks like heaven for a kid. And did I mention the parking? My only complaint is this, and it's starting to become a deal breaker. The dog park has no rules relating to non-neutered male dogs, and the rules that it does have - i.e. no unaccompanied children under 12, no unsupervised dogs - are not well enforced AT. ALL. We've seen young kids on numerous occasions running around the park without a parent in sight, and many of them have no idea how to interact with animals. I'm also not a fan of all the non-neutered males running around, especially because many of them are aggressive breeds. I wish Washington Park would put a rule in place against this - and actually enforcing it would be event better. We actually saw a woman last weekend bring her non-neutered bull mastiff, drop him inside the gate and then walk away. Are you kidding me?? Some people are totally clueless. I would have really appreciated a park employee there to correct her behavior. read more

This is a beautiful park that is offering so many ways for locals and visitors to enjoy an outdoor space. While I haven't been able to do all the events they host, I've been pleased with the City Flea, tree lighting, music, movies, yoga and workouts. My nieces and nephews enjoy the splash ground and playground area, although I find it a little nerve-wrecking to keep an eye on all the kids when it is crowded. I'm envious of the people who take their lunch break at this beautiful outdoor space. It also offers plenty of people watching, a dog park, and plenty of great green grass for picnicking or snoozing in the sunshine. read more

When you find someplace in the city that serves all of the above purposes in the same way Washington Park does, please let me know, because I am hard pressed to think that another space in our area will ever top it. read more

There is nothing better than getting here on a warm summer eve after you enjoyed a great dinner in OTR. The fountains are so entertaining and offer a cool splash in the sticky season. The new bar and the patio have become my new favorite Friday eve spot. So relaxing. And they have free live music in the weekends! Easy and good! read more

I love this Cincinnati gem! I worked at Music Hall when this place was unsafe, but beautiful. I would stare out the window, longing to enjoy the park and its gazebo. The transformation is remarkable! The park is even more beautiful and safe! It is filled with residents and dogs of all ages - from laughing children to quiet old souls. Activities fill the green space most nights and weekends - be sure to check the calendar of events; I bet you'll find an activity you'd enjoy. The water feature and playground are fun attractions. The dog park is great place to play for city dogs and to entertain non-dog owners, like me. The tall trees offer a calming spot to relax. And the gazebo shines as the centerpiece of it all. LOVE. I can't say enough about the amazing transformation that Washington Park has undergone. We took our dog to the new dog park, and loved it. It's small, but plenty big for our large dog. The other dogs and owners were friendly, and the atmosphere was more fun than a lot of the other local dog parks. Nice splash pad and some great events, like blink. Fun area but I still feel a little unsafe there if it's not mid day when it's crowded.

The city has done such a wonderful job with this park. It is perfect in the summertime for things like letting kids run through the water fountains or watching one of the free summer movies in the park. It is also very safe as the Police have stepped up enforcement in the area. The dog area is also a great way to exercise your best friend as well. I believe that the concessions stand does NOT sell food, but only beverages (even adult ones). read more

If you like people watching, this is the mecca. My personal favorite spot is the dog park. People are so serious with their dogs, it's funny watching human/dog interactions. Also, next to the gazebo there was a guy doing incline push-ups on the bench. I mean, who does that? I don't know, but I sure like watching it. The kickball games are always entertaining. You would think these guys are professional. Very serious business there. Outdoor movies, how great. Bring your folding chair, a blanket and drinks. I don't think you're supposed to drink there, but I don't care. It's my pre-game before going out. I stay away from the playground though. My idea of a good time doesn't include screaming, crying kids. Also, for all you cheap guys, this is a perfect date spot. Meet at the gazebo, walk around and act super sophisticated, talking about the history of OTR and Music Hall. Great place, I can't wait until it stays warm for more than one day so I can go visit again. read more

As far as parks go, Cincinnati has some greats. Washington Park has everything you could need for it's location-it is both the backyard of OTR residents and a destination for OTR visitors. It's great as a destination or a stop while your checking OTR. Some of the park's highlights: sizable playground, spraygrounds, dog park, beer deck, respectable bathrooms, underground (reasonably priced) parking, and if I'm not mistaken, wifi. You may also encounter: Bluegrass (Thursdays), Yoga, Bootcamp, Movie Nights, City Flea, Food Trucks, Kid's Crafts, Beer Festivals. Check the website and schedule and stop on down. It's also great, because of the design of the park, that if you want to come down for a picnic or to just chill, even if there is an event going on, you'll still find some space to yourself. read more

The dog park is clean, well-kept, and pretty cool. I love the water feature in the middle of it! My only complaint is that it is a little small for my dog (which is understandable given the location), and the concrete tends to tear up my dog's paws when she runs too much. Depending on the time of day, you may be the only person in the park, so make sure you go during a busier hour. read more

It's hard to overstate how awesome Washington Park is, and how incredible the transformation of the entire park and surrounding area has been. We were walking through the other night surrounded by families, people walking their dogs, couples walking hand in hand and others just out for a jog or stroll. The group that runs the park has done a great job of making sure there are events happening year-round in the park as well, from yoga to city flea, to taste of OTR, to live jazz at the gazebo. There's a patio for nice days to order a drink and people watch or meet a group of friends and hang out. The dog park is small, but nicely done. The playground looks like a blast for the little ones, and it's always packed. In warm weather, there are fountains and a splashpad area. There's also a big lawn for lounging. Set among the stunning backdrop of Music Hall and the panorama of OTR, Washington Park is a gem. read more

Love this outdoor space. Perfectly partitioned with a performance space, dog park, kid area, vending area. Everything is clean and well kept. Great program of events over the summer (http://washingtonpark.org/). The interactive fountain is perfect for kids of all ages - they seem to never get tired of running through it. Movie nights, concerts, or just sit outside and read a book. Hope this spurs more development in the surrounding area. Tip: Get some food and or popsickle at StreetPops before coming here. As others have noted, Washington Park made a huge turn around and it is depressing how long it has taken me to write a review of this amazing park. Washington Park is absolutely beautiful now. It's safe and something for everyone - a dog park, playground, lots of grassy space and lots to do during the summer. Yoga, dancing, movies - the list goes on. I'm so thankful for the revitalization of the area and tell everyone how great it is now but few believe me so, you MUST come here to see what I mean! Not to mention, it's surrounded by beautiful architecture and is only a couple blocks away from all of the amazing restaurants and shops on Vine. I love taking my niece and nephew to Washington Park. Last weekend, we stopped by Holtman's Donuts on Sunday and then headed over to the park. We were early enough that we were able to get street parking. The kids loved the playground, which has some standards - slides and baby swings, but some fun different entertainment as well. I remember when this park was *not* safe at all, and I am so glad it has been revitalized. More so, I am glad to see people of all different stripes using the park. read more

Easy & reasonably priced parking, lots of shade, beautiful open greenspace, cool gazebo, interactive fountains to splash in & take pics of at night, too many events to keep up with, accessible 'real' restrooms (not the yucky seatless-type toilets like at Sawyer Point), very walkable, fenced-off dog park, sprawling kids playground, gorgeous Music Hall backdrop, plenty of benches, enjoyable for people of all ages.
