I came in here to try and treat brain injury/fatigue/brain fog from some chemical exposure I'd received. I'd read a few medical reviews and anecdotal reports on the internet that hyperbaric therapy could be an effective treatment. After reading reviews for various places around Seattle, WHTC seemed the most promising. Since hyperbaric therapy isn't covered by insurance 90% of the time, unless you're a diver who has decompression sickness or what-not, I had to pay out of pocket. The Doctor I spoke with recommended I do 20 sessions, but the sticker shock at the price for that was real - so I opted to do 10 and to see how it went. They have you sign a contract and bill you for the 10 sessions up front. They also warn you that they won't give you a refund if you choose not to continue at any point/don't do your full 10 sessions. Here's where there is a VERY important point to consider about this treatment: **If you are claustrophobic AT ALL, you -really- need to think about whether or not you can do this** I am claustrophobic, but with the help of Xanax and an edible, I made it through all 10 sessions. I would take my meds maybe 10-15 min before the session, and then just get in there and take a nap, pretty much. There were a couple sessions where I forgot to bring my Xanax and only had an edible though - and I'm pretty sure my soul temporarily left my body, but I made it through. X P Why is it such an ordeal for claustrophobic folks? The chamber itself isn't *that* bad. Nowhere near as a bad as an MRI, for example. You can sit up, and you could stretch out, twist around, etc. BUT, you'll be wearing a plastic hood over your head the whole time. So that combo definitely turned this into a Fear Factor-esqe situation for me. There are other hyperbaric places that only make you wear an oxygen mouth mask (think Dentist's office Nitrous mask), which is definitely less trying for claustrophobic peeps. The good news? The 10 sessions worked like a charm - my brain felt great, and my energy level was back to 100%. Everyone who works here is friendly and professional, and they're flexible with scheduling your sessions and such. I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. My only real complaint is that I wish they'd give you an option to use a mouth mask instead of the hood, since some other hyperbaric places use that. I probably will be going back for "maintenance" treatment at some point in the near future, and that would be the only factor that would make me pick a different place. read more

This place is a disaster. They are just after your money. They provide a "Doctor" who has the word doctor hand written on his white coat. The staff fits you with a space helmet and then forces it on you after you are in the chamber. The guy putting the helmet on you gets way to close and he is creepy. They pump real oxygen into the chamber so they use it sparingly, making it hard to breath during the session. Avoid this place its a rip off. read more

Oxygen! Without it, we die! Hence I decided to head over to WHT. These chambers are supposed to help increase healing and wellness. The staff is highly attentive. While they definitely can be busy. They are on top of their game and try to suggest the best treatment for you. I did find the 175 dollar oxygen hood at an unexpected cost, but it is yours to keep. Overall the staff kept checking on me constantly, making sure I was safe and doing well. They give you access to the wifi so you can stay occupied in the chamber (currently typing this up in the chamber as we speak.). read more

Great staff, very personable. They have guided me through the process to meet my needs and goals in health. I initially went her to help recover following my cancer treatment. It helped neuropathies in my hands and feet, as well as, vascular issues in my legs. I have now returned 3 years later in better shape trying to use it in a more maintenance approach. So far I have experienced improvement in my memory, mental clarity and oxygenation of my muscles.. allowing me to push myself farther in fitness and yoga. I just completed 30 treatments at Washington Hyperbaric, and wanted to share about what a lovely experience I had during all my visits. Genardey, Elena, and the rest of the team were so conscientious, kind, and very competent. If you're locked in a hyperbaric chamber, THESE are exactly the type of people you'd want to have taking care of you. They are vigilant, pay close attention to details, and clearly love their jobs. I know they both have worked there for many years. The appointments were always on-time. I often could even show up early and they were ready for me. I had originally been concerned about having to drive to Redmond since I live in Seattle, but the treatment center is very accessible to 520 and they have lots of parking available. There aren't many hyperbaric oxygen facilities that have the "hard chamber", which is necessary for many hyperbaric protocols. All the ones I found only had the soft chamber, so that's why I decided to go with Washington Hyperbaric, because they had the hard chamber. They also had a good pricing promo going on, which made the cost a little more affordable. Undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy is life changing. If your doctor recommends it, go for it. I have done multiple sessions in the hard chamber, and have greatly benefited. The staff is excellent. I have no idea why Yelp has chosen to filter out the other 5 excellent reviews, and chose to only display the one negative review. I suspect it is because this business has chosen not to pay Yelp for advertising and has been penalized as a result. Because I am giving this business a 5 star rating, I'll bet you Yelp will filter this out as well. By the way, to counter what Lin R. (the negative reviewer) stated: I don't have medical insurance and checked around to see what the cash pay price would be for hyperbaric oxygen. Washington Hyperbaric Therapy Center charges $160/session (but this goes down after the 10th treatment). When I inquired at Virginia Mason, it took them weeks to get back to me; they charge $2500/session. I have no affiliation with Washington Hyperbaric other than being a satisfied patient. read more

Washington Hyperbaric Therapy Center is among the best businesses that I have ever patronized: staff is superb; care is excellent, and every one who works there caring and empathetic. I am a nurse and therefore very, very discerning about health care providers. They are, simply, the best. My son had a severe sports concussion/brain injury years ago when he was in grade school: he had severe vision and cognitive deficits, significant mobility problems, and uncontrolled headache pain. He was unable to attend school. We went to 5 area neurologists, none of whom had anything to offer for his healing. After a full course of 20 hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions at 1.5 ATA followed by a month off, followed by another 20 sessions (which is the Dr. Paul Harch from New Orleans protocol), my son fully recovered. His vision went from functionally blind to perfect; his mobility problems were gone--instead of using a mobility device, he was able to run cross country in high school. Headaches were eradicated and his cognition so fully improved he attended high school with no accommodation, receiving excellent grades. (Functional Neurology was also a great help to his recovery--Dr. Glen Zielinski in Portland, Oregon.) My son is now on a hyperbaric oxygen maintenance dose of twice monthly. He remains fully recovered and is now in college studying to be an engineer. I am uncertain as to the knowledge base or research or medical background of the last reviewer: when I was researching how to help my son recover from his brain injury, I read over 500 medical journal articles on brain injury treatment, including every animal or human study from every country on hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Washington Hyperbaric's staff, facilities and hard chambers meet every single recommended parameter. 2.5 ATA may be acceptable for some diabetic skin ulcers, but is not the dose for brain recovery or for many other medical problems hyperbaric can help. Great place, great treatment, great staff members! My family members and I have had multiple treatments at this center, I am more than happy with it, and I have been recommending it to everybody. The Hyperbaric oxygen treatment has treated many of my health problems or significantly improved symptoms (inflammation, joint/back pain, pinched nerves, post surgery recovery, respiratory problems - you name it).  One of the most valuable assets of this center is their staff (their names are Gennady and Elena). They are very knowledgeable about how hyperbaric oxygen treatment works and how it can help with your particular situation, (it is a big bonus in addition the official Doctor consultation prior the treatment). They make you feel welcomed and safe and it is very important for those with claustrophobia/anxiety about enclosed spaces (a hyperbaric chamber) or for those with special needs. Gennady and Elena are very good with little kids who need to undergo a hyperbaric oxygen treatment and your kids will be looking forward to their visits. The staff members are ethical, professional and you will never get a feeling that this is just a business to make money out of people's medical needs (this type of treatment is typically not covered by insurance in USA so you will have to pay out of pocket). I can't say enough about the professionalism, clinical excellence, and personal kindness of the employees of Washington Hyperbaric Therapy Center. As an RN and a mom, it's been extraordinarily difficult to navigate the difficulties surrounding getting my son the treatment he's needed to recover from his concussion/brain injury. After years of going to innumerable neurologists and other health care providers, all of whom offered pharmaceuticals or other treatment options which really weren't beneficial to his return to health, it was a vast relief to discover Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and to discover how it helps oxygenate injured areas of the brain, assists in DNA repair, and rebuilds micro-circulation. The folks at Washington Hyperbaric and the HBOT they provide have helped my son improve so much that he's back in school full time, with a huge reduction in the chronic headaches, vision problems, hearing sensitivity, balance problems and cognitive difficulties which plagued him for so long. I've met children with autism and mitochondrial disorder and adults with brain injuries, carbon monoxide poisoning, or strokes, all of whom have improved with hyperbaric treatments. The atmosphere at Washington Hyperbaric is as friendly as one could hope for, and the compassion and concern evidenced for patients and families goes far above and beyond the norm in health care.
