Waiting periods at St Michael Wound Care have gradually increased over the past few months to…read morewaiting 1 hr to 1.5 hrs to beyond appointment times. There is a sign at check-in regarding "short staffing", which is chronic throughout St Michael medical facilities. My understanding from discussion with Wound Care staff is chronic understaffing of nurses is the problem. In my view, St Michael should assign temporary floater nurses from the main campus or hire travel nurses to augment Wound Care staff. However, I have been told that St. Michael executive management will not support either approach because Wound Care is an outpatient facility and not a priority. At present there are four vacant RN positions at Wound Care. Until sufficient staffing is addressed, lengthy delays in patient care will be a continuing problem. Lastly, the current RN staff at Wound Care are excellent and try hard to accomplish their work under adverse staffing conditions.

Their wanting me to be home at the time of the delivery so I can sign an invoice which means I can't go to the grocery store for food, the pharmacy for medications or go for badly needed walks until Pacific Pulmonary arrives? It seems to me Pacific Pulmonary Services has got things backwards; they're not the customer I am. If a customer is upset don't tell the customer to "calm down", work diplomatically to defuse the situation.

It had a comfortable bed and clean restroom. And the thermostat was controllable (I usually like my room very cold at around 62 degrees or so). The nurses were extremely helpful and I have to give each of them a shout out! Noelle, Derek, and Jessica. I was not planning to be a difficult patient but I felt like I kind of came one unfortunately. I was in extreme pain from time to time and I couldnt always stay chill and cool. The nurses were quick to understand my needs without me having to speak too much or too loudly (I had a bit of trouble with after the surgery). They really went out of their way to help with my specific needs. The food wasn't bad but it just felt like food that used to be served on airplane back in the day. Compared to hospitals like Overlake, VM could really step up in this department! Also the administrative staff seemed a bit confused and disorganized. However, there is one main person (Kristina) that coordinated and resolved all the loose ends for me and she was extremely helpful. Overall, I felt well taken of care of at Virginia Mason and the surgery went well. Huge thanks to Dr. Sternbach and his surgical team. Check out the view from my room!

Even multiple current doctors have confirmed this. Example: My wife and I have been patients at Virginia Mason for 37 years. Just recently my wife's primary care provider pulled back from full-time work. Because she wasn't completely off the payroll, according to the MBAs and accountants, she was not offered an MD, PA, or ARNP as a replacement...only the choice of 1 of 4 residents. We will, with sadness, both be leaving. VIRGINIA MASON IS BROKEN. STAY AWAY!
