Focused on ensuring their machines are clean and always in great operational mode. Clean! Clean! Oh, did I say it's clean! We come here aa few times a year for our bigger laundry needs such as the outdoor couch cushions. I won't go anywhere else when I need to do a big load of large items.

A couple of months back, I also had a small load of dark clothes to wash, so I used a smaller machine for them. I selected the 'Cold' cycle as I always do, yet the wash and rinse cycle were both 'Hot', not even warm. Needless to say, my T-shirts shrunk...I now was a 75 year old man on a budget, walking around wearing short halter tops! A couple of weeks after that, their 60# machines were out of order, so I had to use several smaller ones. I again selected the 'Cold' cycle yet those wash and rinse cycles were also hot. Two weeks ago I used the 60# again and when adding the bleach, I noticed hot air coming from the opening. As mentioned earlier, I love this place because its ALWAYS 'squeaky clean', but because the machines offer the choice of which water temperature one requires, but the owners don't, so factoring in the price of gas and replacing some clothes, I'm sorry to say I now have to go elsewhere, I only gave it a 2* rating for the machine issues only, for everything else, I definitely give it a 5* rating.

Okay, first of all, whoever called this place "modern" has clearly never done laundry in downtown Sacramento. Because, no. I couldn't find any electric outlets anywhere, and I searched really, really hard for one. They seemed to be intentionally hidden and obscured so as to prevent customers from using them. The washers and dryers were clean enough, but the soap compartments on the washers were nasty. For people with allergies and skin sensitivity issues, this can be a really big deal. You'd either have to come prepared to clean the machine yourself, or end up with all kinds of random soaps and detergents on your things. The price was a little bit higher than I'm used to paying at $6.50 total to wash and dry the equivalent of 3 small loads. The parking lot seemed to be very popular with people who came to loiter and blast music. I saw at least one guy come through looking like he was looking for idle clothes to steal, but he didn't find any. My clothes did get clean and the time the machines needed was reasonable, even though the machines looked ancient and you could literally hear air leaking from the dryer.

I've been fortunate and have received excellent service from them over the last several years. Most recently, I had several new residents moving in and the leasing office was a little discombobulated due to the fact the regular property manager had to have emergency hospitalization and had run out of the reloadable cards. I called the Coin Meter office and asked their excellent customer service representative if they could send out one of their techs to drop off several of the cards and instructional brochures. The next morning they dropped off the cards and brochures just before the move-in festival began. Talk about relief and being able to remain a competent manager. Coin Meter supplies washing machines and dryers under contract to apartment properties. The properties under contract to Coin Meter through the property management company I work for probably waver right around 75%. I see all the of the options at the different properties: strictly quarters, reloadable cards, and the best of all are the ones that use one's own debit card or credit card. If there is a problem with one of the machines, we can just call Coin Meter and give them the machine's info (prominently displayed on the ID tags on each machine) so they can make whatever repairs are needed. Both management and residents are welcome to call to ask for service, and that's excellent because on a crazy-busy day even a moment's worth of help, such as a resident making the service call, can bring down a management staff member's blood pressure. There are procedures in place to help get money refunded if there's a glitch in the process. As I mentioned above, their customer service staff is stellar, and their repair techs I have found to be equally friendly and professional. Since so many of us live in apartments now and also are into clean clothes, I do recommend Coin Meter. They've been great to work with so far, and unless something drastic happens, I can't see that changing any time soon.

And for the most part it's those bad residents that are the biggest issues. Keeping their clothes in washer or dryer over night or leaving tons of dog hair or pieces of paper in them. But here's my complaint about Coin Meter and why I am leaving this now. Last week, Coin meter raised their price. Yes, a measly .25 cents you say. Not the bigger issue. They changed the payment app. Took forever to get things reset up. They left a note on the laundry room wall which I'll leave here. Basically it said, "we changed the payment method. if you want your balance transferred from the other app, fill this for out or too bad. Ten they changed the wash time on washer down to 25min!! Really??!! From I 33min if not mistaken. And the topic on the cake was that they throttled the water output. Which literally means that your clothes wash time is about 15min. So, yes I complained. Will they care? Probably not. Will they transfer my money balance from my old app to new payment system? Hmm.. Let's see. I may have to do a BBB.
