I stopped by to grab a copy of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks for my book club meeting, and they had two copies available. Also, I had no idea that if you have a library card for American Fork, Pleasant Grove, or Highland, you can use it at any of the three libraries. So that was great to know! I tried using self check out, but since it's been a couple of years since I've used my card physically at the library, it was blocked. I had to head to the counter, and they just needed to confirm my info was still correct. Super simple fix. The employee who helped me was so friendly exactly the kind of person you hope to interact with at a library.

There's a quiet reverence in this place that makes it perfect for just sitting and reading--or even pretending to read while you enjoy the stillness. They've also got a little used book section where you can buy books for super cheap, which I appreciate since I can't exactly get a library card here. And their digital collection through Libby is part of the Beehive Consortium, which seems to have way more audiobook and eBook options than my own Sacramento County Library back home. Major bonus.

The selection of books here is wonderful! They have a lot to offer and are always updating the collection. Not only do they offer books of all kinds but the Orem library also has lots of extra collections including board games (free to borrow!), video games, movies, and an impressive "makers space" in the basement. We love the community events and children's activities that they offer. This will always be a favorite place of mine!

They have a pretty good collection of new movies and If you sign up for emails, they will email you when they have new movies to rent. Every time we come into this little gem, the staff is always so friendly and helpful. They are operating limited hours right now due to COVID19, but they make sure their limited hours are posted on their website's front page. When you do return movies and books, the only way their taking it back is the drop box behind the library. They are not taking any returns inside. In addition, they are not taking any cash for payment for any late fees at this time due to the pandemic. What I also love about this library is sometimes they have donated bread at the entrance, free to anyone who might need it. At this time I don't think anyone is allowed to sit and stay (and play) inside, so they labeled their hours as "Grab & Go" while they are open. I have looked into their digital selection, and it would be nice if they can expand it. I've put in a few requests for movies that they do not have, but have not received any response as to them making any effort of carrying it. Room for growth!

This is a great library. My kids love going to the library. There are a lot of great books, fun…read moreactivities planned for different age groups throughout the week, kind and knowledgeable staff, and plenty of computers available for use. It isn't very large, so if you are hoping to sneak away into a private corner to do work, then you will find there aren't a lot of hiding places. The younger children's book area is separate, which helps contain much of the noisier patrons in one place, since littles aren't very good at whispering. If you really need more quiet, you can either reserve the private room available, or just wear noise-canceling headphones. If I am studying, I will often pull up some classical music to study by on YouTube and listen with my headphones while doing my studying. This way I am not distracted by anyone else who may be near by. As with all libraries, it maintains a level of quiet, but it won't be dead quiet like in a university library. After all, this is a community library that caters to families...which includes children. I love seeing kids at the library! It's a good place for our next generation of leaders to hang out.

Library leadership is self-absorbed, complacent and only concerned about their own well-being. They…read moreare not interested in advancing the people they are responsible for leading. They are unaware of employee strengths and prefer staff "remain in their lane". They make little to no investment in getting to know employees. Leadership claims to have an open-door policy (come and talk) but what ensues is an excuse or dismissiveness with those who ask or bring forward potential problems. They provide little to no feedback and disregard problems, while micromanaging staff without understanding their needs for the job.

Productivity and joy can definitely be felt here but I can't give it 5 stars because no men have come up to and me asked me on a date while I've been in the building. That just doesn't sit well with me...what also doesn't sit well with me is 2 oatmeal creme cookies from the vending machine in a row. My own fault but also...they enabled me. Don't study on the 2nd floor unless you want everyone to stare when you walk by with your rolly backpack. I recommend the 3rd floor if you want to study but not feel self conscious about any and every noise you make. I've made so many fun memories here... more than I probably should have
