I made a cold call to Wake Orthodontics over three years ago and booked an appointment with Dr…read more Collie. He was my third appointment with an orthodontist. I chose Wake Orthodontics and could not be happier. As a geriatric patient with a mouth full of problems, I was not expecting much. I told Dr. Collie I just wanted a pretty smile. Wake Orthodontics with Dr. Collie have far exceeded all expectations. I arrive about five minutes before my appointment and am seen almost immediately. There is an office in Smithfield which is extremely convenient. HIs staff are knowledgeable, friendly, encourage questions and get answers. The time, effort and work done on my teeth are amazing. As I have watched my mouth turn from a mess into one that creates a pretty smile, I feel so very grateful to Dr. Collie and his staff. For youths, I have talked with dozens of his youth patients and their parents. I have not heard a single complaint or concern. Their entire focus seems to be to work with you and to satisfy you while maintaining a high level or pride in the end result.

My experience is with Wake Orthodontics. Dr. Collie was recommended by our pediatric dentist and…read morehe and his staff have given us great service for fourteen years for both of my two daughters. My oldest daughter was showing issues with alignment at four years old. They charged ONE price, and worked with her for eleven years, to help her adult teeth come in straighter, using little bars and other tricks, so that her time with braces, and the trauma to her mouth and teeth was minimized. Having my younger daughter finish with orthodontic care was bitter-sweet, because this office and especially Dr. Collie are like part of the extended family.

I've been coming here since I first got teeth and the whole time they've been awesome. Parents…read morearen't allowed to go back with kids but to me it was okay and a good separation it gives kids a chance to learn their own history and explain how they're teeth are feeling to them. The doctors are awesome and aren't super condescending about how often you brush your teeth. They give you tips and tell you if you're only gonna brush once a day then try and do it at night so the acids don't break your teeth down. They really try their best to make kids comfortable and as a child I was super scared of the X-ray machine and they took pictures of my teeth instead. They ask you all the necessary questions and about all health conditions prior to doing your teeth and review them at each appointment to make sure they're updated. They send the kids home with a new toothbrush, dental floss, and toothpaste. Younger kids also get to pick a prize and a sticker for getting their teeth done. They of course run through everything with parents and keep them informed on what's going on and also don't allow parents to leave the premises while their kids are in the back. Pre-COVID they had a console system with two controllers and a lot of floor games to keep kids occupied during the wait. There were plenty of chairs but it wasn't super crowded either. Now you have to wait in your car but I'm sure once COVIDs over they'll bring it all back. A really great dental place overall and the receptionist are also super nice I've personally never had a negative experience with them that they were at fault for and even had my, as well as my brothers, wisdom teeth removed here. They were super great and checked up on us both after surgery I personally woke up during surgery but they felt super bad and it was definitely an odd one out experience likely due to the fact I have a super high anesthesia tolerance and have several health issues. I'm always super hard to put to sleep and I've had issues in hospital settings as well but didn't think it'd be a problem. That was definitely a personal fault and not theirs I 100% am certain that they'll always take care of your kids because I am one of the kids that grew up going here. It was always great and killed my fear of the dentist and made me wanna take better care of my teeth. I look forward to my appointments and am always satisfied with the results definitely a great place for kids to start and grow at.

They told my daughter she didn't need braces and 2 months later she needed them and got yelled at…read moreby a staff member

I got tricked into taking my son here when I called a different dentist as an emergency. I never…read morewould have taken him here otherwise because I have a coworker that used to take her kids here and had a lot of problems. The dentist office I did call after-hours for booked us and gave me the address for this place but we just rolled with it. They saw my son and helped him with his tooth pain under the understanding that he was not allowed back for anything else unrelated to this visit because he might be some sort of risk to pregnant mothers due to his incomplete vaccination status... they never asked me about mine when I'd be the one waiting on him. They saw us on a one time emergency basis, but they also went ahead and did his x-rays and cleaning and applied SDF, fluoride and two crowns... it's like they wanted to get everything out of insurance that they could fit in our one and only visit but at the time, I took it as them caring about his health. They tried to tell me that because of prior trauma he would have to have his front two teeth removed due to root resorption, but our new dentist (Smiling Turtle) never mentioned those teeth! Anyway he came out covered in sweat after being held down for the work because unfortunately he is very high stress and squirmy, and this really had to be done so I thank them for doing it quickly and still doing it well. They also were very kind and really set my mind at ease because I was very upset that he had so many cavities. They were just too aggressive with their recommended treatment plan, and his new dentist is far more conservative saying he only needs one or two more crowns (CPD said he would need 6 more!) I would give it 5 stars for seeing us quickly, doing the work well and being supportive of a worried mom, but I dock one for overly aggressive treatment planning, and another for the vaccine issue. We have good reasons. Found a better dentist who respects our mindful choices.

Over and over they would make "mistakes" in their billing department. The agreed upon price would…read moresuddenly go up on the day of treatment. They would claim it was insurance rates going up, or that it was a clerical error. Either way it was a bait and switch. Today my son's total changed from 375 to over 700 dollars. They over diagnose and pad the treatment plan with items not discussed. Nitrous oxide, type of crown material, sealants, etc. Stay away.
