Also, he is very, very passionate about photography in general and passing on his immense wealth of knowledge and wisdom to other photographers. The Santa Fe Photographic Workshops is an outstanding program. It is run about as smoothly and professionally as I have experienced for this type of program or size of an operation. The staff is uniformly friendly, supportive, and professional. The campus is beautiful, and the facility and equipment on hand are all of high quality. And of course Santa Fe is a photographer's playground. There is soooo much to shoot in and around town. And the Workshops has an extremely diverse, attractive, and interesting stable of models that they work with. I can't wait to get back and take another workshop there!

NMSA earned an "A" last school year from the New Mexico Public Education Department. Not only does…read morethis say a lot about this charter school, but also the students achieved a 96% graduation rate [ http://www.nmschoolforthearts.org/2013/05/may-31-2013-nmsa-seniors-achieve-96-percent-graduation-rate/ ] in 2013. If both of these things do not really impress you, then I can personally say that I am fully inspired by this school from the current 2014-15 school year students because not only were they happy to see their friends again, but they were excited, truly elated, to be back in school. Wow! Authentic leaners are what more schools need. My daughter fits right into the NMSA pupil population because she herself is a natural student, and I anticipate her flourishing here for many reasons. Some of those reasons include the learning environment, teachers, scholars, and overall educational embrace. The admissions department selected the perfectly motivated children, and I am amazed with their selection. I fully support the New Mexico School for the Arts. I want to volunteer here as much as time allows. I cannot wait to help. Congratulations NMSA! Well done.

I was driving down Paseo de Peralta and saw a bright yellow "Yarn Etc." sign poking out of a yard -…read moreso I drove around trying to figure out where to park and didn't find anything obvious, so I went about my day. Later while looking up yarn stores on Yelp I found the listing for Miriam's Well and saw the location was right where that sign was, so I called to ask about parking. Miriam answered and told me where to park (the first driveway past the sign while going clockwise on PdP, you have to go down the alley to the end then turn right and then you'll find her shop and a couple places to park in front of it. She has a great little yarn shop with supplies for weavers as well as knitters and crocheters. Miriam is a very nice lady with a great selection of yarns - standards like Berroco, Cascade, Plymouth, Noro as well as a lot of more hard-to-find and more local options as well. Some really gorgeous stuff! She has many sample garments prepared, I'm not sure if they were for sale but there were so many I suspect that some of them are. I myself came out of there with a skein of Great Adirondack sock yarn and a skein of Plymouth Yarns "Happy Feet". Prices were pretty standard compared to other similar shops, she did have a couple specials as well. I will be sure to visit every year when I'm in town!

As of January 2007, the beginning of School of American Research's 101st year, the name of this…read moreeducational non-profit organization was officially changed to the "SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH ON THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE." I only knew this research facility when I lived in Santa Fe as SAR. I did contract archeological cartography for them for a couple of years. The cartography wasn't difficult, but getting each drawing and map approved was. They had a reputation for never approving the first work submitted. Always wanting everything perfect. Deadlines weren't the primary motivation, perfection was. There were always changes. But producing maps and drawings for some of the Grand Canyon Series of publications made me feel a real part of this prestigious institution and worth the trouble of working for perfectionists. This 100 year-old institution was initially established to study and research the archaeology and ethnology of the American Southwest. In the late 1960s the focus became more of a global one. The programs and activities of SAR today include research and study to advance archeology, anthropology and similar related disciplines. The School's many programs include a scholars-in-residence program, seminars and public lectures, and extensive Native American Indian Arts research programs. SAR has an annual Lecture Series and also provides field trips to noted archeological sites to its members. Membership is inexpensive and the benefits are enormous. 100 years of research is at your fingertips through their extensive library collections (the librarian was the librarian in the Laboratory of Anthropology for many years) and many research programs and publications. (Plus they always welcome volunteers.) The glass-blowing experience was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. They guided us through the process, making it both fun and educational. The facility itself is inspiring, filled with beautiful pieces of art created by talented artisans. I was amazed by the variety of colors and techniques used in the glass-blowing process. The hands-on experience allowed us to create our own unique pieces, which was a thrill! Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, the instructors were patient and supportive, ensuring everyone felt comfortable. It's a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit! If you're in Santa Fe, make sure to stop by Prairie Dog Glass for an unforgettable experience!

Loved these guys! We had a sort of 'family reunion road trip' from Carlsbad Caverns to Utah. Two of…read moremy sisters, their kids, me and my kids and my parents. We spent 2 hours in the morning at Prairie Dog Glass and it was everyone's favorite part of Santa Fe, even over Meowolf. Just so fun to be hands on and the people are super cool. The glass pieces came out beautifully and are a super fun reminder now of our time together. I know a big group like ours is probably hard but the PDG folks made it work and were really cool. I even misunderstood the time and showed up 45 minutes late (!) and they still worked with us and moved things around so we could have the full 2 hours which was the perfect amount!
