Charlotte our server couldn't have been more knowledgeable about the menu, the establishment and the area. I ordered pork chops, eggs, toast, & grits. Husband had the Blue plate special , and chose the catfish, collard greens & coleslaw to go with the hush puppies & cornbread. They had a full bar & a tempting specialty cocktail menu as well as happy hour specials but we decided to stick with water as we were on a road trip. Again, this was a completely unexpected experience. Everything was cooked to perfection & tasted incredible. Charlotte explained that this is the closest to New Orleans style food that you will find around. She then told us the chef offers "a taste" of 2 deserts (changes daily if offered). A white chocolate Brad pudding and a chocolate cake with sauce. Oh wow!! Much more than a taste but full dessert portion. Both were so good and genuinely appreciated. Such a good meal, with incredible service and beautiful atmosphere. We will be back. Thank you!

On the bartender's recommendation, I ordered the Catfish Plaquemine, and it was phenomenal. Perfectly prepared catfish with a sauce that really brought the dish together. This place has the feel of a classic New Orleans-style restaurant with consistently strong seafood. Definitely worth a visit and I'll be back.

The staff is attentive without hovering, professional without feeling scripted, and they genuinely make you feel welcome. The ambience hits that sweet spot -- energetic but still comfortable, making it an easy place to settle in and enjoy your meal. Now let's talk about the real headline act: the cheese grits. Absolutely out of this world. Creamy, rich, perfectly seasoned and the pepper Jack cheese added a wonderful touch-- they weren't a side dish, they were the star of the show. If they sold those by the gallon, I'd consider questionable life decisions. I ordered the shrimp po'boy. The shrimp themselves? Fantastic. Fresh, fried just right, and piled generously. The toppings and that homemade remoulade (or whatever magic sauce they're whipping up back there) were bright and flavorful. The only hiccup: the bread. The ends were toasted with the intensity of a NASA heat shield. I needed jaw strength training to get through the first few bites. Once you navigated past that crunchy barricade though, it was smooth sailing. I finished with the deep dish apple pie à la mode. I'm not sure if it was made in-house, outsourced, or assembled by a dessert engineer in a lab somewhere -- but I don't really care. It worked. Warm apples, flaky crust, walnuts, brown sugar, and cold ice cream melting into the whole situation... excellent flavor combo. Bonus points for a strong bourbon selection at prices that don't require a small loan application. That alone will get me back in the door. Four stars because of the bread battle, but I'd absolutely come back -- especially for those grits and a good pour of bourbon.

Since my previous review a LOT has changed at Chesterfield's! This was my second visit to their new…read morelocation so it had been decades since my last visit and this second visit was many years after I last ate here in 2019. I have to say I still prefer their old location better which is largely more for nostalgia's sake. The service was less than I had come to expect from the old location so that could certainly use some improvement and it seemed to have gotten even worse for my second visit to the new spot. The food has declined from my past first visit to this new location sadly. The open faced prime rib sandwich served with a side of au jus was my go to staple here for many years but they no longer have that on the menu sadly. The only other entrée I ever ordered here was one of the Gulf fish specials which they still had some of those at least but not as good a choice as they used to have. For my second visit the menu was so uninspiring to me I just got a cheeseburger and it was fortunately a decently good cheeseburger. For Hattiesburg this is probably still one of the better places to eat. They have continued doing a nice tray of their dessert selections setting out on display to really try and tempt your soul with lust for their sweet treats. I really think they need to up their game again and go back to what they used to be! Overall if you're in the area this is probably a good choice for the food or their bar which will be better than any of the many nearby chains like Applebee's but not quite as good as Crescent City Grill.

We pulled up and noticed that the GOS location was pointing to a hotel building. There was no signage from the road or exterior of the hotel, but we went inside and found this restaurant is more of a lounge restaurant within the hotel The menu offers a variety of "tapas," and the portions are large enough that everyone in a small party should be able to try the dish. The cocktails were well made, and they came out in a timely manner Our server was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Overall, the service was good. We did try to slightly modify a couple of the dishes, and one couldn't be modified, and another was just disregarded, but everything tasted good This isn't the most inexpensive spot for happy hour, but it is a nice atmosphere Some tips: Definitely go the tapas route so you can try a variety of dishes. The firecracker shrimp was one of my favorites Cheers!
