Extremely Disappointing Experience - Unprofessional and Unauthorized Work Avoid This Shop!
My daughter-in-law and I had an incredibly frustrating experience at Wards Auto Repair. It was our first time using this shop, and it will certainly be our last. Upon entering, we were immediately ignored by the woman sitting at the desk, which was not a great first impression.
After the car was taken in, we were given a quote of $740.00 for the repair with vehicle to ready the next day. However, when we returned to pick the vehicle up, things only got worse. There was no one in the front office area to greet us. I had to repeatedly shout "hello" just to try to get someone's attention. After a few minutes of no response, I called the shop's number while standing inside the building, which finally got the owner's attention.
The owner came up and told us that the final bill was $942, far exceeding the original quote of $700+. When I asked him to explain the additional charges, he mentioned that the car needed an oil change, a filter replacement, and a line needed replacing. The problem? NONE of these services were authorized or even requested by us nor did the shop call to ask if we wanted these services performed.
When we pointed out that the oil had just been changed two weeks ago, his response was dismissive, saying, "Oh, well, the oil was dirty." This type of unprofessional behavior, dishonesty and completion of unauthorized work is completely unacceptable. It's clear that they are more interested in overcharging customers than providing honest, transparent service.
This was one of the most frustrating experiences we've had with an auto repair shop. I will never return to Wards Auto Repair and would strongly advise others to be cautious before trusting them with their vehicles. There are plenty of other mechanics out there who will value your business and be upfront about the costs and services they provide. read more
