Believe everyone this place is terrible. My daughter had a starter problem. Had it towed there. Replaced the starter. Said I needed two new tires in the front. I bought them. Couple of weeks later the tire and rim fell off the car while my daughter was driving. They never tighten the lug nuts. Had to have it towed back to them. Had the audacity to say it was my daughter's fault because she drove 300 miles. Even worse when he finally put the tire on the rim and my daughter got the car back ready to come back to Rhode Island the other tire was doing the same thing, so I had to drive up to Massachusetts with my 2 ton jack, raise the car and tighten the lug nuts on the other tire otherwise it would've fell off on the highway. Let me start out by saying great gas prices but please explain to me why you allow landscapes to take up 2 pumps to fill gas containers on a busy day Thanksgiving eve one of the most busiest time of travel and when you pull up to use the pump the landscaper driving the truck go in like a baby to the manger because clearly he could back up your manager will come out and tell you to move instead of telling the landscape truck to back out and your gas station was completely full I really dont understand landscape truck not filling up the truck do not need to park there trucks in front of 2 pumps anyway that will be my last time at that gas station also your mander should not be allowed to then walk back I to the store and talk trash about what happened outside not know I am standing right there and explain what just happened and gave me the attitude sorry this issue happened at 65 main street waltham ma read more

I took my car here last year & should have learned from my last mistake but this place is very close to where I work and I was willing to give them another chance. The last time I dropped my car off there they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I'm assuming its becuase the mechanic there completly relies on the dignostic machine to tell him what the issue is. I took my car to Monroe the next day & right away they figured out I needed new shockes & struts. Today I take my car here with a receipt of what was just fixed a few days ago by another mechanic and the reading I got at the Autozone just last night with the possibilities of what could be wrong. I told the mechanic that because the thermostat was just replaced that can be ruled out and one of the possible things to be replaced is the coolant temp sensor. Of course he argued with me that the Autozone reading isn't a real reading and he insisted that I have a diagnostic done for $99. He didn't even want to consider what I had to say. According to the mechanic the diagnosis is that the (brand new) thermostat is the problem. This makes no sense at all because my heat is working fine & all signs point to the coolant temp sensor. I think I've finally learned my lesson and will not be taking my car back. This mechanic made an easy $99 off me. Taking my car somewhere else to have the coolant temp sensor replaced. read more

Reviews saying this guy is a thief is 100% true. I was told I needed lights replaced during my inspection, said I needed my front reverse light bulbs changed, only thing is those lights didn't exist on my car. Go elsewhere or get ripped off. read more

Horrible place!!!! took my car there to have a new clutch installed. when I picked up my car my speedometer didn't work. he tried to tell me it was broken when I drove in there. Wrong they broke it when he was installing my new clutch (wonder if it was even a new one.) I argued with him up and down and told him if he didn't repair my speedometer I'd report him to the better business bureau. have had times when I went for a simple oil change and got charged outrageous price for new windshield wiper blades. he does anything to make an extra buck off everyone who goes in there. and I agree with the others he is very rude unprofessional to boot. read more

Do not go to Waltham Shell. I went in for inspection. It took them three weeks to diagnose the car and when they were done I was rejected and they could not tell me what the problem was or how I could fix it. I don't know if they are liars or truly have no idea what they are doing but please stay away from this place. read more

i think the reviews here are a bit harsh. my experience was mostly positive. i stopped here to complete an inspection on a friday afternoon before a long road trip. they identified worn tie rods in the front end. whether or not the claim was valid, the work was done quickly, the price was fair (i've had the same work done on the other side of the car), and the car drove noticeably better as a result. they even gave me a loaner to get back to my office while they did the work. the loaner was a personal car that stunk like cigarettes but it was better than sitting there for 2.5 hrs. if you are in the area and need service work, i would recommend them. if you have a trusted mechanic already, i'd stick with what you got. they are not good enough to replace your trusted guy, but they are good enough to do the work if you happen to be close by. read more

I wish I had read the reviews on this service station for inspections before going there. DO NOT GO HERE! First, he tried to tell me that "he didn't like the sound of my wipers." I think he thinks I'm a moron because I'm a woman. He went to put the wipers on (without fluid on windshield) of course its going to make a noise, but he squirted himself in the face instead. Then he said, "Oh it was very loose and not clipped." When he put them on they were fine. We just had a storm and my wipers were absolutely fine then too. Secondly, he points out that one of my license plate lights was burnt out. He proceeded to say, "I can not pass your car if that light is out." I know that as long as there is a light on my plate and is visible from 50 feet away then I'm legal. However, I didn't want to argue about it... I just wanted my passing sticker. I said fine, and had him replace the light. HA!!!! He charged me $15.00 to replace a 50 cent light bulb. He, I'm guessing Tony, told me it cost him 50 cents and I said and you charge me $14.50 for labor? I watched the young man working with him change the bulb. He made sure he didn't hurry any and took his sweet time. It was a 5 min job. Totally ridiculous. When I confronted them about the charge his response was, "I can not work for free. I need to make a living." I'm not asking him to work for free by any means, however charging $15.00 for a simple light bulb that he made sound like I needed replaced for him to pass my car is ASININE!!!! This review is for the auto shop at the shell - these people are scam artists. Tony the manager wouldn't pass my car inspection because the third break light was out. He said it would be $75 to fix it since it was an LED strip and not a simple $10 bulb, so after I googled it to confirm he was right, I agreed and when I went to drop the car off the next day I confirmed it was $75 and he said no it's now $125. I said ok fine whatever. I asked him to lock my car once it was done if you're going to park it outside. I come back to pick it up, the car is unlocked with the key inside just sitting there all the way across the lot from the pumps unattended. Then I go in and now suddenly the price is $190! I got in verbal argument with him over it and he took $10 off - gee thanks. Note to the wise, do NOT go here - I would have taken my car to my usual mechanic who's the most honest guy around (Tony's Auto in Newton), but he said they don't do LEDs). The shop manager all of a sudden claims he was just talking about the price of the part when he quoted me (which was first 75$, and now it was $125 a day later?). If you are forced to go here get the estimate IN WRITING because these guys are pure scam artist. read more

Absolutely disgusted... Pulled up to the pump last night at 9:55, they're open until 10.. The second we pulled up and got out of the car, tapped the stop & shop card. Right as I was putting my debit card in the slot, they shut off the lights and pumps. I walked over and said, I said I'm trying to pay for the gas, you're really going to turn down more money? He goes, we're closed, we closed a few minutes ago. I informed him that they close at 10, he responded with, our clock says 10:01. It's company policy that we keep our clocks all the same, when my cell phone and car clock all said 9:57.. Shut the door in my face, so I walked away. As I was sitting at the red light on Weston St, in between Walgreens and Shell. My sister and I witnessed the two "boys" fighting, one of them whips open the door and flips us off.. After terrible service, and being flipped off, I'm never going back there again. I'm disgusted by the service. I'm calling the owner tomorrow, and corporate and putting in a formal complaint. This gas station was shut down for a while, except to do repairs, and now I'm surprised that they actually were able to open again. No wonder they never have any cars there... read more

Do not come here for inspection! I went here last year and had a good experience but now I don't know what happened anymore. I went in and the guy clearly got an attitude, he checked the car for 5 mins and asked me to come over and constantly "Hey I'm freaking talking to you, pay attention!". He was not able to explain the issues why I failed and insisted on looking further. When I told him I'd rather fix myself, he was clearly pissed and asked me to pay. He was rude, curt, constantly angry, unprofessional, mildy racist; so although I fixed the problem and can bring it back for a free re-test, I brought my car elsewhere and happily paid $35 for people who actually care about customers. So consider that $36 for inspection (oh they charge $1 for credit card - new rule!) the last $ myself and everyone around me will ever give to your business. IF I COULD GIVE A LOWER RATING I WOULD. I just went to this Shell station for a yearly inspection and it was a terrible experience. The guy working there, Tony, took my car and went through the inspection. AFTER completing the entire inspection, he told me that he wouldn't pass my car until I got new gas cap, because "apparently" the one I had was broken. He then told me that he could send one of his workers over to the Advance Auto Parts chain that is across the street for me. I thought it was a nice gesture and great customer service. This was NOT the case. My total bill was $52. $30 for the state inspection and $22 for the gas cap, BUT the gas cap cost only $16 at the same store that is 0.1 miles away! That's a $6 markup! For what? For walking across the street? I would not allow this, so I told him that I'll walk over there myself and buy a gas cap and he can return the $22 he charged me. His response was to yell at me, in front of other customers, and tell me that he needed the up-charge to pay for his wholesale cost taxes (please note, that he only paid $15 for the cap as a wholesale buyer). I was shocked!! I then went to Advanced Auto Parts store myself where, not surprising, the customer service rep "strongly recommended" that I stay far away from that Shell station, something I plan to do in the future AND YOU SHOULD TOO!! read more
