Do not stay at this campground. We are a full-time family who's been on the road for a year and a…read morehalf. We have never in all of our years of camping or traveling--and we travel a lot--we've never encountered anyone as rude as the general manager and her daughter who basically run the campground. I don't think they own the place, but whoever owns it needs to change management ASAP! The staff at Lost Acres is not liked by locals and they had my family of 4 escorted off the property by local cops because I complained to the daughter about how rude her mom was. They need to be replaced and the owner needs to have more say in what goes on in their campground and if they are the owners than I hope this impacts them because no one I talked to is happy with what's going on under the new management even the poor seasonal people whom most were so kind! We stayed there from August 23-30th. We were supposed to stay until Tuesday after Labor Day. In fact, they enjoyed having our family there so much last weekend, that they let us take a seasonal spot and gave us a discount for staying over the holiday weekend. So we were fine until we complained it seems. I told them we were going to stay in Cincinnati for a couple days and we set up and left our trailer in the new seasonal site they gave us and all was well. We were still paying per night so they weren't giving us any discounts by letting us keep our trailer there. We got back to the campground today August 30th and the lady who works at the front desk and is the general manager --who's been the most unfriendly to us since we arrived and whom the seasonal people and other campers don't seem to care too much for-- was at the booth and we pulled up and asked if we could get a flyer for the events happening this holiday weekend. She wasn't friendly and she looked at us like she was bothered we had our dirt bikes in the back which we'd had every other time we've pulled in-- she told us she didn't have a print out of the fun events our family was looking forward to-- but made sure we knew again that we couldn't ride our dirt bikes and off we drove with that nice "welcome" ringing in our ears. So I walked over to the office and got the flier the person who was welcoming campers said she didn't have and I thought I'd mention what happened to the two woman at the front desk. I happened to bring up the fact that the lady at the gate (general manager) wasn't nice to her daughter who works the front desk and the lady I ori talked to who was kind the entire time. I explained to both of them what had happened and the daughter didn't like what I was saying about her mom and told me if I have further complaints than I'm welcome to leave the campground to which I was very surprised and continued to talk with both ladies as to why I'm being told to leave. As I'm asking for clarification, the daughter asks me to leave because I'm being combative and then she has her mom come over to talk to me while she's on the phone with the cops. The mom comes to talk and I start explaining she wasn't nice to us and she didn't want to hear it and left. Her daughter then tells me to leave the office and I tell her I will wait for the sheriff and my daughter who was playing video games. She said we can both leave and then called the local cops and desc what I was wearing and told them I was being combative so 3 cop cars showed up for this. They apologized for what was happening and were nice to our family. It's too bad the city's resources are being used to be called to this campground for reasons like this. We heard this happens a lot and it's not a good look for the nice town. We luckily ran into some kind locals at the campground who offered for us to stay on their property because they knew we wouldn't be able to find anywhere for the holiday weekend. So there's still good people out there and they were what our family needed and they give this town a good reputation. Let this be a warning if you go stay there. In our opinion, I'd pick anywhere else to stay before having to deal with management at Lost Acres.

We rented the…read morecabin (there's only one on site) and wanted to make a review since it's hard to find info on it. The cabin is tucked away and was difficult to find due to the staff not giving us a map or directions but we found it just after driving the whole park and deciding to go back for directions. The cabin is primitive and you have to bring your own bed clothes, pillows, etc. no running water, electric, or heating/cooling but there is an electrical outlet a little ways from the cabin. You'd need an extension cord to reach the cabin though. Picnic table and fire ring on site. They didn't give us any hassle with bringing our dog which we declared when making the reservation. The cabin is very shaded and I was not worried about my dog over heating. There's also a store on site with basic supplies and you can also buy firewood on site. There were vault toilets right by the cabin but they were intolerable...strong odor, wet floors, you get it...so we would head up to the bath house for the rest rooms. Little bit of a walk so we'd drive up. Those were clean and the showers were free. France Park had a lot of fun things to do including various fishing areas (one being just down the hill from the cabin), a swimming/beach area with an obstacle course on the water, and the coolest disc golf course I've ever seen (we brought our own discs. I didn't check to see if you could rent or buy on site). The course goes through the woods and was very challenging for a beginner like myself but loved the experience. The location is also fairly close to a tubing place called Riverside Rentals and we really enjoyed that river float. Also not too bad of a drive to town if needing supplies. I wish we would have taken more photos but was too consumed in being present and enjoying disconnecting. Overall, the only negative was the vault toilets but we'll definitely be back to enjoy this location. What a gem!

Finally we get to the front and nothing... so my husband gets out to go ask and the lady at the desk INSIDE says yes you have to get out to come check in even though the sign says to wait. Next my daughter is riding her Segway with my husband and they're told "no electric bikes".... Except it isn't a bike. Not even close. The entire time we are there people are FLYING around in gas golf carts (which you have to pay $30 to use your own) and BLARING music the entire time.... Late into the evening and well past 11pm I was scared to let my kids play because I could tell half the drivers were drunk, most were going WAY too fast and many were definitely under 18 (the "required" age to drive one there) yet nothing was said to any of them... only my 6 year old going like 4mph on a Segway. Silly. I spent probably an hour + picking our spot online. I am picky about where we camp and the proximity to certain things. I picked a spot that was toward the side of the campground and had a playground (per the map) at the end of the row. Except THERE WAS NO PLAYGROUND. It had been removed but the map wasn't updated. The entire place was a bit trashy and no well kept. It was beyond disappointing. It's no coincidence that they have google reviews turned off people. That that as a hint and find somewhere else to stay. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Attaching pictures to show the site we stayed at, where there was supposed to be a playground, the sign at the front, etc...

It's quiet, has a nice playground and upgrades in the restrooms but the star of the show is the riverfront. Tippecanoe River is a fantastic river to kayak, swim and fish. You can see all water testing online and the link is on their Facebook page if you want to check it out.

This is a condensed version of a much longer review, but I urge anyone considering camping here to…read moreread it in full. I held a seasonal site here for 6 years, and what I've seen--especially in recent years--needs to be shared. At first glance, weekend campers may not notice the issues. If you're only there for a night or two and don't need help from the owners, you might never see the dysfunction that seasonal guests face. But behind the scenes, it's a different story entirely. There are several large red flags that i want to highlight. #1: The Contract Each year, seasonal campers are required to sign an annual agreement filled with clauses that are ethically questionable and potentially not even legal. (I'm happy to share documentation if requested.) The owner operates under a controlling, authoritarian mindset, where you are expected to remain silent and submissive--despite paying a premium to camp there. Voicing a concern (from something as simple as an electrical or environmental issues) risks you being removed from the campground. If you do need help or need to report a serious issue, don't expect any response via phone, text, email, or otherwise. #2: Water & Septic Yes, the other reviews are true. The water STINKS--not like well water or sulfur, but like actual raw sewage. Turning on a faucet in your camper is enough to make you gag. You do not feel comfortable showering or washing your dishes based on the smell alone. IDEM reports show that high levels of e-coli has been detected in campground water samples for at least two years. Yet, campers were never notified. That's public health negligence, and yes, the reports are publicly available on the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's website. As for the septic system, (which is a loosely used term) it is just a series of steel drums buried underground that have been there since the campground opened 50 years ago. No upgrades, no replacements. Just consider that for a moment, especially knowing the river is only about 40 yards away. #3: Invitation-Only Return Policy Your ability to return each year is based on an "invitation-only" policy. This allows the owner to keep campers walking on eggshells, afraid to say anything or stand up for themselves. It's a power trip, and it completely undermines any sense of community or trust. #4: Campground Conditions Maintenance is virtually nonexistent unless done by the seasonals themselves, who take pride in their own sites. The bath house is a disgrace--overflowing toilets, black mold in the corners, and showers in such unsanitary condition that you wouldn't wash your dog in them, let alone yourself or your children. It's teetering on being a public health hazard. Additionally, this campground is listed as "self-serve" meaning there is no camp host, nor anybody on the property if a situation were to arise. It also poses a concern of the safety of your belongings as there is no gate, people are allowed to drive in and out as they please. Final Thoughts I am not a disgruntled camper looking to cause drama. My family was well-liked within the campground community, and we had no issues with our fellow campers. This review is written because people need to know what's really happening at TRR and under the ownership of Sarah Straeter-Tackett and to proceed with caution. I have posted this review on various platforms and it is usually met with a defensive reply full of gaslighting, false claims, or "counter" reviews from her family. In fact every single positive review on this platform is from someone in her family and not anyone who actually camps there. That's the pattern. Take it all with a grain of salt. If you value transparency, safety, and a respectful camping experience--look elsewhere

From what we saw almost everyone had permanent homes here. Our original campground had a water main break so we were a little desperate and had to find something quickly. There also was about 20 minutes of loud rap music around 1 am but it finally stopped. bathroom are spartan (although they did clean them as they smelled of cleaner). The campground is located right off the expressway, so it's very easy to get to. I get the feeling this campground caters more to long term/ seasonal campers who set up their campers and stay all season. Tent sites are hard to come by and are pretty scattered. Since we were camping with another couple there was apparently on one site that could accommodate us. We arrived on a Thursday and the campground was pretty quiet and sparsely populated. Friday, as expected, the crowd thickened. Apparently this particular Saturday was something like "Half Off Day Pass Admission" day, because the beach was swamped with people -- NONE of them following any COVID guidelines or wearing a mask. Not. A. Single. One. They did a cool thing and put a water down the hill from the hill by the beach to the water. That was nifty, but dozens of people ( kids mostly ) in line to ride it looked like fun but, again, no social distancing or masks. Same thing goes for the 2,807 golf carts so crammed in by the beach that one very nearly ran over one of our dogs with no regard. The restrooms/showers we cleaned a couple times a day and are pretty conveniently placed throughout the park. There are a few playgrounds around and the pool is pretty decently sized for a campground. Gonna have to ding this campground on a couple things. First: Speed limits. Throughout the park there a speed limit signs. Those signs say "Speed Limit 5". I have absolutely no issue with a 5 mph speed limit in a place like this. You've got kids, dogs, people walking and riding bikes and scooters all day long. My issue is that the speed limit is not enforced...at all....anywhere. Cars zoom buy our campsite at 20-30 miles an hour routinely. I would like to add that the speed limit apparently doesn't not apply to golf carts. They are clearly the biggest offender when it comes to the speed limit. Second: Quiet Hours. From their website: Quiet Hours Sunday - Thursday 10 pm to 8 am Friday & Saturday Midnight to 8 am Quiet hours are not enforced. This particular weekend (we were there for three nights), golf carts with radios playing loudly could be heard as late as 2:30 a.m. They should just be called "not so quiet hours". I will give the campground high marks on the camp store (the only place where COVID guidelines were enforced), and the quality if the firewood. Sometimes campground firewood can be pretty hit-or-miss, but the firewood here was plentiful for the price and was good quality, making keeping your fire alive pretty easy.
