Dr. Wortman was a fantastic eye doctor. I just had my first appointment with him yesterday and was…read morevery pleased with how thorough he was. My appointment was at 3, and I ended up being admitted by 3:30. I expected a bit of a wait because when do you ever go to the doctor and be admitted on time? Once I was in the examination room, I felt I had Dr. Wortman's full attention. He made sure to explain to me every thing he was doing and what that meant, and how he viewed my progress. He fitted me for contacts and truly listened to me when I said, I want quality, but cheap contacts. He tried on two pairs on my right eye and we finally settled on a good fit, which was reasonably priced and good quality. I am definitely very pleased with my experience here and found Dr. Wortman to be very personable, thorough, and he made me very comfortable throughout the whole process.

I went on Yelp and he was the first office that accepted Drexel's Student Health Insurance (Sidenote: Why doesn't Modern Eye on Penn's campus take any student health insurance?) and were able to get me in at 11am the next day. I walked in today and was seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time and Dr. Wortman was really awesome! He took my poor, mangled spectacles and said he could give me 2 options with them: Try to tape me back up so I could get by or try to find me a pair of frames that matches the lens and switch them out. He was very up front in telling me he couldn't promise that he would have something that would fit around but he got someone to look while we did the exam. I thought that was very awesome, as most optometrists that I have gone to in the past were not so accommodating. They were able to find a pair of frames that matched my lenses! I now had a nice, sleep pair of (inexpensive) black frames. They even got all of the glue and things that wer eon the lenses from my frantic attempts to keep my glasses together! The lady that helped pick out my glasses was also really helpful. She let me sit and she picked out glasses based on the colors and stuff I wanted. I wanted something a bit funky. We found the perfect frames for me (thank god I didn't pick the most expensive) and she was great about helping me find the perfect pair with the right options at the right price for me. I can't wait to pick up my hot new glasses within two weeks, but thanks to Dr. Wortman, I'll be just fine in the meantime.

One of the things that is ABSOLUTELY consistent with his practice is that the office staff is cranky and rude. I LOVE Dr. Angelini - hes super nice and always listens and makes suggestions if i have problem with contacts, however, the rudeness of the front desk staff makes me loathe this place. The one lady is older and has a hard time understanding me, which would be fine if her counterpart wasn't such a nasty bitch. I have never been treated so poorly by any office staff and I will not be returning. Its also safe to say that my FIVE brothers and sisters, their families and my father will not be returning either due to this rudeness. They are condescending and do not listen. The glasses cost a lot of money for the lenses and frames - you would think they would come back quickly and made correctly so I wouldn't have to try coming back to get them fixed. This business seems shoddy to me - it's deceiving because they are in such a nice location, and the prices they charge are so high.

However, I recently had two instances that were not respectable of my time. A new staff member called on a Thursday to tell me my glasses were ready and that they could be picked up that day or the following day Friday between 10am-5pm. To my surprise, the establishment was not open at 10:45am which was after the said time of 10am. I waited a half an hour and had to leave. I was contacted after leaving a voicemail, and as a courtesy, my glasses were forwarded via courier to my place of work. I then decided to schedule an appointment for my daughter, but the website was inconsistent with the actual hours of operation. A call was placed to schedule an appointment for my daughter and reached the new staff member that had previously provided incorrect hours of operation. However, I proceeded to make an appointment for my daughter which was for 4/16/19 at 4. Upon my daughter arriving she was told her appointment was for yesterday 4/15 and that she was a "No Show".
