She was kind, attentive, professional, and thorough during my exam. She took the time to answer my questions and made me feel comfortable throughout the process. I would gladly recommend her. Unfortunately, my experience with the office manager, was the exact opposite. Less than 5 hours after my appointment, I reached out to request that they cancel my eyeglass order but the office was already closed. I was in contact again at 8:14 the next morning. Just before 11AM, I spoke to the office manager. I was repeatedly told that my insurance company would not allow the cancellation because the lab had already started processing the order but that they can pause it and still offer upgrades or exchange of frames. After contacting the insurance company myself, I learned that was simply not true. A representative from Davis Vision told me, "They aren't being honest" and confirmed that my claim had not been submitted yet. They also explained even if it had been submitted, the order could still be canceled as long as the office verified that I had requested the cancellation. When the insurance company contacted New Vision, New Vision told them that they would not honor my cancellation request because I signed a paper that stated no cancellations after "24 hours." I then asked for a copy of the paperwork I had signed because I believed I was still within the stated cancellation window based on the information that was provided to the insurance company. I was told by New Path staff that the documents were available in my patient portal, but they were not. I asked for them to be emailed and was told that would violate HIPAA. I then asked if someone could simply read the cancellation policy to me over the phone and was told that was also a HIPAA violation. One staff member, who I believe was Michelle, was kind, professional, and genuinely tried to help. She offered to check with the office manager about faxing me the documents, but I never received them. I ultimately went to the office to speak to staff in person. Only then did the office manager acknowledge the decision NOT to cancel my order was New Path's, NOT the insurance company's and this was based on the paper that was signed. *Note: throughout the process I was provided with conflicting explanations of the cancellation window- "you have a day to cancel", "24 hours" and "same day". The entire interaction with the office manager felt misleading and unprofessional. It wasn't until I mentioned disputing the charge with my credit card company that she agreed to issue a refund, minus $9 in "credit card fees". To add to the confusion, I woke up the next day to an email that was sent at 4:06AM stating that my future appointment had been canceled. No further explanation provided. Dr. Huynh deserves five stars, but the office manager's deflection, lack of transparency and professionalism left me with a very disappointing impression of the practice.

Of course when I try to order the new ones that I like, only then do I find out it's several hundred dollars more. I didn't feel heard or understood by the doctor or the staff. When I scheduled my eye exam, I was told a doctor would be on-site. However, when I arrived, I learned that no doctor was present, and the exam would be done via telehealth because of the holiday. I was not informed of this beforehand. Although the waiver mentioned telehealth, I was not told that AI technology would be used as part of the exam process. When I asked which system was being used, neither the staff nor the remote doctor could identify it. I was only told the technology was outsourced through a third-party IT provider. As someone with a technical background, the lack of clarity was concerning. The findings from this AI-assisted telehealth exam did not match the results from my previous in-person eye exam with a licensed doctor, which made me question whether the virtual setup was able to provide the same level of detail or accuracy as a traditional exam. Additionally: Several components of a standard in-person exam -- including dilation and certain diagnostic checks -- were not performed. The person handling equipment onsite stated he had two weeks of training and was not medically certified. Staff also expressed that doctor availability varies by location and ownership, and couldn't confirm when an on-site doctor would next be available ("possibly next Saturday, but it could change"). I want to note that the employees at the front desk were professional and polite. My concerns are strictly about transparency, consistency, and whether the services provided match what patients believe they are receiving, especially when insurance is involved. Based on my experience, I no longer feel comfortable receiving exams at this location and will be seeking an in-person medical evaluation elsewhere. I believe patients deserve clear communication about whether a doctor is physically present, whether AI is involved, and what type of exam they are actually receiving.

I'm upset that I've been coming here for so long and when glasses are old or new they want to make the same excuse as to why they are in a condition they can't fix. this will be my last time going to America's Best because what good are the deals if they end up in a condition so quickly that can't be fixed. The next time I stop in, will be to pick up a copy of our scripts to find quality glasses that won't be an issue or through a company who stands behind their glasses.
