1 Star for Walmart, but 5 Stars for an Incredible Manager! I am generally not a fan of Walmart, and the store itself earns a 1-star rating at best. However, I am leaving this review specifically to recognize the incredible manager who went above and beyond to help me. On Thursday, June 4th, around mid-morning, I went to this location to return a chair I ordered online from Walmart that ended up being too small for my daughter. At the customer service counter, the guy told me that they couldn't accept the return unless the chair was completely disassembled and boxed up. I laughed and told the guy.."your kidding, right?" The problem was, I had already tried to take it apart at home, but a dumb locking mechanism made it impossible for me to separate the pieces. The guy at the counter didn't laugh nor did he care about my problem. He told me to go speak with the manager, who happened to be nearby filling out paperwork at a register. I went over to talk to him and explained the situation, he didn't hesitate to help. He actually went to the back, grabbed a screwdriver, and personally went to work on the chair. Even for him, it wasn't easy. He had a tough time getting the mechanism to release, but he eventually got it apart. To top it off, he even helped me box the whole thing up. I thanked him over and over again. I didn't catch his name, but he is a truly great guy who deserves recognition. Give this man a raise, or better yet, someone offer him a better job. He has a level of dedication and work ethic that goes way beyond what you normally expect to find here! Thank you again Mr. Manager. read more

I've been to this location a handful of times and it's a mess. I don't feel safe leaving my car unattended in the parking lot due to the homeless camps (not Walmart's fault, but still). The shelves are always empty and I leave without what I came in for. If they knew how to manage there team, they would have more customers leaving good reviews. Let's break it down, 1) there are more kids working there then kids going to school. (What a shame!) 2) no managers after 9pm. How can you run a business without guiding them kids. 3) there should be more employees to handle the volume of customers. 4) get your orders out that people have order, and come to pick them up. Not have them wait for 2hrs, and I repeat no wait times longer then a half hr. What good is it for anyone to deal with such a lake of care! There needs to be change, and I'm not talking about the 20 some odd security you guys employee they don't check in and out people and they do not help the staff there what's the point of having security when you can't even keep the customer satisfied with the amount of employees you guys don't have. read more

Yesterday, I purchased a set of 4 teeshirts for my fiance. I did this purchase with an online non-reloadable gift card by Mastercard. As soon as my purchase was accepted, I received an email saying my card is now expired. That's expected. HOWEVER... What is not expected, is when we go to pick up from the store, and my fiance said the teeshirts were not his size nor is V-neck his style (my bad, babe), but they said they could not give him a store credit for an exchange. They said they put the money back to my Mastercard. Unbeknownst to him, my email had just said the non-reloadable gift card by Mastercard was now defunct. Money did not make it back to my gift card. No matter whom I spoke to from 800-Walmart or the store number, and the various people they forwarded me to, keeping me running in circles, they said they couldn't give me instore credit or an exchange. The corporate number operator told me to go back to the store and talk to the manager. They said they couldn't do anything. Walmart STOLE my money and wasted our time! read more

I usually do not shop for groceries at walmart, but needed a non grocery item as well. Store was a cluttered mess. Never found my non grocery item. Had a hard time finding a grocery item, asked 3 employees who sent me on a wild goose chase. The heads of lettuce were flat no solid head, green onions were size of pencils. Quality not there. Walmart fans, beware. Even the most avid supporter is likely to find something wrong here. It's a combination of things: the chaotic parking situation (carts everywhere), messy aisles (no cleanup?), but worst of all, the customer service is atrocious. I haven't had many issues with Walmart employees ever, but the exception lies here. Numerous incidents include: * Being ignored to where I had to chase someone down to get their attention. Someone had accidentally slipped when stepping into a puddle of some kind of drink. Apparently clean up is not their forte. * A lot of "it's over there" with a shrug and a point, instead of being escorted to where an item is actually located. * Slow, painfully slow waits at the register. Apparently no one ever mans the self-pay station, or I would gladly check myself out. * Hearing snickers from nearby employees when they see me picking up items that fell off a shelf and attempting to place them back in an orderly fashion. * Seeing lots of workers on their cell phones. Sitting on either furniture for sale or on benches and not working at all. This isn't break time, because with a little shout they bounce up to ring up the register. * The parking lot guy slowly picking up carts only to get on his phone and then being honked at for blocking traffic. Salem drivers are pretty patient, so honks almost never happen. Is there an upside? The people who shop there. If you didn't believe the popular blog (ahem) was true, just come on over. Thank you Walmart I am now eating much more healthy than ever. I have lowered my meat and egg intake greatly. I'm not eating unhealthy snacks or any junk food. I've greatly reduced by need for butter, and dairy products. It's a shame you don't seem to realize that you will lose a lot of people who have learned some financial discipline during the pandemic like myself. I shudder to think how much food is going to waste!! Walmart was never that cheap and is sometimes more than comparable supermarkets in the area for the exact same brands. In addition your meat and produce are certainly not any better and often worse than cheaper stores. Also keeping underware, socks and a host of other products under lock and key and treating ALL your customers like shoplifters isn't very smart. Not happy with the door greeter letting shoppers in not wearing a mask. There is a huge sign at the in door stating masks must be worn yet I saw 6 people without one on. Several people were wearing them wrong. Come on walmart you have enough shoppers you can afford to enforce the rules. read more

You used to like going to Walmart. But today was the straw that broke the camels back. I went here buying food and some batteries. Looked for several minutes only to be told yeah you can get them at the register ugh fine okay. Start checking out ask for batteries on you have to get them on seven......omg okay. Try to pay but nope Walmart no longer accepts samsung pay and went out of there way to block it. When it worked in the past. They want you to use Walmart pay...went back to my car got my wallet and bought just my food I should have left it and went home. Last time lesson learned. read more

I ordered groceries for pick up, and half of the items were not there after I got home, yet I was charged for the full amount. Also, half of the items were not bagged, just thrown in my trunk. I called to get a refund on the items that were missing, and the manager put me on hold for over 20 minutes. I will be contacting my bank regarding this incident. If Walmart steals from me again, I have no problem calling the police and filing theft charges. read more

Ordered a $200 camcorder online, paid for it in advance and came to the store to pick it up. They said they didn't have one in stock and had to refund our purchase. We walked over to electronics and had the associate get the exact camcorder and that associate went with us back to pickup counter. Since we had already paid for the item we just asked that we could have the one since they were the exact model number at the exact to the penny price. They claimed we had to wait 3-5 days for a refund to process first then we could purchase it again or we could just pay again. It was my kids birthday or I would have just walked, but now I'm out $400 and just hanging out waiting for my refund to come in... I really have other things I'd rather do with my money than leave it in Walmart's account. Had it been my error, so be it. Seriously ...I waited 20 minutes in line to do a return. In this timeframe I watched the clerk haggle over a $2 basket with the customer...the customer service mgr was up there 3 times but didn't assist us...there were 5 customers behind me. Finally my turn was up and I had a bag of items to return. The clerk attempted to deny me as I didn't have stickers on my items! The guy working the front door was more concerned bout going on break then to check my items..so the mgr approved the return...after waiting 30 minutes at this point in which I had read the signs on the wall about returns enough times I knew it by heart...my total was $58.98 ..no receipt. "Did you read the sign" yes! There's nothing about $50 limit...oh there's this laminated paper that explains this ...ok fine!!! Just return up $50 and I'll go on my way! By far the greatest store all of the Face of the earth! I can find literally ANYTHING here, food, clothes, guns, iPads, boats, medicine, get a hair cut or pedicure, you name it! Still stuck with a faulty battery they sold me and won't exchange even though their battery come with a 3 year Replacement... they played games with me for so long that time frame expired.. long story short curse word to you Walmart. That happened about a year ago and I have not walked into another Walmart since.. I get much much better service from ace hardware, target, Fred Meyers, Roths iga, I will pay the tad bit extra to get a huge amount of service and time saved in lines. I definitely recommend shopping at the other locations in Salem, OR. Last time I was here was a few days ago, in the evening. I expected there to be not as many customers; I was wrong. though that wasn't the issue. The issue is the customers to employees ratio. To open registers. We were in the EXPRESS lane and it was about a 15 minute wait, with 20+ people in line at each register. Most of the cashiers are not trying to be finished scanning anytime soon, nor do they look or act happy to be there. Also, the place REEKED like BO, bad breath, and possibly vomit. Cleanliness is definitely an issue. I had to shower immediately once I got home because I still smelled like this Walmart.. gross! But, like any other Walmart, the prices are amazing. Great cart pushers always have carts stacked. Never have a problem with carts unlike other Walmart's. There's a cart pusher who I see often and he is very respectful and helpful I believe his name is Jesus. Deserves a raise ! Will be going back. Love this Walmart read more

I usually love this Walmart but the cart pusher that they had were two young guys and were extremely rude. First off there was no carts anywhere and these young men would just keep ignoring me and had their headphones on. Extremely rude and disrespectful! Horrible customer service. And lazy assistant manager. Just called 12/13/20 at 5:40pm. I already spoke with the head manager and she advised me that my return would be processed by the next day. It has been days now since that call and still nothing. You guys have already made a mistake on my online order as it WAS incorrect from what I ordered. I still have all the screenshots to prove it. So you waisted my time and gas money to come down there and NOT even pickup the item I ordered. I returned the INCORRECT order immediately, and it never processed. I ordered a table from this Wal-Mart to be picked up and just trying to see if they had it in stock before I ordered it, I was transferred about 5 times and put on hold for over 15 minutes. I can barely hear what anyone is saying whenever I call and recently I called to see if our table was ready since it has been in the city for the last 24 hours, and was basically hung up on. I will absolutely NEVER order stuff from here again just so I don't have to deal with the awful employees. Where do you people get off with having your yellow vest door watchers that treat paying customers like we are all thieves. Just tonight I purchased an item and was leaving your store and a yellow vest man with white hair working the door approached me in such an offensive manner as to try and block my exit from your store that I had to skirt around the ice machine to get by. He then proceeded to ask me if I had a receipt, which I did have clearly visible in hand as your electronics employee had run out of bags large enough for my item. I turned to him so he could see the receipt, stated "Yes, I do." and kept walking. He then proceeded to verbally harass me multiple times as I left the store shouting that he needed me to stop and let him inspect the receipt. I did not sign an agreement with your store like one does with say Costco. There are many reasons I try my hardest to not shop at Walmart and this approach of surrendering papers at the door in a guilty until proven innocent fashion is unexcusable. I left shaken and disturbed by my experience to the point of writing this message now. I hope others see this message and can relate or prepare themselves for an experience like this at your store. Pick Up system is ridiculous! I have trouble walking, so I ordered my items online & came to pick them up...Signs for where to Pick Up & designated parking stalls are marked, BUT phone # is redacted. Inside the store was no better! Signs directed me in my wheelycart to a line, nope, then "back of the store" nope, finally the 3RD employee that I asked was able to kindly direct me to a hidden area! Almost impossible to get in and out of this store! They have 300 employee's but 4 cashiers during peak hours. Recently I stood in line for 40 minutes with three items in my hand. The employee's that are working there are doing the best they can, they are over worked, and Im sure under paid. You can see it on their faces, that everyone is mean to them about the lines but I've complained to management about it and it always falls on deaf ears. "We had a lot of call in's", "We're hiring more", etc Its always the same excuse. When you find someone on the floor its great, they take you to the item, or tell you about it but it all comes down to leaving... Hire more cashiers! read more
