We really appreciate the cashiers at Winco on Commercial. They are helpful, fast and fun to talk with going through the line. Thank you for all you do.! Especially with some unpleasant customers. read more

Winco is real. Grocery shopping is what you make it. The prices are unbelievable. The employees are always happy and helpful. This store is super busy, because it's amazing! Because it is so busy here, the employees are working non-stop to replenish the shelves. To me, busy=fresh! I shop here almost every day. (I live close, I have 3 kids, and we walk.) If your interactions with staff are unpleasant, I challenge you to flip the mood around. You could change the vibe of the entire store. Give it a try! read more

Yet another unwelcoming interaction from Crystal at self checkout. Idk why they continue allowing this volatile person to work with customers. No matter what they do, she's upset with them. Oh winco. The struggle is real. read more

1. Saw kids and their parents eating out of bulk bins without regard that I was watching then. Yuck. I 2. I like using my credit card to purchase everyhing because I earn mileage that way, but Winco doesn't take credit cards, so now I'm shopping elsewhere. read more

Winco has fallen far from grace since changing their name and expanding! Their meat products have a funky unnatural after taste and their produce is ALWAYS ROTTEN! Looks like it should have been thrown away weeks earlier, but no, Winco still has that rotten food for sale! Only store worse than Winco is Wheeler Dealer! read more

Although I regret having to bring my three children shopping with me at this very busy Winco location I can't regret the very affordable prices for everything I've been searching for, but could not find, at other grocery stores. Since most of the cooking I do at home involves the use of Aloha Shoyu brand soy sauce (and not Kikkoman, a much stronger tasting soy sauce) I did a happy little hop when I found my favorite shoyu on the Asian foods aisle. Also found my kids' favorite instant noodles, Ichiban Ramen. If you've been a lifelong Oodles of Noodles consumer (a.k.a. Top Ramen, a.k.a. disgusting) and never tried Ichiban, then you have not yet lived a full life. A few other treasures found: Garlic Naan for $2.49 (best packaged garlic naan I've found so far, even better than Trader Joe's), and curry powder and smoked hot paprika from the bulk foods section. They even have tapioca flour, sweetened coconut flakes, and raw cane sugar. These will come in handy for islander-type snacks that I plan to make later this summer. Just like Food 4 Less, be prepared to bag your own groceries. I think you save a few cents for bringing your own shopping bags. I also loved the fast food counter located right past the check out where you can purchase slices of pizza or soft serve ice cream on your way out. Love this place. Next time, no kids! read more

I really don't understand how they greet their customers. They chicken breast super dry still sold to the customer . read more

So today I went to Winco and they were out of so many stuff and I was not happy. They are usually not clean and I wish I had a better trip.

I've been to the store a few times for specific items. It's usually quite busy and has a wide selection of items. I usually use the self check out so I can't say how the cashiers are. read more

Just made my last shopping trip to WinCo. Service and quality has gone to crap. For the elderly and the handicapped they have eliminated all the electric carts; tuff it out or go home I guess. For the diabetic shopper, just forget about it - jellies had 6 open boxes of low sugar strawberry and that was it. They did not g have "any" chicken wings at 0900 on a Wednesday. Produce was very weak. Hello Walmart and so long WinCo. You should sell out before we you have to file chapter 11! read more

Winco is essentially everything that Whole Foods is not. When one doesn't care about organic produce, clipboard carrying parking lot attendees, alternative brands and the like, it's places like Winco that fill the need. Budget conscious shoppers, this is as affordable as it gets. Sure, Winco is dated but so are the prices. This is a great thing. When one can score massive avocados (3 for $1.29), a sack of 10 chicken breast ($6.99), and medium box of cereal for $3.29, that's just over $10 in groceries. Oregon's lack of sales tax will never get old. Never. The store is big. It's enough to where some people might think they're shopping at Walmart, sans clothes and electronics. The "people of Walmart" are also likely to appear, so another bonus is the people watching. This also includes the employees, except they're a much more helpful bunch. If the Whole Foods rant above was a turn off, know they have a stealthy selection of organic goods as well. Cheap prices doesn't mean that it everything has to be processed food and covered in lard, but there are definitely alternatives to the evil Monsanto empire. And the other bonus? It's 24 hours. This means if one doesn't want to deal with the long register lines or crowds (never that much of a problem), graveyard shift shopping is totally doable. read more

I love Winco because it saves me a great deal of money. They don't have much in the way of organic produce here but there are some great things to pick up here at great prices: 1. Bulk foods: they have all sorts of rice, flours, pastas and various other items. They have organic oatmeal, brown rice pasta, and plenty of different rices. It's usually less than 1/2 the price of what it is elsewhere. (If you have a gluten intolerance they have all the flours you need in bulk.) 2. Cheeses: They buy big blocks of cheeses and cut smaller portions for consumption. Find that cheddar cheese and mozzarella tend to run much cheaper than other stores. 3. Foreign foods: If you don't have time to hit a Mexican supermarket or Asian market they always have a good selection of foods at decent prices. All the food here is well priced. If you're on a budget it's the perfect grocery store for you. If you eat a lot of organic foods you may have to hit other stores. read more

THIS STORE IS OLD, DIRTY, CRAMPED, CROWDED, and desperately in need of replacing. The parking lot is falling apart and routinely issues are surrounded by "grocery cart barricades." They need a new store, but the smart city planners of the past in Salem have seemingly forgot to consider that a growing city might need commercial land for the future and just shove 90% of south Salem commerce activity onto one frickin' road. read more

I like Winco because of their employee owned business model and competitive pricing. I do think they are not investing enough in upgrading their check out technology. For instance, checkers do not have wands to scan heavier items in the shopping carts so customers have to lift things up on the rolling platform. Employees are friendly and the store where I shop is usually always clean. read more

Great service, only thing sucks about going in there is the other people but that's not something they can or you can control

I am so sorry I did not get a name! I had, had a day!!! (Long story. Not related) BUT to the employee that helped me today with the Critter mix, then peanut butter and then the turkey THANK YOU!!! I was having the worst day and you genuinely made my day better! Even after you clocked off! I really wish I had gotten your name. If a manager sees this the male employee that helped me today 11/18/19 somewhere between 3:30-5 deserves a raise!! read more

I really enjoyed shopping here and their prices are very good especially in the grocery aisles and everything else, produce ,Bakery ,Deli and Seafood. Dairy area does a nice job. The meat Dept, I don't by certain cuts of beef here NY steaks, and rib eye's, way to lean for my taste. Flank and skirt steaks are fine. Best time to shop here is before 10 am and after 7pm not so buzzy. This is a employee owned company. read more

We shop here simply because the products are cheaper, not because of service or convenience. But we are selective about what we buy. I don't buy anything from the deli or their own packaged meat. This week we did our monthly shopping and I forgot my rule. I asked for some sliced deli turkey and stopped counting when the lady touched 7 things using the same gloves. Gloves are not condoms for the user but to protect the customer from infection. We buy canned or not Winco packaged products. Although I will admit to buy produce. read more

From the lady cracking her gum in my ear in the checkout line to the little kid stuffing his own version of free samples that really aren't free into his gob at the bulk candy station, I love everything about Winco. I relish my trips there as the perfect combination of entertainment and low prices that allow me to conduct endless mad scientist kitchen experiments to invent the perfect cookie dough, or homemade pasta, or whatever. Their scandalously cheap bulk dry goods section allows me to do this, and the almost equally as cheap produce area helps out just as much. From tomatillos and roma tomatoes for 90 cents a pound to just being able to buy nutritional yeast and unsweetened coconut powder somewhere else than an expensive natural foods store, this place really does it for me. Its sheer volume is a constant reminder that I live in a country so rich with resources and wealth that stores like Winco can dedicate a whole superstore-sized isle just to tortillas and salsa varieties. That makes me count my blessings instead of sneering at the big box element that is unavoidable there. There is something about huge grocery stores that makes for amazing people watching. Many cultures funnel into this place and I find myself getting very distracted while eavesdropping on family dynamics and what's in a mysterious looking fellow's cart. The expression, "food for thought" always comes to mind at Winco. read more

My family has been shopping at this store since 1976 when we moved to Salem. I have never until now had a problem but I am extremely disappointed in the service over a water jug!! I refill my 5 gallon water jugs once a month and last night the cart I was using somehow caused 2 of my jugs to crack and the store is not willing to replace these. I know it was a problem with the cart because the crack was not there when I filled it with water, or it would have leaked all over the floor! but after putting it in the cart it was broken. I was told that the store can't replace something that has been "used", it's a REFILLABLE JUG!!!!!! The integrity of this store has gone way too low...... nice way to treat such a long time customer WINCO Salem, Oregon read more

Never has adequate checkers, always lines every time. Seriously hire people who can work a friggin register! Oh and the new checkout stands suck! Hope the rest of the remodel is much better. read more

I've always shopped at Winco because I love that they are employee owned but this is my least favorite Winco, and unfortunately it's the closest one to my house. The lines are always insanely long because there's never enough cashiers (doesn't matter if you go on a weekday or weekend morning/afternoon/or evening) and every time you use the U-scan they are always messing up and there is never anyone at their station to assist; it's maddening. Today will probably be my last visit to this location as it's just been a year or the same issues. I'd rather pay more at Fred's or Safeway where I can get in and out quicker, what a bummer. read more

Super rude people working here, I called to ask what their hours were and I couldn't here her over the phone and asked her to repeat what she said and she hung up on me. read more

I do a lot of shopping at winco and that won't stop but I wish they'd join the "bottle drop" program...

Unfailingly pleasant employee's even when frustrated at times by the self checkers that can be temperamental and I have heavily whined about it - trust me . Despite my complaining they have been understanding friendly and polite. Almost always there are enough employee's around that you can ask any questions and receive an instant direct answer, and though it's a large store the employees always seem to know exactly where everything is. That sounds like it is the norm for any business but sadly it is no longer so. The prices are THE best in town far better than the Grocery Outlet who often don't have standard items like vanilla ice cream and the ridiculously over priced Wheeler Dealer store. Not to mention there is a large selection of brands to choose from. I actually love this place!! read more

This store is busy, busy, busy. If you go in the middle of the night be warned that they are re stocking almost every aisle in the store. They have to restock some time and since they are 24hrs open. This will be the best time. Bagging your own groceries takes some getting used to. Also they don't take any credit cards! They do however take debt cards! You must have a 4 digit pin to be able to pay for your goods. read more

What's to be said about Winco? It's one of the best super stores I have ever found. Its huge, they have everything, and the prices are pretty good. Only complaint would be long lines at checkout, and you have to bag everything yourself. If you can deal with that you'll agree with me, Winco is great. read more

Always packed...even worse than the South Salem one. Whatever. It's Winco...so you get what you get. This particular Winco is not in the best part of town...so watch out for the parking lot, 'cause if my memory serves me right, its had its shares of break-ins, attempted rapes and burglaries. So basically...stay away! read more

Always busy unless you go in the middle of the night. If you do go that late have fun dodging forklifts and people stocking the shelves with goods. Overall good prices and a good produce section. read more

This place is a bonafide nightmare!!!! Shopping here feels like moving around inside an ant colony. I'm a very organized shopper, and didn't even have time to cross things off my list, because inevitably some asshat was trying to ram me with their cart as soon as I stopped. As for the store itself, it's not too bad. The prices are decent. If you're looking for lowfat options of anything (ie; cheese, sour cream), you would probably do better elsewhere. I still have to go to another store for some of my regular staples because they couldn't be found here. I won't fault the store for their shitty clientele - but I will not be returning. And whichever reviewer talked about the parking lot - it's true! I got called a "stupid f**king bi**h" as I was trying to leave, further cementing my decision to never EVER go back. read more

Its a place to shop. It has more stuff than most supermarkets, wide selection of fruits, vegetables, meat, frozen foods, etc. Most importantly, their prices are very low. I wouldnt bother to look at prices for items I need because I know I am not going to pay an outrageous amount for them. This is a wholesale food market and full service isnt availabe. Bag it yourself and save. I live distance away but I am willing to drive out to get deals. read more

Ha ha wico here we go. This place is a mother fu#!ing freak show. You Wana see the spicy side of life go here. Great I mean the best prices around. It's packed it's ghetto it's winco! Deal with it. Get your food and get out. No big deal. Anywhere you shop is going to be packed what do you expect. Save some $$ read more

Best price in groceries in Salem. There's a reason why this place is so busy. Everyone loves it, you always seem to walk out with more then you went in for. Friendly service with a smile. They do stay open 24 hours and do have to restock the shelves some point. It happens in the early hours of the morning. So Don't be shocked if it I'd hard to get around the storee in these hours. read more

It's a nice big store with pretty darn good prices. I just don't care for the layout of the store. But other than that I have never had a problem with the store. read more

I enjoy shopping at Winco whenever I need to buy food. however, my last visit was more eventful than the little kids running everywhere and the "adults" standing in the way talking about some game. no, the last time i went there, the register lady was moody and the yuppie couple was not helping. other than the mean queen and her two goblins from magic land, I really enjoy shopping at Winco. read more
