The hubby and stopped here to grab a few things. We were pleasantly surprised to see how clean and well organized this establishment was. Nothing like all the other Walmarts we have been too before. No ghetto trash in pajamas wandering around. Clean respectable decent folks. This Walmart is HUGE! If they dont have it then no place does. I'm a sucker for Walmart & its Walmart what much is there to say? I like to hit up the clearance section, stop by the pharmacy & say hi to my high school friend/pharmacist Chris. I've had some vaccinations here before & remember the one time this older female was giving me a hard time about getting a COVID vaccine when they were offering the first booster. Told me I was too young for it....that's BS & she seemed like a miserable person. Still not a fan of produce @ any Walmart as its not the best looking. Its easy to get in & out of. Went to use photo center, internet didn't work and no phone service and no one to help.

Stopped at this Walmart on my way into Portsmouth from the Lakes Region. It worked out great. I know that Walmart carries The Pickle Juice Company extra strength pickle juice shots and I forgot to bring them with me on my trip. I picked up a few of those and a box of Drake's Cakes Ring Dings. I went to college on the East Coast and became a Ring Ding enthusiast. It was nice to be able to bring a box home with me. Very fruitful Walmart visit! read more

No customer service. Told me to come back in an hour. Man was too busy watching people not steal instead of the two people who needed help.

Car Care Center backed our car into another car. Three thousand dollars worth of damage. Not a single apology from the manager. They were rude and unprofessional during the entire process. I had to call the police to get them to put it in writing that they damaged the car. Car Care manger said to get an estimate and bring it to them. Fortunately I knew that couldn't be correct and drove around to the front of the store where an insurance claim was started. They will not pay for a rental. The car is not drivable because the tail light was damaged. We're without a car for a month. We strongly suggest you look elsewhere for tires. Accidents happen but this was handled poorly. The security team was very nice and verified that they had footage of the incident. It wasn't until that happened and the police showed up that I finally got something in writing. read more

I paid for my propane at 6pm...it is 637pm right now and it took that long for someone to come outside and help. not only did we go inside the store 2 times to ask for help. I've talked to Evan the manager about the problem and he seems to not care. worst Walmart you could possibly go to. I've waited outside for longest of an hour a 42 minutes before. if you feel like standing outside in the cold snow that long with rude consumer service and people who refuse to help you, then this is the location to go to. otherwise save your time and go somewhere else with better customer service and not a horrible manager. Convenient, but I mean get a grip. I went there for cat food and 1/2 a pound of cheese at the deli. I've been trying to phone the store and it just rings and rings. Tried three times and each time I let it ring 20 minutes. Tried once more and after 10 rings someone finally picked up. I asked to speak to grocery and currently on hold for 12 minutes. I understand we have a shortage of help here but come on...at least get back to me and let me know. Ahh yes, now I remember why I actively avoid Walmart's... cheap costs equal cheap service. I talked with a woman in the auto department and penciled in a day to change out my tires and oil. I took the day off from work, and moved my schedule around only to find out that the woman never put me in their books. The worst part was neither the woman nor the man who were in the shop when I came in for my "scheduled time" seemed phased at all. No apology, nothing. Like I said, cheap service. I used to have great pick-up experiences, but they lost their good help for mistreating their employees. Today I waited 45 minutes to even be acknowledged and watched the pick-up girl bringing orders to people she saw arrive after me just to be awful. Have been going to this Walmart for years as I live in downtown Portsmouth. Though I despise Bezos and the games played on Amazon, I beseech you to order everything you can - including food items - from Amazon instead of giving this Walmart your business. Over the past year this Walmart has REFUSED to have more than one or two checkout lanes open at any time. They see the long lines, they hear the complaints, but they are PURPOSELY ignoring those complaints so that you cave in and do self-checkout. The self-checkout area has expanded 500% in the past year or two. I, like many others, are not stupid and refuse to cave in to the extortion. I have absolutely had it and instead signed back up with Amazon Prime. If I can go without the item for 48 hours, Amazon will deliver it to my door, even food from their new Pantry department. Unlike Amazon, Walmart charges FULL RETAIL PRICE for nearly everything these days and the savings from the self-checkout scam (fewer employees needed once all the lemmings use it) only increases Walmart's profits. Went in to Walmart tonight looking for a PlayStation 5. An employee showed me that they had 6 on hand but said they weren't allowed to sell them. I spoke to the manager on duty and he was very rude and told me they wouldn't sell them. Did not give me any reason just straight out refused to sell. It is very wrong of them to tell me they have a product in stock especially one in such high demand and refuse to sell them to customers. I will never shop at this store ever again. read more

It's Walmart folks, if you're expecting luxury then head to Ethan Allen. However, for being a Walmart, this one is pretty good so far. Each time I've visited, the place is relatively quiet and calm. It doesn't feel like the typical craziness in most Walmarts during a Black Friday. The store is clean and the food prices are great. I felt compelled to write a review for this Walmart. I travel often and it's annoying to go on Yelp and find every Walmart in the world has less than 3 stars. We get it people, it's no Saks on Fifth but that's just it - it's a discount store. You knew this going in and for whatever reason are shocked they do not have employees at every register and on every aisle awaiting your beckoned call. Unless there are unusual safety concerns or customer service issues leave the pomp and circumstance reviews elsewhere and let Walmart be Walmart. So here's to a fair review of Walmart for those of us who need inexpensive products while traveling on the road. This Walmart is clean, convenient, and well lit - from the parking lot to the store. Everything was well organized and easy to find. While every cash register was not manned there were several self check-out stations available. It was a quick and easy experience I was in and out in no time. I hope this helps! read more

I have been to many several area Walmarts, and this one is the worst one of all. The store is understaffed and under stocked. I usually get cat supplies and they are often out of the brand of food and litter that I use. The staff, if you can find someone (there never seems to be anyone at the fabric or jewelry counters), tends to be on the rude side... I feel as though I am really bothering someone if I ask a question. There are seldom more than one or two registers open (unless you go to self serve). I have been to this Walmart many times when there is not one shopping cart inside the store... they are all out in the parking lot. If you have to shop at Walmart, it's worth the trip to Seabrook, Somersworth or Epping from the Portsmouth area where the stores are properly managed. read more

This store isn't the worst of the Walmarts, but still not somewhere I've ever enjoyed stopping at. Stopped in about an hour before they closed once, only to find the self checkouts and all lanes except one were shut down, so all 30 or so of us trying to purchase our items had to wait for quite awhile. The girl at the register was honestly doing the best she could (it was her first day!) and apologized numerous times - but it was not her fault. I don't know if they wanted to all leave early, or thought this would get them home faster, but it was a horrible plan and caused a major delay, plus a lot of unnecessary stress on the girl they stuck there while they all chit chatted and stood around. read more

This review is to compare to other Wal-Mart stores. The people (not all of them of course) that work here have been nothing but rude in my experiences. I go here because I live close and it's Wal-Mart but I stayed away for a while because of the bad attitudes of some of the employees. The site-to-store area where you pick up orders from online is the worst. Last time I was there the girl proceeded to complain loudly to a co-worker how she couldn't believe she was still at work and to complain about her boss. She pointed at me and said "see?" like it was my fault for coming in at the end of her shift and making her stay for five more minutes. It just made me feel bad and like I was bothering her. No customer wants to feel like that. This is why small businesses have such loyal customers. You never get treated like that. Not all Wal-Mart employees act in this way which makes me wonder where is the manager and why are their employees so disgruntled? read more

Customer service in the Vision Department was outstanding at my two visits there. I had an eye exam at the Somersworth location and bought my frames and lenses at an independent optical shop, because Walmart did not have what I required. Whenever I have gone to Somersworth to have my glasses adjusted they are unable to make an improvement that lasts more than a few days and often then scowl about how my frame was not purchased at Walmart. walmart is walmart, but my last trip in there really made me angry. my boyfriend and i went in to buy a pair of cheap mountain bikes and spent about 45 mins or so comparing and looking. literally 4 employees walked by us and didn't say a word- not hello, didn't ask if we needed help, nothing. we were obviously sitting on/ riding the bikes down the single aisle (very short distance) to see what felt best. - i wasn't going to spend a few hundred dollars without making sure the bikes were the right size, etc. finally, some random guy with no employee tag (don't even know who he was) came over and told us to stop riding the bikes "on the freshly waxed floor". excuse me? we aren't a couple of punk teenagers hanging out riding bikes around the store because we have nothing to do, and thats how we were treated. after he went away, the "assistant manager" came over to us and asked if we needed anything. we said yes we would like to take these bikes, and asked if we just took the floor model or if a new one was assembled. he just kind of looked at us and was like "these are what we have, the assembler makes these and yeah" okay... so it said "free assembly" everywhere, which is why we asked because it was unclear, and this guy talked to us like we were a bunch of idiots asking something completely out of line. we also asked if the assembler would be able to take off the front wheels (to fit the bikes in the car easier) and he said he had gone home for the day, gave us another weird look, and asked why we would want to do that. overall extremely frustrating experience being treated like pesky children when we are paying adult customers. im considering returning the bikes and going elsewhere because of how poorly we were treated. read more

Wal-mart bakery is freaking great! Don't roll your eyes or scowl. I discovered Wal-mart's bread one night because I needed a loaf and everything else in Portmouth seems to close when the sun goes down (which is 4:15pm in the winter). To my surprise, my WM has a bakery that cranks out incredibly fresh, well crafted loaves of crusty french bread and italian bread as well as sandwich buns, dinner rolls, etc. The italian even comes in varying spices - sun dried tomato, garlic, cheese and more. On its own, the bread is so worthwhile; however, the topper is the Wal-mart price that we have all come to love - $1. That's right - a buck. I'm not kidding. My only suggestion, check the suggested "sell by" date to get the freshest loaf. It may be the only bread you can find at 10:30pm in Portsmouth but it might also be the best bread in town at any time. I'm curious if others have had this experience. read more

Sorry, but I don't agree. On an average day, I can purchase a loaf of Italian Bread (16oz?) for $1.60 from Walmart here in Albany, NY, which I have done twice. The product looks really great at first, which threw off this Brooklyn_Italian guy.The product, in a paper/plastic shell(bag) really held up well over 2-3 days at my home in regular room-light, 70-75 degrees temperature. I would squeeze the bread after each day, and I would be amazed that the bread had a very fresh feel to it when squeezed. However, after once sinking my teeth into this bread, I was very disappointed. The bread was filled with air and was overly light and frail in texture. The bread fell apart as I was trying to prepare a section of it with dressing for a meat sandwich, for example. I repeated this process a second time over the course of 6 months, and I was again very disappointed with Walmart's baking process as concerns Italian breads. I will stick with Price chopper or Hanna ford's supermarkets for my Italian bread from now on. read more
