Richdale's fills a role that no other store in the immediate downtown area fills. The role of a convenience store. The only other convenience store that could be considered downtown, and it is fringe out in the tannery, is the Black Duck. One of my favorite stores of all time, and I do wish they could just switch places, because I live closer to Richdale. But alas. I don't know who the other two reviewers are and I am not denying the entirety of their reviews, but they are being incredibly harsh and in my opinion somewhat immature in their reviews. For example. The portly man standing on the sidewalk has done nothing mean or rude to me or my wife what-so-ever. It is a bit odd that he is there literally ALL THE TIME and I can see how a woman might be creeped out. But, you know what? He's outside of the store, on the sidewalk, and the last time I checked, stores don't own the sidewalks. Loitering is a matter that needs to be dealt with by the town or the police if people are concerned, not the store the person is standing in front of. So that's a review failure right there. As far as the service is concerned, I have had mixed experiences although most of them good! The only person here who has been absolutely atrocious is the old woman with the short gray hair at the Dunks counter. That woman must have some sort of serious anxiety or mental problem because she is such a bitch to me sometimes, and it seems totally random!! Like really bitchy. So avoid her. Otherwise, the young men and women working the registers are generally very friendly and the day I lost my wallet I had stopped into Richdales to buy a drink and thought maybe I'd dropped it or left it on the counter. They we're so nice and helpful! It turns out I didn't leave it there, but the girls behind the front counter we're super and made sure no one had seen or picked it up before sending me off. Also, I don't think eating a .25 hotdog is great for your colon, but where else can you get hotdogs that cheap?? They also carry just about everything you could need if you're in a pinch. I'd rather have The Black Duck here, but I'd rather have Richdales than some boring chain store or god forbid another overpriced old ladies clothing shop. read more
