Review for Walmart Supercenter #3876 (3285 Henry St, Muskegon, MI) ​ ​Subject: Extreme ADA Over-Allocation and Operational Dysfunction after Remodel ​I am writing this to express my extreme disappointment with the recent "Store of the Future" infrastructure changes at the Henry Street location. While I understand the importance of ADA compliance, the new parking lot configuration has crossed the line from accessibility to total operational dysfunction. ​Since the remodel, the first five rows near the entrances have been converted entirely into over 50 disabled parking spots. This has created an "ADA Wall" where the "average" shopper--even those with minor mobility issues--is now forced to walk across nearly the entire lot before they even reach the door. I am a disabled individual myself, but I choose to use standard parking spaces to ensure there is a fair opportunity for everyone. However, Walmart has now institutionalized a system where the largest customer segment is "treated less than" and pushed to the furthest periphery of the property. ​On my recent visits, I have observed that a massive portion of these 50+ reserved spots remains vacant even during peak shopping hours, while elderly patrons and those with limited mobility (but no placard) are forced to navigate dangerous distances in Michigan winter conditions. This is especially cruel considering the new, harder concrete floors inside the store, which make the physical toll of shopping here even worse for those forced into the longest walk from their cars. ​I have been a loyal shopper here for years, but this layout is a "loyalty killer." If Walmart truly wants to be the "heartbeat of the community," it needs to reconsider this extreme allocation of space and find a more equitable dispersal that doesn't alienate the very customers who walk through your doors. Auto center clowns. Asked for High-milage Synthetic, Wally world ass-ociate Owen Shuffleupagus sells me a synthetic BLEND, not comprehending the difference. I asked that to make sure the tech fills tires to manufacturers specs for travel the following morning, given the travel advisories. Shufflepagus mumbles 'that's part of the package" and shuffled off in the opposite direction. Discover the tires were not inflated. Went straight to Wally, adding over two hours to my day. "If the tech didn't do that, what else did he not do? The lead Tech: A: He neglected to do the Differential. He never told me the battery will need to be replaced soon. He never told me nor have they told anyone else that Wally refuses to inflate tires past 40PSI. ALL of you truck, SUV, Van owners and operators are denied this listed service routinely, without notice on the web site or on site. The first thing you notice when you pull into the parking lot here is that the shopping carts are EVERYWHERE. Not in the cart corral. They are scattered about, even in adjacent parking lots including across the street at Meijer! Also, the nearby neighborhood of Muskegon Hts has shopping carts abandoned. I don't know if this is because of customer ignorance, laziness or spite. I entered the store, the produce dept was unkempt. There was no one at the deli counter and they were sold out of fresh baked bread at 2pm. I walked out. read more

If you order something on-line and ask for "pick up at store" this is not the store to pick it up at. More than once my purchase was supposed to be here, but when I tracked it, it was revealed that whomever was to receive it at the receiving dock was out to lunch, at 10 am. I now have my orders shipped to other locations. read more

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Customer service employees are one of the worse I have ever dealt with. Lines are always long. The managers handled my business so unprofessional and rudely everyone in the line was tuning in. I was so embarrassed. The employee at customer service was so rude she was servicing other people when we weren't even helped yet. I was trying to cash a check and she insisted that i was not who I said I was even though I had proof. Not to mention I cashed checks there before many times with no problem. Then the manager continuously mocked me. I'm very disgusted with their customer service and how I was treated. And you better make sure you get everything bagged by cashiers because you'll be asked for a receipt. read more

Automotive Service Center says week day hours 7am-7pm. Made an appointment to get my car worked on @7:30am the next day. Arrived at 7:25am to find the doors still locked. So I called the store and the only person I got a hold of was someone in electronics. He told me just a min he'd try and help me. 10 mins later I was still locked out. Had to drive to the front of the store to get someone to let me in. When I got back to the back of the store they were just opening the doors. However nobody was clocked in yet and they were just setting up the computer, 40mins after their advertised opening time!... WHAT??? Their response was something along the lines of: They (the workers) aren't scheduled in until 8am and when they do get in they have to do whatever a manager tells them to do so often times it takes them a bit to get set up and going. I understand running behind, but 40mins late and your doors are still locked, really? If the department isn't going to be ready to go and customs are going to be locked out, the store needs to change that department's hours! I'd of gladly come in at a later time if their hours said 8am-7pm, or if at the very least they didn't allow me to make a 7:30am appointment. On a final note. when I asked to speak to the manager in charge of the store at that time, my request was dodged and I was told I could just go back to the automotive service center because the doors were being unlocked. From what I could gather I feel like the Automotive Service Center crew members really have their hands tied, and were doing what they could to help and set things right. But as a store I'd give this Walmart 0/5 stars if possible. read more

Seems about average for a Wal-Mart. Definitely understaffed, but having spoken to management I've been given to understand that the amount of staff they can have is dictated by Wal-Mart corporate. Be aware that customer service closes at 10pm so you will have to wait in line if you need to do a return and then wait for a manager to approve the return. Also I was told after 10pm, items over $25 without a receipt cannot be accepted. Store has usually been pretty clean, although I have noticed that the bathroom in the front frequently smells like urine. Also some of the areas are rather messy and some items are in locations without prices(particularly bagged candy in the check out lanes) and some items are out of stock as well. Not bad as stores go, but I doubt Sam Walton would be happy with it. read more

I hate this Walmart ever since it was built. I must be in the minority in thinking that the one on Sherman Blvd is better but it is. One common theme in the other reviews is that this place is depressing. Indeed it is. It goes back to how they designed to the store to be cheap to build and environmentally friendly. I think they must of hired an architect that got his inspiration from the old Khrushchyovka worker dormitories in the old Soviet Union. During the day this place is almost entirely lit by the skylights. The result is the interior is under illuminated and a dull grey. It is like being outdoors on a very cloudy day. Colors are muted and this Walmart looks perpetually dreary. To make things worse, to make the building cheaper to build and to satisfy lawyers looking to prevent slip and fall accidents the flooring is plain brown polished concrete which makes this underlit store even worse. The very appearance of this store radiates a sense of bleakness and sadness. Despite the building being huge the selection inside the store is sparse and too spaced out. The aisles are too wide The pet food is in a corner on the opposite side of the building as the groceries. The aisles are too wide. They could have easily reduced the square footage of this building by quarter and that would have improved the shopping experience. Then there are the lines. The old trope of about Walmart having 20 check out lanes, but only 1 full service lane and 1 express lane open is largely true. To make matters worse, they have self checkout lanes but won't operate them. Often the self service check outs are all closed. If they are open, some will only accept cash and others will only accept credit. Walmart still hasn't figured out the concept of self checkout. read more

this one is better than Sherman st. the prices are lower and they have more items marked down, cleaner and nicer looking. could stand to have more cashiers but no one wants to work nowadays not their fault. read more
