I'll start off by saying I really can't believe that I am rating a Walmart in general 4 stars ... and then especially this one after having read all the reviews, but I give credit where credit is due and they deserve the 4 star rating. First off the store is NEAT! I'm talking like every department ... like grand opening neat! This is virtually impossible mid afternoon in any high volume retail store but this Walmart got it done! Pricing was displayed and accurate, there were ample shopping carts, security was helpful in providing directions around the store, there were ample employees assisting guests in the deli and hot foods sections. there were multiple checkout lines open and the cashier was friendly. The bathroom upon walking in was clean and the only reason the review isn't 5 stars is because the stalls weren't clean, but hey, I guess you can't be perfect. The adventures of Wally World! This review is to mostly highlight how increasingly worse the check-out experience has become (no matter how much patience you practice). Prior to holiday season, it was easy to go in and out without any fuss, especially using the self-checkout option. Now, apparently that option has been rescinded, unless you use the app or something along those lines. I am all for people keeping their jobs, hence going to a cashier. However, there is no organization or even "express" lanes being provided and enforced. This Walmart needs to do better! ASAP. read more

I was having issues with placing an online order (still have issues). I went to Customer Service in Kearny and spoke to Diana. I explained I wanted to purchase a tv but needed picked up in a different state because it was a gift. She said, you need to do that online. I explained online was giving me errors, could I buy at the store and have them pick it up at another store. She said, no. You need to buy online. Once again I showed her that online showed errors. Her answer was "too bad". Really, that's it. Too bad, mot let me help you. I ordered something online @ Walmart.com close to Christmas and it was to be delivered soon. I was very pleased as I waited a little last minute. it didn't come. I received a refund fairly quickly. I was pleased to find the items with a different retailer. which I paid slightly more for. then notice I have been charged back by Walmart. I put a pause on my card. they have continued to charge my card every day. I called today to find out that in their system it shows it was received so until they can charge me again, they cannot refund me. So they are holding my card hostage until they can charge me for something I never received. Does that make sense? I'm done with Walmart. For unsuspecting users of Walmart's online services. If you order an item for a specific delivery date and then suddenly get a notice, OUT OF STOCK, just cancel it because Walmart will make a unilateral decision to change the date for your order and then without you knowing it, authorize to TIP a driver who gets paid by this company additional money for delivery. The website makes it difficult to cancel the order once it has been placed leaving the customer to figure out how to reach anyone to cancel the order immediately. This is a tactic used and allowed by companies in this country which gets worse by the minute each day. I will no longer order from this company online, as I find it hard to believe a company this size could not realize its stock at the time of the order. I recently visited the Walmart Supercenter in Kearny, NJ, and I have to say, calling it a "supercenter" seems like an overstatement. It's much smaller compared to other supercenters I've been to in New Jersey, and they constantly move things around, making it hard to navigate. I pay extra for Walmart Plus specifically for the convenience, but I was left frustrated when I tried to use the "Scan & Go" feature for the first time. The whole idea of "Scan & Go" is supposed to be that you can skip the lines, but that's not what happened. When I finished scanning my items on the app, I was still forced to go to a self-checkout kiosk and scan everything all over again. This completely defeats the purpose of the feature. If Walmart is going to adopt "Scan & Go" from other retailers, they need to follow through on the convenience it's supposed to offer. Worse still, at this particular location, they've removed many of the self-checkout stations. So instead of the quick, streamlined experience I was expecting, I had to stand in line, wait, and deal with a process that was no better than traditional checkout. When I asked a Walmart associate about this, he responded with an attitude, almost condescendingly telling me that, yes, I had to wait in line like everyone else. This completely negates the point of paying for Walmart Plus and using "Scan & Go." To make matters worse, I was trying to purchase deodorant, which, like so many other basic products, was locked up. When I finally found an associate to unlock it, I was told that I had to pay for it immediately at that moment. The "Scan & Go" app was already open on my phone, and now I had to exit that section of the app, pay for the deodorant separately, and end up with multiple receipts. Meanwhile, I noticed other customers walking around with unpaid deodorant in their carts. It felt demeaning and unnecessarily complicated. I understand the need for security measures, but these are becoming overly drastic. The whole shopping experience was more frustrating and difficult than it needed to be. If this is the direction Walmart is going, they're going to lose customers who are looking for ease and efficiency, not extra steps and complications. read more

This Walmart is the worst Walmart I've ever been to. The parking lot is trash ridden there's people in lawn chairs (like their at a football tailgate party. The parking lot smells like garbage. Around Jersey city there are 3 Walmart store. Now this Walmart is really close to Jersey city. Other two are mainly ok as per items or options in particular item. Chances are you don't find particular item or options in that store. Here generally they are good in keeping stocks , checkout , service and helping customer questions. I am not sure why this location has such low ratings, but it was fairly nice. It was much newer than some of the other locations of visited in other parts of the state, and baskets were readily available in the parking lot. It was nice to have wipes at the front door to disinfect your cart and the shelves were fully stocked. We were able to get all of the things we needed and used the self check-out to complete our purchases easily. I'm sure we will visit if we are in the area again. read more

Went to Walmart for a sound bar and a 4k hdmi cord for my 82inch TV I just brought and when I walked in Walmart it was crowded as all get out..lol I knew what I was looking for so I knew I'd be in and out..As I get to the home theater section there were employees sanitizing the area,shelves, counters, the whole section I'd say..they had employees helping customers and even tho they were cleaning they didn't miss a beat..an employee helped me wit getting the things I needed and took them to the counter where a nice lady rung me up and she was very nice, as I was leaving I couldn't decide on what sound bar I wanted so b4 I left I went back to get the one I chose and they had no problem helping me once again and a manager took my order cause the other employees were assisting other customers...this place is always packed but they are very good with customers service and they get you in and out and that's why this is one of my favorite Walmarts to come come.. read more

If you are unlucky enough like I have with them many times, they won't pack your order in time and therefore products become unavailable and they substitute the products with a more expensive replacement. They will reschedule your order when they think it's best or they just don't show up. They have drivers showing up and the orders are not ready; and if you're lucky and you actually get your order, if you told them to use bags, they don't. I'm only giving it a 1 star bc you can't rate zero. So the last week of May I did some shopping at Walmart. It was my few days before my birthday and few days before I lost the best Uncle who raised me as his daughter by a hit and run murderer so I wasn't in the best happy place. As I proceeded to use scan and go to pay for my almost $300 of my hard own money to pay the system automatically went down. I was told by an employee that they were shutting me down for STEALING. I requested a manager a very, rude and unprofessional shift front desk manager approached and talked extremely rude and condescending. They took my cart while whole time I'm being embarrassed and take my cart to a isolated lane where they rescanned all my well organized groceries I had bc I need to have a process since I'm currently doing chemo. By the way I did not touch the cart to move it to the new location. They are ringing up the total I'm calling corporate. it was a hurtful experience at the wrong time in my life. Months later a Roy and Matt reached out but I have returned their calls several times. They have not called back since the initial call back. Recently I placed an order online and did a store pick up. When I got the item (a duffle bag), I immediately saw that it was not the bag that I ordered. Just the color alone was completely different. So something that should have taken me 5 minutes to do, became 40 minutes as I had to wait in the customer service line to return the item. Before going to customer service, I went to their luggage area and saw that they didn't have the duffle bag that I purchased on their shelf. I quickly picked up something similar and went to customer service. They returned the item and rang me up for the new bag. All in all, not a great experience.
