Bought all new tires and had an appt to have them installed. Got a phone call 20 min before to say they have to reschedule. The next appt was days away which was very inconvenient. Got there and there was only 1 tech and I was there almost 3 hours just for tire installation! They closed at 7 and I didn't get my car until 830! The tech did apologize for the wait but it was understandable since he was the only one but why double book like that?! I ended up calling the next afternoon because the car shakes when I'm driving over 50. I was told to just bring it back but when I got there they said they couldnt see me because they were double booked again! I was told to come back another day to have the tires rebalanced. To me that's a safety issue they need to fix! read more

Some of the employees just stand around and when you ask them for help they get attitude. But I have noticed that the shelves are mainly bare. The older employees are wonderful. They will take the time to make sure that you find what you are looking for. read more

what is the world is wrong with Walmart. I'm at the Hammond location. 1100 5th Av. There are tons of workers standing around on phones. Security was even on phones. Are they being paid $2 an hour. They sure are not working. I don't go to Walmart a lot anymore. I'll rather go to a store and pay a title more than be in this environment. I can't wait for the boycott. This location has made ZERO improvements since my last review. As of today 2-14-23 this location had 6 plus Executives walking the store hopefully they make the changes this location needs. The store is absolutely dirty , most employees avoid being asked questions , some employees smell like marijuana. A lot of Shopping carts are always filled with garbage and wheels are broken. This location is better than most. You'll find the parking lot reasonably clean and the cart situation not too bad, some lose ones about. The store itself, at least the times I've gone reasonably organized and relatively clean. The main reason I go to this Walmart is for their garden center, the plants have been consistently good and well priced. Cleaning supplies seem to be a better value too. I like that I can purchase spray paint easily here, for all my tagging needs. (joke) I needed some for some patio furniture that I want to get another year out of. Never had any issues with the cashiers here, today my cashier was friendly and we conversed for a bit since no one was waiting behind me. Sometimes, being nice at the start of an interaction helps. One of my first jobs was as a cashier at one of those mega stores (Turnstyle) I remember how rude some of the customers were, give people the opportunity to respond nicely, they usually do. read more

Well-Stocked Shelves Clean Isles. Friendly employees. It's when they start moving things around and now it's hard to find something The Ladie's Restroom may have toilet paper all over the floors in the stalls. Wet toilet seats and floors. Lots and lots of Self-Check-Out Lanes, but only a few open. Some Senior Citizens don't know how to use them. Attendance Personal have to help. Too many people are out of work. If I could give 0 stars I would ..Walmart is out here scamming y'all.. so they lost my order so they gave me a coupon code right..okay.. so I go in the app to use the code ,I finished the cart and check out and something told me to go back and check my order and when i looked I noticed something fishy.. yall these sneaky mfs marked up the prices for the items in my cart so that the coupon code could compensate for the mark up ‍ Oh and let's not forget that I've been waiting in the Walmart pickup parking lot for over 2 hours since 4:45. Do not get your tires replaced here. Automotive service replaced my tires and the wheels started shaking when I drove on the expressway way. Took it back the next morning, which is today and have been waiting now almost 3hrs. Still waiting while typing this review. Spoke to Manager Reggie whose comment was "I should have brought it back yesterday". I asked for his name and he refused to give his last name and was no help. Bad repair job and VERY poor customer service from the automotive manager. Update: So after receiving the car back (after waiting 4.5 hrs), Manager Reggie assured my husband they balanced the tires and all of their work was done correctly and that we needed to get the suspension checked. When I drove the car to work (late due to this inconvenience), the tires were still shaking. The next morning I left work and took the car to Midas to have the suspension and breaks checked. The technician first called over the manager, and then told me that the suspension and breaks were good and the only problem he saw was the bogus balance job done on the tires. They told me to take the car back to whoever put the tires on because on 3 tires they did not remove the old weights but also added new weights, and the fourth tire only had an old weight. This goes beyond incompetence but is complete negligence not only on the technician Jovan but the manager Reggie as well for failure to check the work that was done and to return the vehicle to us a second time with incomplete work that was not only paid for but also dangerous for me and family to drive in. Thank God no one was hurt during this. What should have been a simple tire replacement with balancing of tires took an additional 2 trips to the store, 8 hours, and a meeting with a store Coach Kevin, Assistant Store Manager Phil, and Store Manager Jack to correct. Also, a trip to Midas for a second opinion (additional 2.5 hrs). I want to say thank you to the technicians Anthony and Jose who helped me and fixed the tires correctly. read more

It's Walmart. I come here when I know exactly what I need and am willing to take my time. The lines are always long and they are always short of helpful staff. If you need help in an area like paint, fuggetaboudid! It's a ghost town and the likelihood you find someone who knows anything is zero, unfortunately. So come in with a friend who can chat you up or put on your headphones and listen to the latest album of your choice. It is what it is. They have great prices, they're pretty clean and definitely crowded every time I've been here. Best prices for cat food & litter and the cheaper tax is why I keep coming. read more

I was at the this Walmart location yesterday trying to purchase a bag of charcoal with cAsh when I went to both self-checkouts I was informed that I can only use a card I was told if I wanted to use cash with one bag of charcoal I had to wait in one of the long lines where people had at least 30 items or more which would have been very time consuming. When I asked a manager why I couldn't pay for one item with cash at self checkout, I was rudely told i should have been watching the news because the store was not accepting cash payments except at a few of the exceptionally long lines due to the store being low on cash. This was very rude and disrespectful to me as a disabled veteran and after being thoroughly frustrated at this point I went ahead and used a card read more

I had to update because I was stuck visiting this Walmart again the other day for a late night "hey Mom I forgot I need this for camp - tomorrow" trip. Walking around with my son looking for the few things I needed to grab for him I was "cut off" by 3 ON DUTY IN UNIFORM Walmart employees. One of them actually huffed at me as if I shouldn't have been in his way. I'd rather pay too much for my toilet paper than shop here. The pick up option is terrible. They do not even look for your stuff. They just list it as unavailable if they don't know what it is rather then look for it. How do I know? I put in a request and watched the associate look for my stuff. Yes I know it was mine as I asked for a certain amount of obscure items. They found some. By luck. But I also went in after my order and found all the things they said were not there. Plain as day. This is why walmart will never beat amazon fresh or whole foods. read more

So sad to see the condition of this Wal Mart. Honestly, it should've stayed where it was. It was never this poorly tended. My wife and I moved away from Hammond only to come back and see the new to us Wal Mart looking like a disaster zone run by a group of people who stopped caring a long time ago. Stuff...was...everywhere and nowhere in particular. Things were laid every where looking like vandals had gone through the store ransacking everything. You couldn't really know if something was out of stock because you just might find that t shirt you were looking for strewn out on top of a bag of dog food. Come to this location all the time but first time going to the auto care for a oil change. Told it was two people ahead of me and the wait would be an hour. Well after sitting for two hours my car wasn't even takin in the back for service and was told by the manager some people wait longer. Horrible will never waste my time going here again. read more

Very dirty store and extremely rude staff. Shelves completely empty. Very rude staff said limit of one package of ground beef but no signs posted stating that. I come here with my client or sometimes on my own to shop for food but it's an OK location nothing to really write home about except it's convenient to the people who live nearby on State Line Road on the IL side and also in Hammond across the way and Whiting just a few minutes down the street. It's one of the few Wal Mart locations that actually has customers that act like customers not a bunch of classless heathens with NO home training. You can still get the most of your shopping since the taxes arent as high if you are shopping in Chicago. As a result of the taxes being what they are in Chicago a lot of Chicagoans are actually coming to Hammond to this location and their second location near the interstate also in Hammond near a Cabela's sporting goods store. They do need to improve on customer service other than that it's ok. read more

My girlfriend is confined to a wheel chair and has to have help using the restroom. Not once but twice I had to deal with employees taking thier brake in the handicap-family restroom. Both encounters ended in the employees being extremely hostile when asked why they did not use the regular restroom. After speaking with managers on both situations the problem went in the favor of the employee. The second encounter works in the deli and seems to be racist against handicapped people saying " it ain't my fault ur in a wheel chair," . "And the manager still took his side and said it was the same as customers using the automatic buggy. This wAlmart sucks.. let corporate know what peices their employees are. read more

LORD, do i hate walmarts. my first encounter with this particular horrid store is when i went to pick up photo prints, and got a first hand account of the aftermath of an employee fighting a thief who escaped in the getaway car. but she did get her purse. and they didnt have my prints. i just went there last night because i needed a headband to keep my hair out of my face. i hate walmart. i hate mcdonalds. i do not eat mcdonalds. i only go to mcdonalds to pick up others food. and i thought, why am i shopping at walmart for me, but i wont shop at mcdonalds for me. i went in anyway. blocking the entrance was an employee smoking. lovely welcome. as i walked in, he and his friend who had to be 7 years my junior eyed me. eww, they also may have been high but i have no proof. i walk to the lady at the dressing room counter and ask her where are the headbands, she is on her phone. now i must be jealous. because if i smoked, my job would not allow me to smoke in the entrance of their establishment where customers are aplenty and have my phone out on company time. im especially jealous about the phone part. as i searched, those 2 boys eyed me again. usually that wouldnt bother me, but this being walmart... i found their measly selection of headbands and came to my senses. i would much rather have a sloppy, messy ponytail then give this horrible corporation my money. so i walked out this walmart is not the worse. that may go to the one in chicago on doty avenue. although i didnt get into an argument with an employee at this one like i did at the walmart in crestwood. the ONLY thing walmart as a whole has going for it is its hours and their cheap prints. anything else, i will gladly pay a higher price to not have a heavy heart. read more

Tire Department: Horrible service! Went in for a leaking tire, left with a leaking tire! Guy says he sprayed water on the tire and didn't find any bubbles so that means its good. Explained several times that it has been going completely flat for weeks he gave me a blank stare. Frustrated and tired of arguing i just left figuring this guy probably has no clue how to fix a tire anyway so i'm probably better off. Next day, guess what, flat tire? Later i realized what the problem was. I brought the car in at 5:30pm. They close at 6:00pm. Probably had somewhere better to be. read more
