This is just a review for the pharmacy and the so called "empathetic pharmacist". A pharmacist here told me that my PTSD was not real. She also raised her voice about my medication to the point where other people on the chairs in line were staring at me. That's a HIPPA violation by the way and has been reported as such. Also, the woman made a joke of "you don't look like a soldier" when I brought up my PTSD. I have been in contact with Walmart corporate and they are appalled by the situation and sending people to this Walmart to evaluate the situation and/or fire them. I have never been so humiliated in my life and I'm glad corporate is taking it as seriously as they are. I highly recommend going to any other pharmacy in galena. Also, the pharmacist trying to tell me my doctor (who is triple board certified by the way) was wrong and she "knew better" about my medications is highly illegal and I find it very suspicious that Walmart hired pharmacists who so clearly do not follow the law. Pharmacists can lose their license for HIPPA violations like this but it's entirely on them. Shouldn't have gone into the field if you don't follow the law. read more

What can you say about a Walmart's? When you are out of town in a new area and you need something - find a Walmart. While they are often set up a little differently, you know whatever you want is probably carried at the Walmart ... and so it was with us. We were out in Galena, Illinois and needed something on the way back to our hotel - I think it was just eyeglass contact cleaner - and of course, when we found a Walmart we knew we found what we wanted. This one was a bit smaller for a SuperCenter but was clean and spacious ... and they had what we needed. Kudos to Walmart. read more

I don't shop Walmart too often, but when you're traveling, you have to make do. We got most of what we needed here for decent prices, but I noticed a couple of disappointing things. First, the deli was closed at about 4:40 on a Wednesday. Second, many shelves were strikingly bare, with giant holes where product should be. I've been to a lot of Walmarts, probably thousands, in my lifetime. I am writing to tell you how impressed I was with your garden center. We arrived late at night to pick up a few items while on vacation and I decided to go into your garden area. I expected that it would be closed and inaccessible. I wandered around in there for about 10 minutes and was in awe of how much care was taken of these plants. It was, by far, the most well taken care of garden center I have ever seen. Plants were manicured and well watered, and arranged so beautifully. Even the ones outside on display were obviously tended to. I wanted to put a good word in for whoever is taking care of the plant center, as they are very obviously doing a much better job than any other Walmart I have ever seen. read more

We were here on Thanksgiving and it was open and the staff was friendly and helpful and the entire store was completely stocked and this was prior to Black Friday. This store was very clean and stocked and extremely organized it wasn't too busy which made it easier to navigate throughout the store it's large and I was able to find everything I needed from so face masks to Lucky charms, cheese and crackers. One nice thing about this Walmart does he have a Crafts department which is great when looking for fun hobbies to do slow holiday. The produce and vegetables were very fresh, everything was well organized and clean and I would highly recommend this Walmart for anyone traveling from out of town or in the area. read more

I made this comparison once in Chicago, so I thought I'd repeat it here. The Walmart in Chicago was a neighborhood express one, while the Galena one is a Super Center. I compared prices at Walmart for the same/similar/least expensive option after shopping for these items at Aldi in Platteville, WI. Aldi is about a 20 minute drive north. I had a very unpleasant experience. I have a number of medical problems, and it requires me to sit, so I used a motorized cart to get around the store. I had an item in my basket when I was putting the cart back, and an employee thought I was stealing, so I grabbed the item, stood up out of the cart to give the item to the employee. After I gave the item to the employee and left the store, I had a couple friends with me, and after I left, the employee was smack talking about me saying if I don't need it, I can't use it. Without considering asking me why I need it, because the employee doesn't know anything about why I may need it at my age. Walmart, your employees are not very well-equipped for handling customer service. Could you go for judge-free characteristics? That'd be appreciated. Thanks, not thanks. read more

Just a note to say I am always happy to shop at this store but I do have one small problem with an item that never seems to be stocked well. I have pointed out to several store employees that the Tropicana orange juice is continuously out of stock. Especially the 50 calorie. I was in twice in the last few days and both times,(days apart), zero stock. Someone needs to have a conversation with their Tropicana rep. Thanks for all you do. read more

We've been shopping Walmart ever since it opened and have ALWAYS found the staff to be friendly, and 99.9% of the products we need--were available. One negative is that products with the "out-date" needs to be looked at more carefully and removed from their shelves. Buying out dated products has happened more then once. Other then that, the products and staff are great!!! read more

Not a lot of options here in Galena. So we go here when we need to. Dubuque or Platteville is a bigger store but a drive. Store is clean and well maintained. Staff is pretty helpful most of the time. I am sure we will be back but also enjoy shopping local. read more

The only reason this store does not get 4 or 5 stars is that I consistently am ignored by the greeters. Clearly they are racist as they will ignore me and greet the next person either before me or after. However the rest of staff in the floor are helpful if I ask for assistance and the cashiers are very nice. The additional plus is that this store is clean, has excellent produce, and well stocked. read more

While I've never been a "Walmart shopper" and would usually avoid Walmarts in general, this one's not that bad. Good reasonably priced selections across the board; clean and non-jammed aisles, and with extremely friendly associates at the checkouts. Just don't ask a worker where anything is. Had inquired for a wall mount make up mirror that 3 different associates could not find but I found myself on my next visit. Was looking for a coffee thermos and the associate directed me to seasonal drink cups. The funniest was realizing that no one in sporting goods, fishes, hunts, plays golf, etc. and can offer no advice. read more

I feel like I can't go on vacation anywhere without forgetting something and needing to go to Walmart. As far as Walmarts go, this one was pretty clean and well stocked. Good place to get all the toiletries you forgot. read more

This used to be a great asset to our area. Now, it's all self check, shelves aren't stocked and no one to assist you on expensive items. They also have deleted a lot of items in the grocery section and replaced them with Wal-Mart generic products. read more
