We like to get the cheese curds and beef stick to snack on. The curds are always fresh and squeaky. They have a number of choices of beef stick to choose from. I often spend time in Galena, IL... this market is 19 miles north in WI. I couldn't be happier that I found Weber Meats! I prepared the best smoked pork chop I've had in decades! They do not accept credit cards, which is too bad... I had enough cash... and, the prices are reasonable! read more

Great service! Great selection! Great prices! Went here as a best man looking for a hog to roast. Ordered it special, size I needed, weight was just right and based on their recommendation. Always a good experience shopping here. Folks are friendly and helpful, products are what you expect when you were raised with a real butcher shop in your neighborhood. We live in west central Illinois so when we go to visit family in the area, we always make a stop at Weber Meats to stock up on bacon, ham salad, cheese curds and other meats. I wish that I could make it there more often but it becomes an excuse to visit family. One time I told the butcher that I wanted 10 lbs of bacon. He was a little surprised and confirmed that I said "10". After I told him how far away we were, he understood. Just walking in I'm transported to my youth of having a neighborhood butcher shop. You smell the meat, you see the meat, you drool for the meat. Their Applewood Smoked Bacon is way better than anything you'll buy in your local grocery store. Well balanced between sweet/smoke/salt. Not as salty as many of the store brands, not as smoky either. More importantly, it's not "fake smoke" that is injected by other processing houses. Another plus is that you can get REAL ham salad. Not that mysterious fluffy pink goo that most grocery deli counters sell. But real ham salad made with Ham and not a compilation of end cuts of some unknown meats. As long as they maintain quality, I will remain a customer. It looks like it will be a life-long relationship. read more

Friends have a farm just outside Galena, Illinois and have been raising Black Angus for almost 100 years with no anti- biotics-grass fed and responsibly raised . Weber meats was a great place to find for the holidays. They offer very high quality meats, sausage, a moderate choice of cheeses, and a variety of pickles and condiments and other items to go with your meat choices. I was impressed by the fresh chicken, because it's look like the chicken you see on cooking shows . Good, clean, white, and very fresh in appearance. I took the opportunity to get a nice portion of beef tenderloin for Christmas dinner. Weber needs is located about a 30 minute drive north of Galena. In the absence of another specialty butcher shop in my own town, I think I will make special trips here rather frequently. read more

My only complaint about this place is that it isn't open on Sundays. I love this place. Quality, tasty meats! I first discovered this place at the Madison Farmer's Market, when I bought their bacon. They no longer come to the Farmer's Market but I still seek out their wonderful product. I've even had them mail me bacon, it's that good. read more

Was out searching for of all things, oxtails for soup and fresh or frozen whole duck. Found both here! Also walked away with: brats; Country bacon (smoked butt in Chicago); breakfast sausage; thick juicy pork chops; tasty ham lunchmeat; and a few other items all for waaay less than in Chicago or even in Berwyn! The meat we got from them has been fabulous! We had absolutely no clue what do ask for when we were called about our 1/2 pig and we have been so very happy! They went step by step and the bacon (maple smoked) has been a spiritual experience! We cannot wait to try the next item from our pig! This is one of the best butcher shops I have seen in many years. I am from the northeastern part of the US and grew up with the the Italian and Polish meat markets. Webers is in that tradition of friendly, helpful and honest butcher shops. It is a pleasure to walk in there and be greeted like a family member. Weber's! Since I was a child...even back when I thought Cuba City was actually IN CUBA, we have made several pilgrimages to Wisconsin each year. Apples, cheese, and WEBER'S. It's like there are 3 food groups. With Weber's being the foundation of an awesome MEAT CHEESE APPLE pyramid! They have been award winning meat processors for a long time. Every trip home to Illinois entails a MANDATORY trip to Weber's. The summer sausage they make today was the very same as when I was a kid. That's what some people forget these days. Whenever we make a trip to galena it is mandatory to make the trip 30 minutes over to webers to stock up on meat! They have a little bit of everything, and it's all amazing!
