We were in town with a race team for the NHRA race. We came to Walmart with a BIG list of groceries to feed our team and hospitality guests. First we had to ask a nice lady in the meat department if she could go in the back to see if she had more hamburger patties - and she did! I wish I'd gotten her name. We FILLED 4 carts to the brim. And I mean to the brim!! We started walking to the checkouts and a VERY nice employee asked if we were ready to check out. If we had been at home and walked up to a checkout with that many items, the employees would have dropped their heads and acted like they didn't see us. Not your employee! I think her name was Kylee (spelling?) She was FANTASTIC! I wish she could be my checker EVERY time I go to Walmart. She should train all your checkers!! If you look up a smiley face, you should see her face and name!!! I've attached the top of the receipt in hopes that you can find her and recognize her. THANK YOU, Kylee!!!!! We'll see you next year when the NHRA comes to town.

Writing this review because this Walmart needs more love. There hasn't been a review for a while, so here you go. I've had a pretty pleasant experience here, although it smells a little in certain spots of the store. Very nice exterior and remodeled interior, everything is pretty much in stock here and they have an amazing physical media selection. A little lacking on the CDs, but that's what I pretty much expected considering the Starke Walmart doesn't have many either. The electronics section is the biggest one I've seen so far considering I've been to all the Gainesville area Walmarts. This Walmart also has a very good food selection and it's pretty neat. Just don't come to this Walmart when people are getting off of work, though. Would recommend that you go to this store for everything you need, didn't see many workers though, but self checkout was nice.

This Walmart's entertainment value is always worth the trip. Besides that, it's just your standard place--but with security guards!

4 stars for another discount business on the less affluent side of Gainesville!…read more November 30, 2017 will be this store's official grand opening & ribbon-cutting ceremony from 9:00 AM till 9:00 PM, complete w/ speakers, giveaways, music, food & drink. Roses Express is very similar to Ollie's next door (literally next door) except that it has much less square feet of floor space, it offers a small refrigerated section w/ food (behind the checkout area) & it sells clothing (including a decent number of "full figure" sizes & offerings). It's a smaller store so the selection of closeouts & liquidation items are, of course, limited. For example, instead of a massive aisle of varied small appliances, you'll get 1/3 to select from. That's pretty much the same for everything here. No abundance of carpeting & flooring (I didn't see any flooring, but it's possible I missed it), no abundance of books, no abundance of furniture & tools, etc. However, like its competitor, this establishment does offer lots & lots of baby, toddler, & children's toys. (It also offers children's clothing in all sizes at very low prices.) It's the offering of clothing (which Ollie's doesn't carry) that separates the men from the boys, so to speak. I bought two women's v-neck long sleeved t-shirts for $3.99 each here when even Walmart would have priced them at $9.99 each-- that's a great savings. Overall, prices at Roses are much LOWER than they are at Ollie's & Big Lots. Parking is easy in the Northside Shopping Center lot that is shared w/ Ollie's & Harbor Freight, along w/ the former (& now vacant) Winn Dixie. This business, that's headquartered in Henderson, North Carolina, is definitely a plus for those on a budget...& those not on a budget but who like to save $.

Although they do carry plenty of other brands, their selection of Jordans and other Nike lifestyle sneakers as well as the same category of goods by adidas, Puma, Diadora, and Converse are big draws for any DTLR store and let's be real, they're also the main money-makers with Jordans retailing for around $190 on many models. So DTLR has long been absent from Gainesville which I found odd considering their multiple stores in the Jacksonville and Orlando markets but that has just been remedied by the opening of this location. They went into the old Gainesville Shopping Center on Main Street, a decision that made me very pleased because this shopping center, which was one of the earliest in town and once very successful, has gone down in the past couple decades. It still has businesses, yes, but all really are what I call local service businesses--fast food restaurants, a Publix, and things like nail or hair salons. These are not really destination businesses, they cater to people in the neighborhood but won't probably draw in visitors from elsewhere. DTLR however will. It has competition in mall stores like Jimmy Jazz and House of Hoops, but it's unique. It probably would get more traffic in the mall or the new Butler Plaza but it accomplishes the very necessary goal of bringing more businesses to East Gainesville. I really commend whomever scouted out and chose this location for their foresight because not many chains would bother. The store itself is fairly large but their inventory is not on par with some of the higher-volume DTLRs. A chain-wide issue I've noted at DTLR is that they, at least in the scope of streetwear, are trying to be all things to all people at all price-points. So, you have some no-name brands of jeans and the like or store brands, and then you have the newest Jordans or Nike Air drops too--and that goes for clothing as well as sneakers. There isn't enough room for everything and instead of crowding it all in there (thankfully) they limit how much diversity of product they carry in any one area. So, in example, they have Diamond Supply but not much of it. Same with many brands. I hope they'll soon learn what sells at this specific store and streamline the inventory, but for now that's the main drawback: customers familiar with DTLR will find a more limited selection than at some stores. Still the presence of a DTLR in town and the fact they went into an under-served part of Gainesville is very exciting to me.
