They also usually have some type of hot food available, whether it's a restaurant that's part of it or a hot sandwich cold sandwich area. They have a consistent product. There's plenty of trucker services from showers to qas and parking that were adequate for the truckers and for cars. The store was surprisingly clean with a pretty good selection of both fountain and bottled drinks. They have snacks and hot food as well. There isn't anything super impressive about the selection, but for an emergency, it works. I have a big complaint, and I'm sure this will be super silly. Last year, my sister stopped here with me in the car during an emergency. I didn't know then where we were, but I verified it later. Anyway, they had Slush Puppies. Yes, the original Slush Puppies. For you youngsters, Slush Puppies were a staple in the late '80s and early '90s. Similar to Icee or Slurpee, they were unique because you squirt the syrup into the cup, then add the ice. It would blend perfectly. Was it magic? Was it sorcery? Who knows, it was just awesome, and the ice couldn't be beat in texture. Sadly, this location did away with them. It was the first time I had seen them since I was a kid and apparently I won't see them again any time soon. I'm so sad!!!

The big bags of candy are always a great find. However, they are rarely well-stocked on either which is super frustrating during a craving for nostalgic finds. The pet section has a good selection, but honestly it's better for dogs. The cat area doesn't have a lot. Finding cat vaccinations here is also hit or miss; the last time I needed them they had tons for dogs and none for cats. The selection for livestock is good, however. If you have cows or horses this is the place to go. Items for gardens are available; again, the stock is hit or miss. If you need gardening stuff, I'd suggest getting it at the very beginning of the season. A month later and you may be out of luck. If the store was well-stocked, my rating would be higher. However, you can't count on the items you need to be there. When they are, life is good.

The food area is great for small portions or single people like myself. The prices are also good, which is one of the many appeals to shopping at a dollar store. With the limited shopping in Clinton, it's nice to have a good-sized Family Dollar in the area. My only complaint is the register area. It's super congested with product, so your bags have very little room. As long as you have a small or medium shopping amount, it's good. All in all, the store is worth driving 15 minutes from my house to, as it definitely beats my local Dollar General and absolutely beats a trip to Walmart for 3 things.
