I can't say I've always had good experiences at this Walmart, the reason for the 4 stars.. but today one of the employees Lupe was very helpful and i believe deserves recognition for going above and beyond. The scan and go lanes were packed and our particular lane kept having issues with the scanner, requiring employee assistance. Lupe was happy to help and even stayed to make sure we could scan the remainder of our order (because the machine malfunctioned every few items). Needless to say, there are good employees that care about their customers here and I'm happy to have him present during my shopping experience. read more

I live very close to this store, and it gives me most of what I need. It's my go-to place for groceries. The parking lot is huge and there is a Subway inside right next to the main entrance. This store has its share of problems. There are usually about 5-8 registers open at a time and it often gets clogged, resulting in one of them calling in employees to help. They should just keep these registers open all the time. The self-checkout machines are some of the worst I've ever used. They often glitch up and someone has to come over to try to fix it, but they usually aren't able to so you then have to move over to one of their long register lines that I previously mentioned. Just stay away from those machines. Keep in mind, I only go here for groceries so if you want to know about the other departments you should probably read other reviews. For clothes, electronics, or any other things, I usually shop elsewhere. I love the store prices and they carry a few products I can't find anywhere else. But the pharmacy is really very un-professional. It is always a big hassle getting prescriptions, either they lose them, never call the doctor, they make you do it, unlike Target & Jewel pharmacy, where I go to as well for medicine. How come I never have issues there? Mmmmmm anyway do not get your prescriptions filled there. And if you need help in the Ammo section please schedule an hour waiting time because you can never ever get anyone there and expect an attitude like you're bothering them to do their job. So my trips to wal-mart I avoid ALL employees and go straight to the self check out, the only real worker there anyway. It's friendly and works perfectly! read more

Up until my most recent visit, I had sworn off all Walmarts and have been an avid Target fan. I ran in quickly on my way to the gym to pick up some diapers. And my whole world changed. Fact: Target- Pampers Swaddlers jumbo pack size 3 is $37.99 for 92 diapers. Fact #2: Walmart- Pampers Swaddlers jumbo pack size 3 is $37.94 for 144 diapers. Unbelievable. Needless to say, I will be going to Walmart for my paper products and baby needs moving forward. Shame on you Target for ripping people off to this extreme. read more

This is one of the best Wal-Marts in America. Mainly, because it is new. I love that they are one of the only stores, where I can check out my stuff with an iPhone. Look for the scan codes near the door. Great produce, staff and is very clean. read more

I think this walmart is pretty nice. It's clean and the prices are good. I read some of the reviews but I haven't had a bad experience there. The only thing I don't like is the service at the register. The employees that work up front are not as nice as the employees shelving the shelves. They are very helpful and nice. read more

Got my son a 15 dollar toy gun for his birthday and it broke within 12 hours. The checkout was unbearable as the man who check us out was slow as molasses, and honestly if you're gonna charge $15 dollars for a gun that breaks within 12 hours, you shouldn't be in business. Oh Walmart...we definitely have a love hate relationship! However can you not open more than 5 checkout lines during peak hours? I love your values and the fact I can do all my shopping in one place but please consider opening more checkout lines especially when you have employees literally standing around talking and doing nothing. Also...customer service is a real piece of work, at the actual service center and by your employees in general. Old lady working by the self check out kept telling my dad things that the self check out didn't give money back and there was clearly a sign that said that then my dad purchased alcohol while we were there we've shopped at this store multiple times and have never had to show ID even at checkout line for purchasing alcohol even at the fast check but tonight I got stopped..I've always been with my dad while purchasing alcohol from this store they never asked for my id because he's my dad!i just think she was rude on how she handled the situation!not buying alcohol from here again smfh read more

I confess that this past Thursday, I went shopping with one of my best friends at this Walmart Supercenter in Elgin Illinois hoping to not like this department store (especially as an Amazondotcom fan who lives in close proximity to Target, Giant, and just a bus ride away from Costco and still plans on shopping at those places). However, I admit to have liked the variety and layout of this store. Some of the following things I obtained from this store; a travel size pomegranate body wash, caress bodywash, and Oil of Olay Bodywash. I also bought a travel size Garnier Fructic conditioner bottle out of necessity. I also got some snack items (Lay's Wasabi Ginger chips, Barq's Rootbeer). I also noticed that there were some coffee product items that I did not recall seeing before (such as the Coldstone Creamery Brand of Peanut Butter Perfection Hot Cocoa mix). I also ended up purchasing some English Toffee flavored Hills Bros. Capuccino (16 ounce canister, there was even a recipe in the back that uses this cappuccino-English Toffee Apple Turnovers). Walmart is amazing due to it's low prices but the pharmacy sucks. To start off, they often don't have anyone to fill prescriptions in the store's stand and even if you wave at them to come and help you, they just look at you and ignore you. Sometimes it takes about 10 minutes until someone helps you. Then they have you wait for 30 - 45 minutes while they fill your prescription. After that, you have to wait in line and even if you're the only one waiting and there are many pharmacy techs and pharmacists, they still keep you waiting. I am done with Walmart's pharmacy. One day when I went to get my birth control, they just come and charge me full price. I then tell that tech that I have insurance (They even had it in their system already) and her answer is, "Most insurances don't cover birth control". I then tell her that mine does and for her to check it. There she goes to check it and it takes her another 10 minutes. Then she comes and guess what? It does cover it. When I changed to a different health insurance, I go to pick up my birth control and they want to charge me full price but I give her the insurance card and have her look into it. She then looks it up and has the nerve to tell me that my insurance doesn't cover my birth control while I am under the "women's preventive care" which it has a long list of contraceptives that my insurance covers them 100%. I had even called a few days earlier to make sure that my insurance covered my prescribed birth control and I was on the phone with the representative for less than 5 minutes and it was confirmed that my insurance covered it 100%. I printed out the Contraceptive Drug List to show it to the Walmart Pharmacy Tech. She still told me that it didn't cover it. After about 10 minutes of arguing with her for her to call my insurance, she finally calls it. She was then on the phone for over 30 minutes until I just took my insurance card and left. After I left I called my insurance and told them what happened. They looked it up and it even turned out that Walmart's Pharmacy wasn't following my Doctor's Prescription and wanted to give me a different form of birth control. I'm just wondering if Walmart is doing this on purpose to get some extra money. I know I'm not going back there. read more

Convenient, yet the worst customer service. I purchased a steamer that was already opened as one of the associates told me it was clean. After taking it home I realized there was mold inside the water tank of the steamer. While returning it, I told the lady at customer service as to why I was returning it, she didn't even have an answer with an apology or something. I understand that Walmart is a low-price retail joint but it doesn't mean customer service must go along with it. read more

I was was in this walmart several months ago and decided to start a layaway for christmas for my son.(single mother). so , back in september i did exactly that. My layaway total came out to be a total of $160 and change. The layaway due date was december 11th. I returned to the store on december 11th the pay off and pick up my merchandise. The employee that attempted to ring me out was very frazeled and a bit dis-organized saying that she was the only person doing layaways and was having trouble pulling it up. approximately 30 mins later she finished the transaction . explained to me that 2 items went on sale so my layaway would be a bit cheaper. so i paid and she hesitated to give me the receipt. saying she did nto understand why i had a balance of $2. Then said no worries i will go get your merchandise. so another 30 minutes and finally i get my merchandise. on December 27th i was checking my voicemails. I received a voicemail for walmart assocaite saying under the good samaritan act my layaway had been paid in full and come to store to pick up. ii called the store elated that i would be getting a refund and some kind person had taken a big burden off of me because i'm a struggling single mother. However, after talking to them, calling corporate office and returning to the store. nothing was returned to me and was told they do not owe me anything. They went on to say that the $2.00 balance was paid under my layaway and that's all they were going to do for me. Did not even offer a apology gift card for what was clearly a mistake on there part. a company of there stature , i was very saddened that they would do a frequent customer in this manner. read more

Making a return at this Walmart for a Walmart.com purchase. The first clerk told us we need to return online because it was purchased online. I was told differently on Walmart.com and called to see if the online rep could help this girl. Online rep said yes this can be done please have her get a supervisor. "Customer service" manager came And i started to explain the situation and tell her the online rep will explain. Customer Service manager rudely pointed in my face and said I'm not talking to anyone on the phone but I will talk to you! She began her rant on third party returns (of which it was not if she let the rep explain). I asked for the store manager at the online reps suggestion and meanwhile another customer service rep came over and offered assistance. This employee (antionette) took initiative and we processed the return. The store manger came over and I explained how the first customer service person was rude and does not understand her job or customer service. Antionette however is an EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AND EMPLOYEE. She should be promoted to training or management so she can educate the other customer service manager that did not know her job nor how to provide customer service. This rude "customer service" rep was an older woman with bangs and a long pony tail (did not get her name as she covers it....apparently not her first rude interaction) needs to go back to stocking shelves without any customer contact since she clearly doesn't understand the meaning of customer service. read more

I'm not a fussy shopper and I don't expect much help from employees when I shop at Walmart, but a hint of courtesy during check out is all I ask for. Well that didn't happen. Yes, the cashier said hello even though I could barely hear him as he was very quiet and looked extremely miserable working. I didn't mind that.. What I did mind was his lack of respect for my purchases as he basically threw them into the bag instead of putting in a tiny bit of effort to bend down two inches to place them in the bag. I don't mind having packed stuff dropped in but the fruit and vegetables, yes! maybe being a cashier at Walmart is not his ideal job but seriously, take some pride in what you do, put a smile on your face, and respect people's purchases! read more

Hello, when i went in to walmart and had a issue with walmart mis-marking a price on some of their items, the cashier called in a store manager. The store manager whom was called in was named Cynthia i believe, she called me an outright liar with some under tone racial slurs which i will not say in this post. She was very disrespectful towards me and my family as we only wanted to receive our store advertised discounts. We had eventually received our store discounts as this manager realized she was wrong in accusing us of switching store tags infront of a crowded line. There was no apology for basically slandering us infront of a crowd and we have emailed walmart corporate with no answer many times. Upon walking up we have also heard this "manager" denying an employee of taking off a religious and yearly holiday in which they were not notified of having to work. The treatment of employees and customers at this location is ridiculous. I can understand a management position of such a major retailer may be difficult but resulting to public humiliation,public employee rights denied and public slandering of a customer is not right. Once again her name is Cynthia at the new elgin randall road walmart location.
