I realize going to Walmart (and Dollar General) is almost a religious experience for some people but I have to be honest. This place is a dump. Even the announcement speakers are so bad it sounds like a possessed person talking thru them. Most Walmarts have dented cans but I've seen some so bad air has gotten in, you can smell the stuff inside spoiled. Open bag of cat food on shelf. Idiots who pick up refrigerated food and dump it somewhere else sits out for hours and reshelved. Cashiers rarely say hello or thank you, if you even get to a register. Why is it that every Walmart in Dothan AL. have the worst shopping carts for the handicap ? They have about four carts sitting there that don't work. And when you get one, it barely works ,Sometime it will cut off in the middle of shopping. The worker will walk by and not even offer to help. Walmart in this area make to much money to offer such bad service. Worker standing at the door talking to their friends. Carts left out in the rain and heat in the parking lot. They see these carts going out. Oh, that's right they are talking to their friend. This is the reason I now go to Publix , very Great customer service. These days the prices are worth it for me. We have lived here 34 years. We have 3 Walmart stores. All 3 have zero customer service, horrible supply issues and there is never anyone to assist you. Stopped in the South Oates location Nov. 15th because I have been unable to drive & my husband had taken me for a MRI and Ultrasound, so we decided to stop for a few items. I was having difficulty breathing and walking, and know they hardly ever have motor carts, but went in anyway. They had re-arranged the whole store. Nothing was where it was, turning my whole short process of 30 minutes into over an hour after trying to pay. The whole center section was clothing, household appliances, cookware, etc. evidently to try and sell Christmas items. So, they basically 'split' the food into a crazy position- dog food, cleaning supplies, detergent and paper towels and plates (which used to be easily accessible were moved to the very back of the center of the store. After we had walked all the way to the back it was not obvious these items were in this area. We had to walk to the front because we needed Tylenol / shampoo, thinking we would see the items we needed - nope, had to walk all the way back to the very back center and search 4 isles to find can, and dry bag dog food. Not one single Walmart person was seen in this whole 45 minute of an experience I will never go through again. We finally get to the check out with a human cashier and spent $$300 including gift cards we purchased- the machine says do you want cash back and as usual I check $100. Before I could turn around she had totaled the purchase and was standing there holding a $100 dollar bill. I explained I need it broken down. "Can't was her reply, I have already closed my drawer" and I said isn't there a manager or some kind of authorization code you can use? No. So, she steps to the cashier beside her- comes back with no answer then decides she will go over to customer service/exchange. Comes back- says nope can't do it. Then she says but you can wait until one of these people behind you finish ringing up all their things and my drawer will open.... one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. We go over to customer service which is a total laugh. There is no customer service here- just a lady with flashing reindeer lights on her head. I gave the bill to my husband and asked him to ask in case I was too angry to be civil. He asked nicely- Nope- can't do it- no store I know of will do that...and I stepped up and said excuse me but any store but yours will do it. I then asked are your cashiers not trained or taught that it would be courteous of them to ask the customer how do you want that $100 or ask do you need one with or do you need it broken down? She replies it's the time of the season and that is the customer's responsibility- I told her that other Walmart stores ask the customer. By now I am irritable and I said ok- then I need to return something and I reached into our cart and gave her a 6 pack of dog food- she rang it up and my husband placed the $100 bill in front of her and said I would l like this broken down into twentys. We will never shop there again and when I work out the prices and best buy- I will be using Publix & Amazon---no more Walmart for me. Their prices have increased almost weekly and there is absolutely NO customer service at any of them. At EVERY Publix every employee makes an attempt to acknowledge you, thank you, smile and there is never a time I could not find someone to help me. It is so nice to at least know someone appreciates you doing business with them and spending your hard earned money there. read more

I went to this specific Walmart because they had the stroller in stock that I needed. I am from St. Louis visiting my family and had to drive over an hour to get here. Once I got the stroller to the checkout, it rang up for $10 more than what the app said it was. Per Walmart corporate policy, they are supposed to price match as long as they can verify the online price and that it is sold for that price by Walmart (And not a 3rd party). The manager refused to match their own price and said I could order it online and pick it up from their store in 3 hours if I wanted the cheaper price. What in the world?!?! I know $10 isn't much, but it is when you are on a budget and only have a certain amount for the trip. I told her she could put it back, because I wasn't paying the extra money when they were supposed to price match. This is the only Walmart I've ever been to that wasn't willing to price match THEIR OWN PRICE! Completely ridiculous. Horrible customer service. read more

If I could give this particular walmart a zero I most certainly would. There has not been one time I have had a normal/good experience in this store. I am always receiving dirty looks, ignored when asking for help, etc, etc, the list could go on. As I was in check out I had asked to purchase a pack of cigarettes along with my groceries (I had just moved so my Id was still an New Mexico id) as I handed the cashier my Id she started looking at it then proceeded to tell me she "thinks" they are unable to accept it and needs to contact management. After contacting the manager, (not sure of her name, she's a bigger white lady with Blondish / brownish mixed hair) she said they are unable to accept my id. I had asked why they would not accept my I'd, was it because it wasn't an Alabama Id? She said "no, we don't accept ids from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic" and proceeded naming a handful of other Spanish countries." I then was very shocked and asked if it would be okay if it was a Texas or Maine Id, she told me yes! I had asked her why that was since NEW MEXICO IS A STATE IN THE U.S AND NOT A SEPARATE COUNTRY!! She then told me she was getting another employee to explain to me, by then I was very upset over the ignorance I had just tolerated so I had just left as she was speaking to another employee (5 minutes later). I have already called walmart corporate and they were to very shocked by this event! I think management and employees may benefit very well from a geography class as well as some counseling on racism. New Mexico is a state as far as I knew, not a separate county!‍‍ At times I have asked to view jewelry (several times) and I have been ignored or told to wait and nobody ever comes every time. Me and my fiancé were attempting to buy a small pack of earrings and we had waited a good 10 -15 minutes just browsing so I then ask a walmart employee who was NOT busy by any means other than Associating with a mother employee, she had seen me and kept talking and talking I then politely said "excuse me ma'am" she at first gave me a nasty look and then proceeded to just stare like I was interrupting or being a bother in her life. I asked if it was possible she could help me get an item from the jewelry center or contact another employee to do so. She said "mhm"! I did not make a deal over it, thinking maybe she was just having a bad day etc. but as I went back to wait I just watching her continue to talk to another employee. I then just proceeded to check out as I was clearly being put on the back burner and ignored. Another time asking for assistance with the jewelry center I had asked a different lady who just got done getting an item for another customer, she told me "no, no, I am busy, I try to help everyone etc" I said well then, very shocked and again went on my way feeling very mistreated and ignored by a walmart employee. read more

This has to be the worst Walmart I've ever stepped foot in! I visited this location with my mom a couple of times. This walmart is like any other one I've been to except for the horrible customer service in the pharmacy and at the check out lines. They never have my mom's prescription ready at the pharmacy. There's never enough registers opened for checking out. Yesterday my mom was in line for a long time and the cashier turned off her register the minute my mom was going to put her things on the counter. This is uncalled for! There needs to be retraining of the employees or a complete rehire of new employees. With the negative comments on here, I really hope something is done about this walmart location. read more

Just when I thought that i couldn't have an experience worse then the last this Walmart comes along. I went and bought three items. On the way to the car I realized that I was overcharged by $6.00. Not a problem, mistakes happen. I went to customer service and there was only one person in front of me and she was being helped already. I thought that is a good thing I should be in and out. 15 minutes later I have not been helped yet. I don't blame the woman working there the customer brought in an online order, and this being Alabama, I don't know if the customer service had ever done an exchange like this before. The person I do blame is, I guess its the supervisor Vicki. She came up and helped someone who she brought back there and started helping before the 10 to 12 people in front of her. Do not go to this Hellhole. VICKI SHOULD BE FIRED. After she helped that one person she looked at the line and disappeared. When it was finally my turn I asked the lady what was going on and she informed me that she didn't know where Vicki went. WOW, when all was said in done I got my 6.00 and only had to spend 25 minutes in customer service for their error!!!!!! On a separate note, I have never seen a Walmart close its pharmacy for lunch. And they were rude on so many other visits. I really don't blame the workers even though they were talking about things that maybe should have been brought up with customers around. AM AMAZING VISIT!! After standing in yet another non moving line, pages going out every 2 minutes for register trained staff to the front, you get the pic. We were in the garden center when the cashier just walked away from register, went outside and bellowed for a wonderful associate named Cameron. When he begrudgingly shuffled to his register, we were next in line! What a wonderful experience!!! We purchased approximately $150 worth of merchandise, no pricey items. Cameron managed to wring up our entire order without making eye contact or saying a single word! His skill in bag packing was immediately noticed. Cat food with shampoo. Ice cream with sanitary items. A push and pull toggle war trying to get bags off turnstill before packed to exploding. No thank you, not a SINGLE word! No eye contact!! Yup, another person who definitely is worth 15 an hour. Are there no folks out there that need this job? read more

I've just had one of the worst experiences at this Walmart. Like any other day my mom, my friend, and I went in Walmart to do a little shopping on our lunch break. For the past few months we've been couponing and ad matching at this Walmart. Well today like any other day I pulled up the ad on my phone to price match the items I wanted to purchase. The cashier with a little attitude decided to tell me that Walmart doesn't take the ads off the phone. I asked when did this change because I was in the same Walmart twice yesterday and used my phone to price match. She could not give me an answer to my question. She then walks off to go find the Walgreens ad, which she said Walmart did not have. I asked if she would get a manager for me. Alecia the CSM (who's been a rude to us in the past) begin explaining that they no longer took ads from the phone because they've been getting bogus ads. She also proceeds to tell us that they threw the Walgreen's ad away because it expired yesterday. That is a complete lie. Walgreen ads begins Sunday til 12 a.m. Saturday the following week ( March 15th-21st). Being that we are couponers, and know the number one rule of couponing is always know the store policy. No where in Walmart's policy does it require a customer to have the ad nor does it state if the store does not have the ad the customer can't receive the price. To add insult to injury I found out the same CSM let my coworkers use their phones to ad match earlier. Their is only a thirty minute difference in our lunch breaks. I informed the cashier and Alecia that they just lost everyday customers. No apologies or anything was given to ease the situation. I had to walk to my car and get the ad to show her the ad was not expired. All she could say is ,that is what someone told her. We will go spend our hard earned money elsewhere! read more
