They have most new books but hardly anyone is there to help you. Magazines? What a joke. Boxes of new magazines stay stacked for weeks. I've noticed people opening them to get the new ones before they're outdated. As I type this mid-January, Halloween decorating magazines are still out, Christmas cooking and decor magazines still in boxes. One female staffer snapped at me for looking through open boxes of unshelved mags that "she's working on it!" This mystery worker was nowhere in sight. Why didn't the snapping staffer work on it instead of walking around biting at customers? On the plus side, there are probably a dozen different Harry Styles magazines everywhere and up at checkout counters so if you're into that silliness, you'll be pleased to know what they prioritize. Have been going to B&N in Dothan for many years to enjoy weekend afternoons and relax , read , and enjoy drinks and snacks at the cafe . However even though the store has opened up somewhat , still no cafe to enjoy here on June 7 around 3 months after the virus started ! It's not too hard to plan and execute a way to partially open up the cafes , most restaurants are doing it and have been for weeks now . No excuse not to at this point ! I have used them probably over 10 years but I'll not go back until they have the confidence and management skills to properly reopen the entire store and cafe for customers . There's still other places to go enjoy good coffee and food on a long weekend afternoon and relax . Very disappointed in B&N !! read more

Associates are lazy and don't want to look for something in the back for you. When you ask someone else they say they had someone else try and that they aren't going to try. Awful customer service. They give you an attitude if you don't buy more when they tell you their is a deal going on. Telling you to get more when you only want one thing. There is a blonde lady that works here that has a BAD attitude problem. she was completely rude ignoring the work that the cashier was doing repeating what the cashier said and giving me an attitude when I said she literally just said that and you weren't paying attention and assuming she didn't do her job well. Love coming in here but have decided to take a break from making purchases from B&N and buying from Amazon instead. This needs work! These couple associates make me not want to come back and I was coming in several times a week. I miss getting stuff in store but I hate walking in dealing with these rude associates. Update: they are still rude and I will not be buying anything from this store ever again. I will tell everyone I work with to avoid this place completely and just get items off amazon. read more

Pretty standard Barnes and Noble store. Great selection in house, which is important because there are not many Barnes and Noble options in this area. They have a Starbucks Coffee cafe inside as well, which gives an additional reason to head here. The coffee was good but not as good as others I have been to. The customer service was spot on and I have not one single complaint about that. It's quiet if you want to work on their free WiFi and that's always a plus. My only issue is the lack of wall sockets... makes it difficult for more than one or 2 people to charge their phones or laptops without sharing a table. Overall it's a good example of a Barnes and Noble bookstore and Starbucks cafe. read more

I joined B & N because a store manager promised I would receive a $10 coupon. The coupon never came. I called Customer Service and was told it would come out in September. In Sept. I texted a representative who told me I had enrolled a day too early. I thanked the rep for checking and asked to opt out of automatic renewal. I immediately got a confirmation form that I was out. Since it had been one of their store managers who had told me I qualified I then called Customer Service. Again I was told that I did not qualify and there was nothing they could do. This representative told me I would have to go back to the store manager (70 miles away) and talk to her about it. read more

Always a pleasure to find a Barnes & Noble anywhere I travel... sure, one store is almost exactly like the others, but for some reason that's part of the charm, a sense of comfort and ease of access to browsing, and of course every store will yield a slightly different selection and the possibility of there being "that" big find. My main interest is in the bargain books and CDs collections, and Barnes & Noble has always had huge sections for these items. read more

Good selection of books, magazines and other items. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The coffee could be stronger. For a bookstore that is a "mega" book store, it is very nice. However, I really miss the small independently owned book stores of the past. There was a cozy feel that just can't be replicated by these mega book stores. read more

Generally, I love to support small, local businesses. But when I can't, and I have to shop in a big chain store, it's easy to do so guilt-free when the employees are so charming and helpful. I've been to this location a few times now: once to browse with a coffee in hand and twice with my kids in tow for story time and shopping exclusively in the kiddo section. I have had such great experiences with the staff each time. They have patiently answered questions (mine and my toddler's) about everything from books (in and out of stock), games, and even general questions about Dothan. read more

I have always liked barnsey since it was a single store in new york. It has been an excellent source of inspiration for what to read next and almost uniformly the staff is friendly and helpful. Having coffee where i sit and read is excellent. I too like the local stores also, and my favorite by far is not a small local one, but one on a grand scale and i think the best in the bookseller business - Powells in Portland. My sole gripe these days with Barnes is that they have changed the paradigm in the digital department, it used to be that they had all the current music on the end caps and lots of CDs to choose from, I like to browse music just like books, now most of the digital selection is DVDs, not cool! The wife and I love "our" hangout. We enjoy getting a coffee, reading and they have really good clearance deals. The soups and pastries are good. The pizza's and sandwiches are just okay, it's prepackaged frozen ones so not too bad considering. read more

Very good bookstore with a cozy cafe feel. Only negative arises approximately 1 hour before close when employees begin a scramble to "close shop" early by upturning chairs and turning off case lights in the cafe. Management should address this issue. read more
