This place is vintage and very Vibey. Fun selection of records and trinkets that make you feel like you walk into a record store in the 70s. They even sell some instruments. T-shirts, both vintage and store branding for very much quality. It's just a fun place. It's still walking into browse in the pick up a few souvenir years. read more

Such a fun store! The staff were friendly and really helpful. The store has a nice selection of reasonably priced new and used music, t-shirts, posters, prints and unique gift items. I will definitely stop in whenever I'm in the area. Be sure to check out the great book store downstairs as well. read more

Originally had a 1 Star review because of the staff that was at the register. But, the owner went over the top to figure out why our experience was so poor to fix it. So I'm changing it to a 5 star review. Any owner that cares that much has my respect and I'll give the record store another chance when we go back to Seaside. read more

Great spot to browse albums, tees, get a beer, sit on the deck and dig the tunes. They have CDs too, turntables, and tons of other interesting stuff. Cool. read more

I loved this record store. They had a bunch of vinyls, tshirts, coffee mugs, bags, etc... they had so many things I wanted but I ended up purchasing a Dolly Parton bag and a Frank ocean blonde t-shirt. The staff was great and the balcony overlooks the food truck area. Highly recommend this vinyl store. It is located on top of a bookstore. read more

Stumbled upon Central Square Records while browsing a neighboring (I'm assuming related) bookstore in Seaside. It's the upstairs neighbor and I'm glad I decided to check it out because it was such a cool spot. I'm not one for getting gifts for friends when I travel, but Central Square Records was the perfect place to find a cute momento to take home with you as a gift, or just something for yourself!! The location couldn't be more perfect. As the name implies it's central to all the shopping in Seaside. There were so many rare vinyls, and my boyfriend and I spent so much time looking through each of them. Central Square Records also offered a huge selection of newer vinyls. In fact the day we were there I noticed a record that had just been released the previous day. It was impressive they were able to get them in stock so quickly. The part of Central Square Records I like the most were all the tshirts that lined the back wall. It felt like I was at a show trying to buy some merch. There were so many to choose from!! Central Square Records is definitely worth checking out when you're out and about in Seaside! Even if you go up on their patio just for a sweeping view of the entire business district. read more

I had a great time visiting this record store from out of town. They had a decent selection and the staff were so very nice! Found some treasures to bring home and enjoy! read more

I've had some scores here, mostly on Record Store Day releases that didn't move quickly enough and so we're generously discounted. (Who knew you could find Roky Erickson in this part of the world?) On the whole, I found the selection quite limited and that pricing was well high of market rates for the same albums on Discogs. I assume this is a reflection of rents in the area, however, and commend them for serving vinyl-hungry dads like me. Staff is friendly and helpful. read more

What a great little funky record shop! Ahas the great vintage record store vibe with lots of cool posters, t-shirts, & great selection of new & used vinyl. Nice selection of musical instruments as well! Conveniently located above a great little bookstore in the great Seaside community! A must stop for any vinyl collectors & music buffs! read more

Always looking to expand my record collection for old 80s music. Started looking through hundreds of old 45s in a box underneath the organized records that took forever. Finally found a gem only to go up to pay for it and the owner charged me double the price than what was listed. After saying no to that price, I watched him put it back in the organized rack with the other 45s. All that searching just to be disappointed on the service. Never going back again. read more

It's too easy to miss this spot. But please, please don't! The record store is above the bookstore (another fantastic little shop), and you can get to it from the staircase outside AND inside. Currently they are only allowing you in if you are wearing a mask (I saw them even provide some masks to a few patrons...which was super cool). Watercolor has several hand sanitizer stations set up in the main square already. Likewise there is a sanitizer station within the record store itself. The shop is filled with kooky fun little finds. I am a sucker for a sticker souvenir when on a vacation and this is the motherload. I even managed to find a couple fun Christmas gifts for people here. (Yes, I am that kind of chick, but you know what!? The Holidays will be here before we know it and then when you're stuck shopping for a bajillion people, I'll be the one sipping hot cocoa (LOL)-chocolate milk with extra ice, just chillin.) They have soooo much vinyl and allow you to listen before you buy. There are also CDs...if you're into that kind of ~(*alternat!ve*~` stuff. read more

Cool little record/CD store that also sells some t-shirts and other knick knacks. We stopped in to shop for a CD to listen to during the car ride back, and we were impressed by CSR's local selection. Very charming shop, well worth visiting! read more

I always love coming to Central Square each fall that I make my trip down to Santa Rosa. They always have a wide variety of records and even some newer selections. Their playlist it always on point (as it should be!) and I love the apparel and little knickknacks that they always have. This time around I bought a sweatshirt to rep their brand and awesome shop. If you're planning on making a trip to Central Square I recommend entering through the bookshop because the staircase on the way up is my favorite! Not to mention the staff is always friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. Can't wait to come back next year! read more

I have a medical condition that causes low blood oxygen and I cannot wear a mask. I was refused entry. In the era of music downloads, Central Square Records is a fantastic place to browse around and explain to your kids that music on vinyl is simply cool. Listening to the pop of a needle as it runs around the single groove of a 33 1/3 piece of plastic will take you back in time. They also have old suitcases that have been turned into record players complete with build in speakers. My 20 year old daughter who's in college was admiring an old Rumors album by Fleetwood Mac. It is amazing the artwork and photography that went into creating these old album jackets. For those who prefer CD's, they have those too. Not only do they have LP's on vinyl, they also have various other items for the musician including a small selection of drum sticks, handmade guitar straps which are really cool. The same guy that is supplying the guitar straps also makes some really cool looking camera straps of those folks who still use a real SLR cameras instead of their camera phone. If you found this review to be useful, funny, or just plain groovy, please let me know below. Thanks for reading. read more

Record stores are getting hard to find these days. Vinyl is still hanging in there and people are starting to go "Oh yeah, CDs LOL!" so that helps, but I really like how this place operates. They have a nice spot going on and there's lots of cool impulse buys in there besides the music. But the most important thing IS the music, and the staff here really know their stuff. They'll chat with you about what's new, what's good, what's coming and what's collaborative, and they aren't elitist about it. Don't listen to the naysayers who complain about price; the record labels are always going to get their pound of flesh, you just don't remember it because you haven't actually paid for music in a decade because of Napster, Kazaa and bit torrents. These guys aren't price gouging; owning a small record store is a labor of love. But they have their finger on The Pulse and are happy to share it with you. read more

I was elated to find Central Square Records during my visit as it included a very very knowledgeable staff of charming musicphiles, great selection of albums, CDs, and quirky merchandise. I could find anything from the newest Kills or Strokes (median price $15) to an affordable collection of vibrant colored ukuleles ($30) or squirrel underwear. Yes, squirrel underwear. I loved the open 2nd floor layout that is connected to Sun Dog books too and could have shot the shiz with the staff and dug through their racks for hours. I was able to get 3 CDs and a dashing pair of sunglasses for $64 which isn't bad especially considering that this spot is located in Seaside tourist mecca. read more

Part pop culture museum, part retail shop (but most everything's for sale), Central Square is the perfect place to buy something groovy to take back to the poor souls who didn't get to come to the beach with you. It's also a great place to hide out during one of the gulf coast's periodic afternoon rain showers. If you're a vinyl lover, you'll find tons of records to browse through. There are also awesome "Sonic Suitcases" for sale made from vintage luggage and waiting for your iPod. It's a quirkily unique way to take the party with you. It's my understanding that you can also have a Sonic Suitcase made to order - decorated with the logos of your favorite sports team, painted your favorite color, etc. A great selection of t-shirts, fun gifts and post cards rounds out the selection at Central Square. The staff is knowledgeable about all kinds of music and the selection is great. read more

Very cool, eclectic place! Love to peruse the shelves and see what kind of fun merchandise they sell. we stop by every year and our in laws love to pick up stocking stuffers around Christmas time :) the staff isn't the friendliest but I'm seeing that as a trend for the area, oh well. read more

For the latest new releases or vintage vinyl, this is THE PLACE to go. Every Saturday they have used vinyl specials! Knowledgeable people who are really interested in helping you find what you need/want or they can get post haste. Baby Amoeba in terms of size and selection. Cozy location upstairs from the bookstore. Most of the back area was undergoing renovations or somesuch. Small sections of memorabilia with bags, mugs, cozies, posters, shirts, plus racks of cards. The two gents on the floor sported iconic wardrobes; the guy at the register could've been an extra in High Fidelity, and the other was the poster boy of hipster semi-indifference. Enthusiastic to engage two ladies browsing the goods, they touted Miracle Fortress, Cody Copeland, and Digitalism. Requests were accepted for background music, a nice change-up from big-chain listening stations. A nice essential for the locals. read more

This is one of my favorite cd shops, okay, record stores ever...and I've been to quite a few great ones. What makes this one stand out is the energy of the store and its staff. Think High Fidelity audiophiles without most of the angst and pretension; these employees are affable. You wouldn't expect a music store this cool in the middle of Seaside, atop an equally cool book store, Sundog Books. If you go to one, you must go to the other. They are adjoined by a great wooden staircase at the back of Sundog, past the flyers, then ascend into this audiophile haven. Eclectic and almost too hip for the silly vacationers wandering around below through Seaside. You'll be transported to (insert hip college town of your choice here). In fact, keep an eye out for instore performances. read more

In a place like Seaside, you definitely don't expect a place like Central Square Records. It's a hip record shop, like the kid found in Portland or Brooklyn or any city USA, circa mid-90s. It's stocked full of a gamut of cool and hip jams (Tame Impala was humming away on the hi-fi while I shopped there recently, and the counter guy bantered with me about Melody's Echo Chamber), yet they are also well-stocked on some of the more mainstream and classic titles that would have more appeal to the average Seaside shopper. I can imagine the multitude of surly teenagers, dragged on vacation with their yuppie parents to this uppity beach town, thinking they are in for a week of super-lame existence, then they stumble upon this spot and are in their ever-loving glory. (FYI, I am a former surly teenage, now 37-y.o. man with a family, and I absolutely adore Seaside. But I could see this POV coming from my teenage self). Staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and seemed to be generally enjoying themselves - if only just cos they were so casual and relaxed and just hanging out chatting. That's definitely the vibe of this place - a total hang-out spot. Prices range from are-you-kidding-me outrageous to average. When I grabbed a handful of interesting unpriced LPs out of some crates on the floor, the counter guy had to look up prices - surprisingly, in a record guide book, as opposed to online. As a result, a few of them were overpriced, and a few were underpriced, so it worked out OK in the end. I didn't really need anything I bought, but was very glad to help support this business. May they carry on successfully for decades to come. read more

Great music store with a fantastic selection (although they never have ANYTHING by butch walker so thats where they lose a star). Loads of vinyl and random ass post cards and birthday cards. My favorite reads :my mother said if you can't say anything nice, dont say anything at all (open the card and its BLANK!) Hilarious. Wonky knowledgeable staff that always amuse me every time I come in. They will look up musicians for you and play them via itunes or Spotify (what you dont know what spotify is?! PM me for an invite.) Friendly staff, and a GREAT view of the water from the second floor. Oh and gorgeous ukuleles with matching cases for under $50. :) read more

This place was really a surprise to find in the Panhandle area - and in Seaside no less. It reminded me a bit of some of the stores I'm used to in Athens & Atlanta (though without a large used CD section and much tidier). The selection is much more unique and less mainstream than you'd expect to find in the area. I'm probably underestimating the area, but it didn't seem like there would be a huge market for the type of record store they are. I was surprised to see a lot of new vinyl here and we picked up a couple LPs. They have some books, magazines, and tchotchkes as well. The staff seemed kind of bored and not very engaged. 4 read more

Great little record & music shop above the bookstore in downtown Seaside, FL. The staff are SUPER helpful and friendly. They made us feel very welcome without being pushy at all. They are obviously very knowledgeable. I ended up getting the Crosley that they recommended to me and am super happy with it. They had an excellent selection of records, both old and new, especially for a moderately sized store. The prices of the records were reasonable and pretty much on par with what you would pay online, plus they will play any record for you in house before you buy so you know the condition. read more

What's not to love about this place? They always have interesting music playing and try to showcase artists outside the Top 40. I always get turned on to someone new after visiting the store. The best view of any record store I've ever been in. Being a record store employee myself, I always pay close attention to the way the employee treats the customer. It's important, and it's what builds the relationships that keep these treasures open. Central Square has that in spades. Great folks, great attitude and a great store. You won't find bargains here, but I would imagine with the rent this spot has to pay, there wouldn't be much room for markdowns. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the 30-A area. read more

A great little record shop! It is small, and the selection is not huge, but my husband and I have made a few great finds here. I stopped by to grab some coffee and relax while I was in Destin for a few days. I'm not a record collector so I can't comment on the selection or prices, but I loved this place as a coffee shop. There was a section in the back with fun stuff that was a little pricey ($15 sunglasses, $15 reusable bag), but they had lots of interesting things to look through, and I got my roommate a $5 grab-bag of 3 mini-records that ended up including a Grateful Dead album. The staff was really helpful and friendly, and Sharrah was there that day doing henna tattoos (she's awesome)! I would definitely return next time I'm in the area. read more
