Not the first time I realize all the time the auto center has a long wait with mistakes. There usually no one at the counter to help. There is a wait even if you ring a curtsy bell. There is no leaving the counter to go to the shop to find a tech because of a lock door, no exit. Then first day there, all registers died, in the middle of my transaction. Second time next day no one was able to accept payment from a gift card but Joann from the customer service front desk. Joann was creative, cashed the gift card so I may pay cash and complete the transaction. To pick up vehicle was another wait at the front counter for a tech, when one arrived he said he had no cash and sent me to front customer service where Alex attempted to help. He was unable to transact an auto service at front took me back to auto center and when he was unable to complete transaction he called Coach Miguel which finally decided to take care of me by opening register drawer (had cash in it) refund the remaining and said he take care of paperwork later so I may leave store (took an hour to check out). Picked up my order (a fleece blanket) and it was gross and clearly used. I was told Walmart doesn't do exchanges, and now I have to pay for shipping to hopefully not get another gross blanket. Store employees were awesome/helpful though. Update- ordered 4 blankets to be shipped to me and of course the only thing that came was the same gross blanket I had returned!!!!!! I can't believe they didn't just throw it away the first and second time it was returned. Update- I never received the 3 other blankets, or a refund, and it has been over 10 days. Every customer support member tells me something different. Update- Walmart will still not provide me with a refund. At least I finally got the contact info for their ethics/legal department. 3 ridiculous events in 1 trip. The management at this location needs to be retrained themselves. 1. I told a worker in the aisle I was in (who was restocking) that all of the X product was well beyond its best by date and he said,"What do you want me to do about it?" 2. I asked an employee a question and they ignored me and just kept walking away - while on their personal cell phone. 3. Cashier said, "There is no sticker on this bakery item... I can't sell it to you". I said can't you look up price or is there another person that can help and she said,"Not happening! But you are free to go back and get another one." I made my first visit to this Walmart today and I will not return. Per the store's COVID-19 protocols, only three fitting rooms are open and someone (seemingly a manager) has to unlock them one by one on an as needed basis. This was my first time using a fitting room at any Walmart. First, I found it unusual to have such a high ceiling and a large skylight above the room to give the idea of an more exposed experience that I would like. Second, a knock on the door; "someone's in here" I said. A few minutes later, another knock and again I said "someone's in here." This time however, the staff member unlocked the door and opened it. Fortunately I was already dressed. Not only did the employee not say excuse me or I'm sorry, but left the door open for me to close. This Walmart is the best store I have ever been to. This was probably the cleanest, nicest, biggest, and the well-organized Walmart around this area. Their store is well-kept. They also have pharmacy that is so excellent. The service there was so exceptional. Their store is so popular, they have all of the items we need for our daily essentials, and all the items we might looking for. This store really does care about all of their customers, their staff is so friendly, helpful, and decent, and they also know how to treat their customers right. All of their employees are willing to help all of their customers in any kind of situation. It always amaze me how this Walmart is so different to other stores around the city. I am really grateful that this Walmart is so near in our neighborhood. Thanks so much to this store! I always find and get everything I need. Will shop here again soon. I'm a 60 year old woman with some wrinkles and light gray hair. Nobody would ever think I'm 42 years younger than that. My wife is 63, dark gray hair and more wrinkles. Old farts, no doubt. We went this afternoon, Saturday feb 27/21 to the DeKalb, IL Walmart to buy stuff for our dinner and something to cook tomorrow, Sunday. The idea was to eat something and relax with a movie and a drink. We went to the liquor store in the back of the building, my wife stayed out by the door with our cart and I went in to buy 2 mini bottles of whisky (big drinker!!). I gave the employee, a woman younger than me, my debit card and she asked me for my ID. I was shocked! It wasn't my first liquor purchase at Walmart and I'm old!. I didn't have it and she said I couldn't purchase the liquor. Whaaaat??? I laughed my ass off and went out to ask my wife if she had hers. She did, so she went and told the lady she wanted to buy the whisky. The woman told my old wife she wouldn't sell it to her because my wife will give it to me!!!! Yessss!!! We live in the same household!!!. Even worse: we'd drink it together!!!! What a pair of criminals!!! I wasn't mad at the employee, I thought she misunderstood the instructions. Do you think this is lunacy? It gets better. We asked to talk to the manager, a very nice young woman, who told us the lady did the right thing and we couldn't purchase any alcohol!!!!! WTF????!!!! We told her we are legally allowed to purchase alcohol and what we do with it it's not Walmart's business, even if we go out and give it to a minor. She told us it is Walmart's business because, if they sell us alcohol and we kill someone with our car, Walmart is responsible. Whaaaat???!!!So how long, before and after the purchase, is the liquor store responsible for the drinker's behavior?. We were not drunk, we didn't drink alcohol for several weeks. I realized the manager had not clue about anything. I'm still scratching my head... Something else we noticed during our last 2 visits: a lot of things are gone, no variety, even some esencials are gone. A lot of empty spots everywhere, including the fridges and even merchandise and spot are gone together. Most of the registers are closed. I heard today that this Walmart will close. I don't think so but they are weird... We went to American Liquors on Lincoln Hwy and 1st St, something I should've done from the beginning. During the last 10 years they never asked me for my ID, they have great prices, great seleccion and they're very nice people. UPDATE: I just received an email from Walmart with their policy to sell alcohol. You need to have your passport, drivers license o tribal documents to buy alcohol even if you are 100 y/o. But if you have kids they will not sell alcohol to you. If you are in a group they will not sell it to you. If you try to buy alcohol and they think you are with other people, they will not sell it to you. Plus our case: if you go with your spouse to buy together, they'd not sell it to you. But they clarified that if a kid touches a bottle, they will still sell it to you. I'm trying to understand this last one. WALMART DECIDES WHAT YOU, A FREE ADULT AMERICAN, CAN AND CAN NOT DO WITH A BOTTLE OF LIQUOR PURCHASED ACCORDING TO THE LAW. No, thank you. read more

I purchased tires from Walmart of Dekalb, IL along with warrantee and lifetime balance and rotation. I returned for balance/rotation on 9/18 (Tech: Calvert 13835). When I left the store, the car's steering wheel started wobbling back and forth. I contacted my personal mechanic (Bill White's Car Hospital in Dekalb, IL) and they got it in to look at it today, 9/29 and said "RF tire has a lot of cupping on the treat. Steering shake is from the tire. The tire also has a very unprofessional balance job. On the inside, there are weights across from each other. This is not correct. This means one side was balance too heavy and rather than removing some weight, they counteracted the heavy weight by adding more across the tire." I drove straight from the mechanic's shop to Walmart, where Calvert 13835 called me ignorant and started a screaming match with me. Jarrod 13627 intervened and offered to rebalance the wheel (as I told him that I didn't want Calvert anywhere near me or my vehicle). The problem is the tire has cupping issues already from being improperly balanced by Calvert on 9/18. I'm aware that alignment and suspension can cause cupping also, but this was checked by my mechanic and improper balance was verified to be the problem. Jarrod rebalanced the tires. I just left and the wheel is still wobbling back and forth due to the cupping on the tire. I would like to get my tire replaced because this was not of any fault of mine, it was improperly done by Calvert. Calvert should have no place in a TLC shop. First and foremost, improper service is more than frustrating it is dangerous. Furthermore, his arrogance, laughing at my concern and raising a verbal fight with me is highly unacceptable and should not be tolerated of any employee. I'm requesting his release. And if that is not acceptable, he should at least get lecture for his conduct and face re-training for his inability to do a proper balance job. I will also add that the employees need to learn how to wear masks properly. At this point, I will never bring another vehicle to Walmart for any kind of service and I will be extremely public in advising others to do the same. My only positive notes to make at all are that Tionna 14511 was my service writer on both visits, conducted herself very professionally and was the only one to wear a mask properly. Jarrod 13627 looked out for his employee, which I can understand. But someone needs to start caring about the customer, their vehicle, the concern and their safety. I am making contact with Walmart's corporate office regarding my experience and concerns. PS: In light of the current pandemic, this store is the absolute worst place in regards to mask mandates. The entire time I was in the store, I only saw TWO employees properly wearing masks (over nose and mouth for those of you that are too ignorant to understand that). I have an autoimmune disease and Alan (30 year employee currently in TLE) continued to get right in my personal space with his damn mask under his chin. The place is a recipe for disaster in regards to the pandemic and overall cleanliness. Glad a Meijer store just opened locally, because I'm done with this f'n place. read more

Worst Walmart that I ever been here in DeKalb Walmart workers are the worst, I lived many years in Aurora Il and took my car for an oil change all the time and never had any problems, they even knew me, we moved to DeKalb and the last time that I took the car the guy who was there was very shady, saying the cap for the oil was gone, which was very odd because I opened the hood on my car that day and the cap was there, then started trying to confused me and ended doing the wrong type of oil and charged me for services they didn't even do, my husband spoke with them and they had to returned the money and guest what cap for oil was there, just lies. My husband speaks with the manager and his nice and returns the money, my husband talks directly with the manager and ask if they do oil change for Audi? the manager tells him yes we do Audis but we are so pack we started doing tires and we have no time at all, we are booked, my husband asks can I bring it early in the morning, yes you can, my husband speaks 3 times with the manager yes no problem bring it, never asked what model is or anything, I get there 8am not a soul in the parking lot only another car, I go in and sorry we dont have the parts for that model, my husband spoke with the manager 3 times and he knew what model it was, what a joke, I wont ever do any business with Walmart even if is the last store available in the world, I rather go without it. This store is incredibly unorganized. The cashier I had this evening was as slow as molasses. Literally waited 35 minutes in her line just for her to incorrectly scan an item and not know how to fix it. While waiting for a manager...the other cashier tried to help and couldn't, even the customer behind me tried to help. Walmart should NOT have new cashiers on the floor during a back to college busy evening. Her lackadaisical attitude was appalling. People have better things to do with their time. I have shopped at the DeKalb Walmart for years. Over the past years I have watched the store gradually go down hill. It is now to the point where I will have to find another store to shop at. We can go there at 8:00 AM and there will only be one checkout open and it will be the cigarette checkout with no conveyor. The attitude of checkout people and people stocking shelves is terrible. It's bad enough to have to put up with rude employees but the people at this Walmart are aggressively nasty. It's not unusual to have another idle employee standing by the one and only checkout person,talking and goofing off. The return area is always littered with at least a dozen full carts scattered all over. Getting a thank you is long gone at that store. I think it's time Walmart closed that store. read more

The online order pick up orders are a mess. They have 20 reserved spots and they are all full in the afternoon and you have to wait over an hr. Everyone filling the orders looks under 21 and moves like a turtle. There seems to be no real management supervision. Out of the billion things I have bookmarked to review I can't believe I'm so pumped to write THIS review first, but I do have a lot to say and though it's the END of the semester for all the NIU students, this may be some good advice to start thinking about for next year (especially if you're new up there). This is the LARGEST Wal-Mart I've ever seen in my life. You could easily get lost in there. If you're looking for dishes for your new apartment, they have them, little furnishings too if you're interested, and all of it is cheap, of course, it's Wal-Mart. As far as food, this is where you want to do the bulk of your shopping. Not for items that will spoil (there are better grocery stores around the area for that) but if you're looking to get a good deal on cereal, peanut butter (larger quantities than in the lower burbs where some of you may be from) this is the spot. Dish washing soap etc. Also, I picked up 2 pair of shorts here for 3 dollars on clearance once! Just something I needed...and it was amazing to find that deal. So enjoy your stay in DeKalb and remember if you feel lonely, there's always a million people running around the museum sized Wal-Mart to talk to about potato chips. read more

Waited 1 1/2 hours at curbside to pick up my order. No one ever came so I left, came back qnd finally someone answered the phone and told me my order was not prepared yet. Well my substitute s were already showing up not to mention I was still checked in on the app. So after all the time I wasted, not to mention the order was delayed 3 1/2 hours after scheduled time, I had to cancel the order. When I called the main customer service line to make sure it got canceled, not even an apology was given. I will never do curbside order from walmart in Dekalb again. Seems the curbside orders have been delayed on pick up a lot lately. The last time I waited 45 minutes for a small order. I'm sorry, but when a curbside order is stated as ready for pick up there's no way I see a person having to wait near an hour or so for it to be brought out regardless if it's busy or not. That's just ridiculous. Curbside is meant to save time, not to waste near your entire day and not even know if they even got your order. I might as well also mention, a few weeks prior to this my order was delayed so I called and was told NO ONE was there getting orders prepared so I had to wait til the next day to pick it up. For a place that has a website dedicated to the people who shop there, it lives up to the "hype". It's Walmart. Walmart is a sad place to go. It's where you go when you have no other choice. They have been called the low price leader, and granted they do have pretty cheap prices on most of their items. But do you have to hire people that need an anti-depressant Wal-Mart? Does the lighting have to resemble a morgue? Granted, they have gotten some "cooler" items as of late. Their Wild Oats organic line is pretty great. They also sell the Gardein line of meatless food. They stock Earth Balance butter. I am also a fan of their Straight Talk cellular phone plans. But even those things cannot get me through their front doors. This type of experience is across the board though, so I can't pick on our Wal-Mart specifically. But I often wonder how Wal-Mart got this way. read more

Poor location. The store always seems to be very cluttered, and very understaffed. I have been multiple times and there are always items on the floor and messy shelves. The location is a college town, so there are usually a lot of people there, ESPECIALLY on Sundays. One particular time I went there was a woman screaming at her children, so loudly that everyone stopped talking and moving to look over, it was that loud. No staff was present, and if there were they didn't handle the situation. I go here for cheaper pet supplies and house essentials but other than that I do my shopping elsewhere. read more
