Oddly enough, I was visiting from California, and decided to shop at TJ Maxx. I bought things I could have easily bought at home, but hey - I brought a bigger suitcase with extra room for moments like this. I saw a few things I couldnt quite pass up. They also had quite a few Chicago Cubs items, that I was looking for... and got a great deal on! A plastic tumbler, short sleeve jersey material shirt, hats, golf tees, luggage "thingy" for lack of a better word this morning.... Very friendly employees as well! read more

Love TJMAXX, just wish they would stop hounding customers about their credit card. Specifically I wish managers would stop pressuring cashiers to get credit card sign ups. (Because they're the only ones who get a pay cut from it) read more

TJS MAXX is one of my favorite stores. The Dekalb location is just as nice as the others I've visited. However, I am a little upset with an employee I encountered a few days ago. The girl checking me out was very sweet but another employee behind the counter was very abrupt and not so nic. I needed to break a 100 dollar bill and since I was already there I simply asked if they could break it for me. A woman employee in a red top rudely snapped at me and in a nasty tone told me in no uncertain terms that they couldn't open up their registers. A nicer tone would have been fine. I left that store feeling like I committed a criminal act for merely asking a question. I understand that people try to pass illegal bills but a simple, I'm sorry we can't would have sufficed. Instead I a 73 year old woman was treated like a con artist. TJ Maxx in Dekalb needs to have a talk with this woman. I'm very upset with the way she treated me. read more

I stopped by again a few weeks ago, shortly before moving out of the area, and was stunned at the improvements they made to the store. I had stopped by several times in the past year and a half that I lived in the area, and on each of those occasions, it was as though a tornado passed through. On my most recent visit, almost everything was organized neatly, and the items that were not , or that were clearly tampered with, were all placed in clearance, as they should have been in the first place. I was also pleasantly surprised at the new selection of beauty and hair products they had - including Too Cool for School, and even Dippity Do, which is relatively hard to find in the US. I am giving this update a 3/5 stars, one more than last time, because as impressed as I was with the improvements, it should have never been as bad as it was. Service was still friendly, so I would say its up to par with the other TJ Maxx branches I have visited. Though I moved away, I hope they keep the store as organized as it was on my last visit. I made sure to mention how impressed I was while checking out, and that I hope they keep it this way. read more

Yes, I understand TJ Maxx is a bargain basement type shop. I get that, I really do, but come on, now...Their plus sized section is something really leaves so much to be desired. I am in my early 30's and I do not wish to wear anything floral with an elastic wasteband for a tee shirt. Granted they have come quite a way in the past couple of years, but they still have a long way to go. Everytime I leave that store, I vow never to go back due to the almost complete lack of clothing for the larger woman. The ratio of racks of regular womens clothing to plus size womens has to be 5:1. This needs to change! Plus size women's clothing cost more to make because of the quantity of product needed. If store like TJ Maxx would come to their senses and see that, then they would also see they could possibly increase their profits. And now since Old Navy is gone the only place I will shop is on randall road in Batavia. With that being said, I have to spend more to get the same outfit that someone who can get it at this tj maxx. I have to pay gas to get there, I have to pay higher cost for the outfit, and then I have to pay higher tax. C'mon TJ Maxx.... read more

This is my second time at this location after visiting family. I was looking for a couple items and decided to leave after being there for a short time due to the horrible mess all over the store. Items were lying around everywhere, unorganized, especially in the clothing section. It just made the experience uninviting so I just ended up leaving the store. read more

You have to look for deals. Although everything is considered a deal there is still many things you will find that are almost or near full price but not what the item is listed for. Great picks in housewares! read more

Like any discount department store, this one is hit or miss. I have walked out with nothing, and I've walked out with bags full. I have great luck finding bargains in the beauty product section, lots of salon products for 50% or less of retail. I also have luck with earbuds and tech accessories here, occasionally lingerie and shoes. I have never found much I needed in the housewares department. The hunt is half the fun and typically you can always find some bargain that you need here! read more

I don't usually like to shop in this type of discount store because they are messy and it is hard to find anything. This is a BIG exception. It is clean and well organized. There are never long lines to check out and the jewelry counter is manned. The only reason it doesn't have 5 stars in my book is that they stopped carrying Petites. This is the best place in the DeKalb area to find really nice clothing. read more
