Shop here all the time. Like to use Sandra, when I checkout. She is fast, doesn't mind packing all my groceries in all the bags I drag into the store, always pleasant. Noticed a long time ago, people will bypass a shorter line to just have Sandra check them out. Now I know why. Cannot believe how hard employees work there and they do not get bothered if you ask where an item is, they will stop, look on their phone and either redirect you there or take you to the aisle. I always love Walmart supercenters because you not only have food, but you also have things like technology items like laptops and phones and cables, as well as bicycles and tools and car parts as well as toys and HomeGoods. The prices are definitely one of the best prices that you'll find in any store. And there's always Free Parking and the staff are always willing to help you. Walmart Grocery Pickup needs to figure it out. Walmart needs to post clear signs indicating where the pickup line begins so that cars aren't blocking traffic or cutting in front of people who were already in line for an available pickup spot to streamline what to do when all of the pick up spots are full. This was the case today when I was waiting for a spot to open become available when random cars cut in line to speak to the associates filling orders only to get in line on the opposite end of the pickup area. It was frustrating because people who were trying to cut in front of the pickup spot line would get out of their car to speak with an associate regarding their order despite the fact that 20 other cars were had already checked in and had been waiting for extended periods of time. Not only did this FURTHER DELAY the waiting period for cars who were waiting 1.5hrs+ for their pickup orders but it also created chaos. Walmart needs to inform pickup associates NOT to actively engage in a discussion with customers especially when they are already so far behind on orders. It was disorganized, inefficient, chaotic and took over 40mins for a spot to become available then another 45 mins for our order to be fulfilled. read more

Nothing too outside the ordinary here. It's near an Aldi and Home Depot. The parking lots can seem a little wonky. Traffic isn't bad and drivers here seem calmer than normal. The store itself is fairly clean. When shopping, I often find discarded, open merchandise. So be careful and look at your packaging. read more

First time trying walmart+ grocery delivery. Scheduled time came and went. Got a text that my order was running a little. NEXT DAY i rescheduled And then called the problem. The phone was very professional and said he would investigate. SECOND DAY I CALLED AGAIN. Asked the rep to cancel my order and would I have the same problem at another store. He apologized gave me a credit and finally the order was canceled. I knew there was a reason I never went to this walmart. I ordered an item many years ago and they said they would have it for me the next day. Did not happen. So have not gone to this walmart in over 5 years. I just needed a reminder as to why I hadn't gone to a walmart in years. I will try the bolingbrook walmart for grocery delivery and hopefully this one is on the ball. I'm not physically able to leave my home much. I made it out yesterday to Darien, il Walmart yesterday. I was SHOCKED that 90 % of the employees seemed to be middle Eastern decent. I asked the gentleman at the door if they had mobility scooter available. He told me the opposite entryway. I told him I'd have great difficulty walking that far could he get it for me. He said, "no. I can't leave this door.". I asked if there's someone else that can get it. He said, no. I said but, there's a lot attendant right over there! No. I saw a cart by the wall just then. Looked like a thermous and lunchbox in basket. I asked him if he could remove his items so I could take it. He said it's broke. I leaned on my cart and made my way to service desk to do return. I then saw what appeared to be a manager and employee walking. I kept waving to flag them down. Manager came over, I explained all and how the man refused to help at all. She got a mobility cart for me. I did my return and made my way to get a couple of things. The more that I thought about everything and all the employees I came across, it hit me that the demographic seemed skewed toward one ethnicity, Middle Eastern. I know that a lot of middle easterners hate Americans due to Palestine and this regime administration. Was I denied help because I'm clearly Caucasian? I just called the auto care center 12 times on the 12th time they instantly put me on hold without saying a word to me. Then i got picked up in the clothing department for some reason that lady didnt listen to me at all and just hung up on me. Called the store because a bunch of groceries were left outside the building main entrance door. We are the building management. We picked up the groceries and called Walmart to find out who the groceries belong to. The first girl who answered the phone after I clearly read the last name kept telling me it is no longer in the system, I told her that is impossible, that I want to speak to a manager. The manager was great, gave me the information to contact the person the groceries go to. I also complained to the manager about the delivery person because the instructions on their end clearly stated to deliver the groceries to the unit door and they delivered it to the outside of the building. I also complained about the first girl not getting the information correct and trying to bush off the situation stating the information is no long in the system when the item was delivered only an hour ago. Employees have to help that is their job. It was not my job to go through all the trouble to find out who the groceries belong to, but I did and I expect the same of the employees who work at Walmart. Thank you to the manager who helped me resolved the situation and provide the correct information. I wish I would have received the managers name who was very professional. read more

WTF is going on in here?! I don't like self checkout registers because they cut out on jobs. The ONLY person available had an attitude because I expected her to help me with my transaction. This MANGER (as per my receipt) Jitender S. PURPOSELY scanned my items incorrectly... twice! Scanned items were not appearing in the customers assigned monitor... she expected me to look at HER register/monitor. She would scan my items, then walk away with them in hand. She was trying to distract me so she can over scan and over charge by failing to immediately add my purchases to my bag. Very disappointed as she is a MANAGER. From the second we walked in here it seemed like something was in the air. We walked past the auto section and there was a customer and employee getting into a loud heated argument that no one was trying to diffuse. Then we were walking by the groceries and a man loudly said excuse me and almost hit a lady with his cart without giving her time to move. When we went to check out that same man was in line behind us and the cashier said he had to go to the line over and the man started flipping out on the cashier so he decided to let him stay in line. As we are about to check out the man takes our cart and pushes it into my boyfriend and says something I don't even remember because I was so shocked. My boyfriend then says something along the lines of woah and he then yells at us until we are about 50ft away from him. I have never loaded my car so fast. Stay away from this Walmart. I don't know if it was the clientele or the employees but it was full of trashy people clearly. read more

Sorry to say, this place is too big for it's own good. I can't find what I am looking for and even the employees have difficulty locating items in their own store. This past weekend I was in to visit their optical department to look at their frames. The woman working was obviously stressing out because there were 4 people waiting and she was the only staffer they had working. The week before I was in the garden department and found the same situation, one person trying to service too many "lost" clients. Management needs to hire more staff and spend some time training them before they turn them loose into the store. read more

Consistently bad service. I recently went there and had to purchase over $700 worth of stuff and they wouldn't even open a manned checkout so I had to scan the whole order myself. Then the woman there CANCELLED MY WHOLE TRANSACTION "by accident" while ringing in my alcohol. This made me have to ring up the whole order again myself. Their never-ending quest to make your shopping experience even more miserable: They are now posting pushy salespeople in the aisles, trying to sell you crap you don't want. Today, I needed to pick up a couple quick items and the location was convenient (the only thing). As soon as I walked in some guy standing in the aisle, all smiling and cheerful: "How are ya' doooooin?" I told him in clear and unambiguous terms and moved on. He was selling something, I didn't linger to find out. Then, back in the store, there was ANOTHER ONE! A woman in the aisle in front of electronics hawking internet/cable TV service who I had managed to avoid. So I am standing at a counter off on the side, looking at a computer and she walks right up to me. "How are ya' doooooin?" I tell her whatever she is selling, I am not buying. Pause. "Do you have internet?" she responds unfazed and determined. This is what they are taught in Pushy Sleazy Salesman School: try to engage the mark. Regardless. Get them in conversation. Feel them out. She failed. At least with me. Unfortunately, too many shoppers there are Midwestern polite. They respond nicely. The hook is in. We need to stand up to them. Only then will they go away. And shame on Walmart for subjecting us to this harassment. Beyond all this, the place has gone overboard on self-checkouts. Dozens of them at both entrances now. Virtually no cashiers left. And BTW, that computer I was interested in: It wasn't working. It wasn't getting power. Welcome to the seventh circle of hell. It's been 2 nights since my attempt to shop here and I still can't shake the deafening sounds of babies screaming in every corner of the store. It was both terrifying and maddening. The parking lot is danger zone + sh*t hole with carts littered everywhere, mainly pressed up and scratching carts that were already parked here. The store is dirty, and I actually saw an older couple with many a facial piercing open up a package that had those blue-rubbery baby booger sucker things in it and use it on their wailing infant in the back of the store, before dropping it on the ground and walking away like it's a totally acceptable and appropriate thing to do. Also, I expect to be ignored a snooty Nieman Marcus or even a J. Crew, but the customers are actually worse. They'll stand in the middle of an aisle like they own it, and then when you try to inch your little self through they give you death stare like you should have to exit the aisle, go through one of the surrounding aisles and enter again on the opposite side as opposed to them just moving to one side so so traffic can get through. I had just one item in my hand as I approached the registers as the store was too disheveled to find much of anything else, but I decided to ditch the item and leave empty handed bc nothing was worth having to spend an extra 45 seconds in dante's inferno, er, Darien Walmart. read more

Okay wow I've been to so many Walmart's and this one was pretty bad. My husband came here to get his oil changed and we stood in the automotive section for a good five minutes before talking to someone. The cashiers were pretty nice however, which made the experience a little better. It seemed very unorganized and hectic. While we waited we went to the deli section to get some food. Everyone over there was super unfriendly, the popcorn chicken was way over cooked which was disappointing because I love me some Walmart popcorn chicken. We were looking for a specific item and the website said they had it available. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, first we asked the greeter who had greeted us at the door. He sent us to the wrong department so we had to find an employee and ask, they sent us to another wrong place. I finally spotted a woman who was helping a gentleman with some type of gizmo in her hand and said, "If we have it in the store, this will tell me." So, I thought she would check when I asked her, nope, she put it down and took us to an aisle with like - category items and told us we'd have to look. Good Walmart overall. I needed help in the fish department and the gentleman was super helpful. I also needed some fabric cut and they helped out also. Surprisingly for a late night Walmart run (11 pm) the store had plenty of employees walking around helping people. The location is good, right off of 75th and not too far from the highway. read more

I hate Walmart. It's WAY too packed in here. And it's so huge, it's hard to find anything in that mess! Plus, I hate how there are always a ton of people smoking cigarettes outside. Wow! That's all I can say about this location. It's really too bad because this is the only Wal-Mart within a 5 mile radius. You'd have to go to Bolingbrook or Countryside for anything closer and both of those are just as ghetto. Yeah I said it, ghetto. I've lived by this Wal-Mart for 9 years, have seen it as a regular store turned into a Super Walmart and it's only gotten worse. Customer service? Nah. Good selection with low prices? Really? Carts outside at 6am? The usual. I've gone to Chicago Walmarts that are better than this. Easter weekend was bad. Really really bad. I walked in expecting to get one item, get cash, and walk out. Should've been a 5 minute trip right? Instead I see absolute chaos. The self checkouts, which rarely ever work anyway, had 3 of their machines down. The regular registers? Only 4 of them were open. Let me repeat that: 4 REGISTERS WERE OPEN ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON AROUND 4PM ON ONE OF THE BUSIER SHOPPING DAYS OF THE YEAR!!!!! The crowds were becoming unruly to say the least. I stood in the ladies section and just watched people cussing and screaming. Then I walked out. But tonight was the last straw. Once again, I walked in to get one item. Once again 3 self checkouts were broken. When I got to one that was supposebly working, the computer wouldn't get past the first screen. Great. So I walk to the other side of the store to the express checkout and the lady ringing me up asked if I was using a card. Luckily I was and wasn't getting cash back, but her response baffled me. She had to take cards because she had no money in the cash register. WTH is she doing open???!!! Employees don't care. Store Management doesn't care. I doubt the District Manager cares. I doubt the Regional Manager cares. Could corporate care? I don't know. But I know that customers care. Ask the closing Ultra Foods down the street. If customers are saying that this Wal-Mart is not as bad as others, then Target and Meijer are looking good right about now. Get it together Darien Wal-Mart! read more
