Ok, I know what you are saying. I'm giving a Walmart 5 stars but I really had a 5 star experience (for a store like Walmart) at this location. It's spacious and full of light and the check out lady was so fun to talk to. I've been a little leery of visiting Walmart here because many of the ones I've been to in the past are dark and cramped and I can't really see or find anything. Total opposite experience here. It was easy to find things I wanted. I came here for their cat food that I feed the strays outside with and left with several things that I also needed for myself like Organic bananas and paper towels. Really huge produce section. The whole store is very clean and shiny. If you need or want to go to Walmart in the Asheville area, I highly recommend this one! read more

A quick stop for ice and restrooms, they had plenty of ice and a reasonable selection of bottled water cases in the appropriate section. We were able to pick up some snacks as well. Restrooms were dirty and not stocked. Both paper towel dispensers in the men's room were empty. And I learned from my daughter that both paper towel dispensers in the women's room were also empty. Not acceptable. Too many carts in the cart corrals in the parking lot. Too long a line at the self-checkout and only two other staffed registers. Definitely, could've been better. For weekend, it's busy all day. Most fresh red meat is stocked in morning and sold by evening. Order with options. Popular brands of wine (Oakleaf Chardonnay, among others) need double stock. No problem with beer, soda, bread. Diet-friendly snacks (Quest, some Atkins/Equate) are often sold out by mid-day during the week. Philadelphia Cream Cheese (esp. double pack) is often sold out, probably because we have a great bagel store nearby. Good place to get pet supplies, outdoor, toys, clothes, garden, and other items. No opinion on the pharmacy but there's never a long line. Parking lot is clean and there's always carts. All self-check out. Staff and management are great. read more

This walmart is like hell, especially if ur an employee, not a single manager or coach is there to train you or tell you what to do. Instead they get mad for their employees cause they didn't know what to do and they really have a problem with hiring people. You can see in my profile that it's VERY RARE for me to write a review, I've been a Yelp member for almost 10-years and I've only ever written a handful of negative reviews. Since moving here, my family have had some wonderful experiences with some local businesses, I had good intention to write some positive reviews and I TRULY don't like the fact that I haven't. In my mind you MUST be open-minded My point being, whether it's an individual or a business, you REALLY have to get under my skin before I will sacrifice 10-15 minutes of my precious life to actually sit down and write a review. But when I'm backed in to a corner to the point I finally write a review and have to waste time in my life, you better believe I'm gonna lay it all out on the table. We moved to the Asheville area 2-yrs ago and the Arden, NC Walmart is the store we use. I frequent this Walmart a couple of times a week and is our primary grocery store. My family and I have ALWAYS encountered low stock and/or out of stock at this Walmart EVERY trip (generally once a week), sometimes it's minimal (but noticeable) and other times it's like "you have got to be kidding me." I couldn't tell you how many times I've had to make a second stop at our local Ingles grocery store just to get an item Walmart was out of stock with. Yet, if I go to the Hendersonville Walmart or the closest Walmart in the City of Asheville and their shelves are stocked to the rim, the Hendersonville Walmart runs circles around the Arden Walmart, whoever the Hendersonville manager is they got their "A-Game" going because that store is awesome! However, with the Arden Walmart shelves often resembling the beaches of Normandy on D-Day What in the heck is going on at the Arden Walmart, if other stores can be fully stocked, that tells me it must be a management issue, why can other local stores stay stocked but the Arden Walmart can't??? This whole crap with Walmart not having "humans" available to check customers out is CRAP! Especially in the last month or two for some reason, darn near every time I go to Walmart there is a ridiculous line of people waiting for self-checkout. I'm going to say Walmart some money here so they don't have to pay for a research study, there are WAY TOO MANY people that don't have a fricking clue on how to use the self-checkout line. I was just there with my mother-in-law last week and she REFUSED to buy anything because she doesn't like and doesn't know how to use self-checkout; the screen, selections, scanning, etc. are just of enough of a stressor to her that her answer was to say "can we stop at Target on the way home." My daughter and I went in to the Arden store 3-days ago and both self-checkout lines packed; the east self-checkout had customers waiting 11-deep and the west self-checkout was 13-deep. There were quite a few unhappy customers that were using foul language with other unhappy customers that were in-line waiting, I can't fault them for being upset as I was also, they were just venting their frustrations. But, I was NOT about to subject our 6-yr old daughter to the foul language and negative attitudes, I left the merchandise I had and told my daughter that we were going to Target instead (only 2-miles from the Arden Walmart). On the way out I saw a manager and asked "what's going on, is there something special happening and that's the reason for the long lines? The managers response "I wish," that's it "I wish," no explanation, no apology, no nothing. I think that reply says it all about the Arden Walmart, I think we need to collectively buy a bunch of clues and drop them off at the Arden Walmart. That way, the next time customers are having to wait 10-15 minutes to checkout, all a manager/employee has to do is refer to the "Clue Box." read more

The past 3 times I have ended up leaving the walmart pick-up area and going home without my groceries. This past time I waited for 30 minutes and left and changed my date and time for the next day because I got tired of waiting. I am still waiting on my groceries as I'm writing this review. I pulled in the spot at 4:11 PM and it is now 5:14 PM and I still don't have my groceries. Then I was told that my cold products are being picked again and will be out so they are cold. If the store is understaffed then limit the spots allowed for grocery pick-up. read more

Oh. My. Heavens. I have never despised a store as much as I despise this Walmart. I have ordered a grocery pickup from here every week for the past two months, and most of the time, it's a complete nightmare. Spend all my time putting a grocery list together in the cart, pay for it, and the next available pickup is two days away. Okay fine. But this time, my pickup was between 1-2 on Monday. Well 2:00 Monday rolls around, no "order ready" notification. Instead, I get an email saying "sorry, we're really busy and your order is delayed." So Tuesday rolls around, and we've all but forgotten about the order altogether. At 8:54 pm, an email comes in saying the order is ready. Really? Because when I'm sitting on my couch at 9:00 in my pajamas, I really want to drive 30 minutes to Arden and pick up my LATE grocery order. There were absolutely no clear instructions on how to pick it up or check in, and they stop doing pickup at 8:00. So I try calling the main store. No one answered the phone in ANY department (trust me, I called them all). Okay fine, so I call the 800 customer service line, only to get someone with a really thick unclear accent who's breathing so hard into her microphone that it sounds like she's about to... well you get the picture. The call was all-for-not because during the call to customer service, we got another email saying they canceled the order. Perhaps my angry typing is any indication about how unbelievably frustrated I am with this store right now. This isn't the first let-down either. Out of 8 previous orders, maybe one of them has been fulfilled without any hiccups. So I have officially washed my hands of this place and will take my business elsewhere. Oh, by the way, the temporary bank hold they placed on my order will take 2-3 days to drop off before I have access to my own money again. So if you're checking out reviews, wondering whether you should give their grocery pickup a try? Save yourself the time and annoyance and just simply go elsewhere. On the flip side... I'm pretty confident that this Walmart in Arden is hiring if anyone is looking for employment. Also... I hate that this place has turned me into a Karen. read more

This is hands-down the worst store EVER!!!!!! For example my little old lady for a mother order a bunch of groceries to be delivered, they deliver the groceries to the wrong place($200 worth) then management management blamed it on my mother WTF??? And then try to defend the driver!!! Then the next day they said it was going to be early in the morning,NOPE!!! They forgot to order I think canceled it. And when I tried calling customer service they kept hanging up on me over and over and over again, Management is rude it doesn't give two shits about customers, and this place is deeply understaffed and everybody that works there either looks depressed or really high. read more

I ordered a 65" tv stand online. Was told I could bring it in outside of the box since I assembled it to return it. The customer service desk at Walmart refused to take the item and give me my refund. It should not be this hard to get my money back for an item that doesn't look like the pictures/ does not fit my tv despite saying it would. I'm now being told I have to take apart the entire tv stand before they're willing to accept it. The 65" tv stand that took 3 hours to put together. I'm mostly upset at the disrespect from the in store customer service and the lack of communication as well as being lied to. Genuinely just want my money back. This is a typical Walmart Super Center. It has clothes, food, drinks, snack, produce, meat, dairy etc. We came in specifically for some snacks and a few souvenirs. We found everything we needed, we didn't have any issues and the self check out lines moved very quickly. The parking lot was clean and we found a spot to park. A HUGE shout out to the eye center! I broke my frames and desperately needed a new frame for my lenses for a major presentation in front of cameras that I was doing in 4 days! In 10 minutes, they were able to find the only pair that would work. Ten minutes after that, they had the lenses popped and were fitting them for me. I was able to get in and out in under 30 minutes thanks to the help of a wonderful young lady and her male counterpart. THANK YOU!!! read more

Shit old man in electronics was beyond rude and started yelling at me about paying for 4 $0.26 pictures that say I can scan it at the register so like I always do I was gonna go scan them at the register when I check out all the rest of my groceries. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and have my 2 kids with me and I start walking away and instead of saying I'm sorry but you have to pay for the pictures here he yelled you have to pay for those here and I said it says I can scan them at the register and we are still shopping so I was just gonna do it all together and he was constantly yelling and then my husband stepped in and say that he doesn't have to be rude and he said well you have to pay back here for the pictures or you can't have them and the attitude he had the whole time my husband asked for a manager and he said he wasn't gonna do anything about getting one so I just gave him the pictures and said I don't want them anymore. So I handed them over (4 pictures) and we started leaving and at this point this was the 3rd interaction with this man and my husband was over his attitude and he yells across electronics do you want the pictures or not even after I said I don't want them anymore. We ended up talking to his Manager Beth and she apologized and said that it's not the 1st time and we are not the 1st customers to complain about this man so she will take care of it. We left Walmart after that and I'll get the pictures somewhere else later. I just can't believe this old as earth old man decided he needed to yell at anyone let alone a pregnant woman with a very visible heart monitor. Absolutely do not order delivery from them! I ordered two huge orders this week and neither was delivered! I received no emails or any notifications that there was a delay. No one answered the phone as I called for 4 hours!!! I chatted with customer service reps via the app and was promised it would be taken care of. 4 hours later I chatted again and was told it would have to be canceled and reordered tomorrow! And to top it off, it takes up to three days to get my money back!!! I wrote this post in anger but am still a little upset. Walmart did call me first thing this morning apologizing and is getting the delivery out to me ASAP. I just wish they would notify you if they can't get it delivered to you that day. read more

I'm not the biggest fan of Walmart but I did have a good experience here. I needed a few things for candy making and gifting and I thought they might have what I was looking for. I spent several minutes looking for malted milk and happened upon a lady stocking shelves in one of the aisles. I asked her if she knew where to find it and she did not. However! She did pull up the Walmart app and found out where it was, while kindly advising me with the app you can find what aisle anything is on. How handy! So she pointed me to where I needed to go. Next I hit up the candy making aisle and found the boxes and bags I needed along with nice tags for my boxes. The boxes I found were versatile, being able to use them for cupcakes (with included inserts) or for candies, goodies of all sorts. I gave 3 stars because the bathrooms had not been checked on in a while and were pretty disturbing. read more

I don't normally leave bad reviews. I know times are hard, but this just really left me speechless. I'm definitely not a "Karen" and always try to be understanding. In my job I go above and beyond customer service wise. I needed a replacement for the base or the legs of my artificial tree . After looking through the garden section where artificial trees are located, and through the Christmas aisles , I saw nothing. Thinking I might have overlooked it I asked a gentleman if he could help me find it. He said it'd be in the garden section. I told him I'd already looked there but I'd try again. After no luck , again, I told him I'd driven 30 minutes just to come to this WalMart and could he possibly use his scanner ( that many a wonderful employee has used to help me find what I needed) or just find someone to see if I'd overlooked it. His response was " If I do that, it's just going to tell me it's over there" ... I pride myself on customer service and was floored. We're all dealing with stuff , but this is ridiculous. Train your employees better. I can't say I won't come to this store again because I don't have a choice but next time I hope I have a better experience. I'm reminded each time I rarely come into Wal-Mart as to why I do not regularly shop at Wal-Mart. Worst customer service ever. Only 2 checkout lanes open in the middle of the day and no attempt to open more with customers 6-8 people deep in line. Ordered on the Walmart grocery app to pick up at 2:00 pm New Year's Eve. At 12:30 pm that day I opened the app to see if I could add an item. The app referenced my reservation time and indicated it had expired. Since it wasn't 2:00 Pm I though there must be an error. I've been ordering thru the app and picking up at this store for the past 3 months about every other week. I received a weird message once before but when I went by the store my order was ready. However, As it's New Year's Eve I thought it was best that I call. I have been on hold with different parties at this Walmart for 50 minutes now. A "manager" just came on and told me he was working the register, could not help me with pick up and would page someone from pick up. I tried to explain that they had already tried that but he had put me on hold without any further conversation. I have loved this service up until now. So just be warned if u have any issue re a pick up u may not be able to reach anyone to assist you. They act as if their pick up service is independent from the store which it may be. I am not familiar with the inner workings of Walmart. This defeats the convenience for me so I will look elsewhere. read more

I am 70 years old and live in a 3rd floor condo. I trade with this Walmart every week. I purchased a watermelon today. When I got home with it I discovered it was pink inside. (Not ripe) I took pictures to prove it was pink. I called customer service and talked with a VERY rude associate. I asked if I could bring in my receipt and a picture. He insisted I bring the whole thing back in for a refund. I asked if I could just bring half, he said no. When I took the 2 halves back into the store and laid them on the counter, I took one half out of the bag and he ordered me to put it back in the bag. I wanted to prove I was telling the truth. He was very rude. I told him to give me a refund and that I would go down the road to Ingles where they guaranteed me if it was bad they would replace with just a phone call and a receipt. Yes I had to pay more and it's worth it not to have to deal with Walmart and their crappy customer service!! I didn't mention that I have a bad back and am a breast cancer survivor!! Unfortunately I have to give this Walmart 1 star because they're always short staffed. Never enough registers open, and staff looks miserable. Management force people to wait in line for the self check out instead of hiring more cashiers. Very big and lots of products but what's the point the more you buy the longer you have to wait in line. It's terrible that they have over 20 registers and only open 2-3. Staff is meh. Walmart behind Carolina theater is properly staffed and you'll never wait in line also staff has a good vibe there. Grocery manager does a very poor job of making sure that the shelves stay stocked, maybe less associates outside the store smoking, and more inside working could help. Not a one time issue, happens every time I go there, almost never any Gatorade or Powerade in the shelves, very exhausting to have to go to multiple stores while grocery shopping to get what's needed for the upcoming week. read more

Without a doubt some of the poorest customer service I have ever experienced. I went into the Walmart Supercenter on Airport Road tonight around 7PM. My mother (87 and using a walker) went through the outdoor section. After looking at a few plants, my mom said she was too tired to continue walking, so I went into the store to get the one item we needed. I came back to the cashier in the outdoor area and she was just finishing up with a customer. I noticed a "closed" sign was out so I asked her to be sure she was closing....note, she could see I had only the one item and that my mother was sitting on her walker near by. She said she was closed. I then left my mom in the area and went into the main store. There were not many cahiers open and those that were had very long lines. I waited for just a bit before deciding to come back another day. As I walked back through the outdoor section, the same cashier was assisting other customers. I thought are you kidding....I said excuse me, I thought you told me you were closing. She said she had just briefly. I can't believe one, she didn't take me since I was the only other customer in the area before going on break or two, she didn't say if you'd like to wait, I'll be right back. I left the store very upset. So leaving the parking lot I decided to call and talk to the Manager. Having been a manager before, I know you can't fix what you are not aware of. Once the phone was answered, I asked to talk to the Manager on Duty. Was immediately put on hold. Note, I got all of the way back home in Mills River and the Manager never picked up. I called back and was told that only an Assistant Manger was in the store and she was busy with a truck. I asked if I could leave a message and the person said they didn't know. You don't know if I can leave a message? She said she was the only person working in customer service and she didn't have any message pads and hung up on me. Unbelievable!! read more
