Centrally located, perfect if you need to pick something up quick. Good enough selection. I do wish they had fresh produce here as it would be even more convenient. Decently priced items. More self check out than checkout lanes but there are always staff around of you need help. Can be a bit messy here but most Walmart are. return policy is terrible. Management needs to change. They are not flexible and their policy is the worst. I don't recommend anybody buying anything at Walmart. I have been denied returns for years because of not having a receipt for the smallest items every time you try to return you get a denial and have to wait 180 days and your name never gets cleared. I recommend people shop anywhere about Walmart. They need to close down Walmart and Southington. They are the worst. read more

Not bad for a quick errand to get new headlamp bulbs. Was relatively neat and I didn't have to wait long for a self check out kiosk. Clerk was quick to assist in removing the antitheft box surrounding the bulbs. read more

Today my fiancé and I went in to purchase a phone, there was no one working in electronics so my fiancé asked an employee walking by for help her name was Amanda. Amanda right off bat was rude aggressive and completely unprofessional to the point where my fiancé asked what he did wrong to her and she replied "nothing" sorry we asked you to do your job Amanda and either please help us or call someone over to electronics so they could help us instead. maybe take a few personal days because that behavior is absolutely unacceptable. read more

I came here looking for those orange and black "For Sale" signs that you can post on cars etc., I was able to locate these and this made me happy. While here I was also able to find some really healthy looking plants that are sold during the Easter season. Daffodils, tulips etc., These were fairly priced. Inside is a bit of an odd layout. It's also somewhat run down. The register lines can get backed up. Parking is an issue as it shares the lot with many other stores. I guess it's an average Walmart. read more

I couldn't get on the Walmart app. It kept saying wrong account. It was supposed to be ready between 1-2 pm. It's 2:30 and they are still not here! I'd like to leave a review for an older Woman called Janice. horrible, abysmal, snotty woman. Me and my mom were there and ONLY I asked her where the pepper spray was, she widened her eyes as if I said the most shocking thing ever when LITERALLY ALL I ASKED WAS WHERE THE PEPPER SPRAY WAS. I don't think it's that shocking of a question I'm a woman and I need to protect myself. And thats not all I WAS THE ONE WHO ASKED HER and she looked at MY MOTHER the whole time she was answering and didn't even look at me. noted that my mother DIDNT SAY ANYTHING TO HER. Not a word she didn't even treat me like a human enough to talk to me. horrible, horrible experience. please talk to her or something, I don't care if she didn't like me or something at least treat me like a customer and not like I'm not even there. When I shop at Walmart, normally I just run in to get supplies and leave. For this location though I couldn't help but notice that for a Walmart this place is expensive. Compared to the closest Target, prices are higher here, and that is not what I was expecting. I ended up buying from their store brand equate, so it worked out ok. The multivitamin, nutrition shelves were not well stocked either- if you're looking for something in this category, I would consider calling ahead and checking. Clothes are well stocked, and the variety was surprisingly good. Staff was friendly, and store was clean. Parking lot was large, and they seem to have seeds and spring materials out now. read more

I drove all the way there and was excited about printing out photos. When I got there, there was something wrong with the photo computers. I asked for help. The woman tried to help me but said she "didn't really know. ". Shouldn't they have someone back there who knows what they are doing?! Never again! I don't normally shop Walmart as Target is my go to place for random shopping. Last week I had to get my prescriptions filled and Walgreens no longer accepts my insurance, so I gave Walmart a chance. I went during lunch hour and the pharmacy techs were nice enough to rapidly fill my order so I didn't have to wait until after 1:30PM. They close between noon and 1:30 for lunch. If your coverage is like mine check out their $4 prescription medication list. I was paying $20 for a cream at Walgreens and I only had to pay $4 here. I checked out the store and didn't think their prices were all that great. The items that were cheap were sugar non branded snacks. read more

Having shopped at several different Walmarts and calling on them professionally for several years, it's apparent that the Southington store enjoys a superior atmosphere that translates to a generally more cooperative operation. I've never been treated poorly in the Southington store, but I've been totally ignored more than once in some other locations. The store constantly cooperates with various civic and charitable groups as well, and for me, that matters. read more

We go to Walmart for the convenience and low prices. We suffer through everything else. I've gone to this Walmart for well over ten years. Its service is uneven all around. We went to return a pair of shoes chafing my roommate's ankles the next day, without receipt. Now, Walmart has a policy where a couple of times a year if you have something without receipt, they take it as long as the item doesn't look to be damaged. These shoes were worn one day, had a scuffmark on the front- a scuffmark (he'd worn them to work), and they wouldn't take them back at first, saying they were used. Fortunately he could prove he'd bought them the day before as he'd used debit card. The lines are long often because they do not have enough cashiers working. We'd been waiting about ten to fifteen minutes in line one day even though it was only about five people deep. What really miffed my sister one day is that they opened up a new line and the cashier decided to invite the person at the end of the line to come over when she'd been waiting longer. She was so irritated she left the store- left her cart right there. Cleanliness is sometimes an issue- and not always from customers. Sometimes merchandise overflows from shelves or is crammed in. So yes. We go for the low prices. We deal with everything else. read more

NEVER GO TO THE PHOTO CENTER. They treated me and my fiance like crap when we did our engagement photo printing there. You know if I want nice prints I won't go to walmart... but I needed 58 pics for cards i was making to announce our engagement. If it was a few I'd do it at home on my photo printer. Nonetheless, I went to Walmart. I sent the photos in online- by uploading them from my computer to the internet and order prints from there. *MIND YOU: my Uncle and my mother took the photos at Hamonnasset beach on 4th of July* Mark and I walked over to the photo center and said there was a problem with the photos i sent online. This 20 year old girl who looked like she was on crack pulled the photos out and said "yeah, to me, they look copyrighted, you need a release of copyright." Excuse me, but how can I do that if the photos weren't taken by a studio??? I said to her "These photos were taken by my mother and uncle at the beach." and she came back with "the lightings too perfect." I said, and by this time I was yelling "I TOOK PROFESSIONAL CLASSES AT THE HARTFORD ART SCHOOL AND MY PHOTOGRAPHY HAS BEEN IN NUMEROUS SHOWS ACROSS THE US." She then gets scared and calls her manager over, who i swear must be the queen o bitches in the world. this girl "Rochelle" was so nasty and rude that the devil's mistress would get sick. She said we had to get the computer or camera these are on to see if they are real. Now how dumb is that- cause with today's technology I can scan and edit any photo whether it be professional or not, and with a certain adapter I can put it back onto the camera's SD card, so there are ways around it. But anyways, I said "It is back in Higganum, you expect me to drive 40 minutes all the way there and waste $40 worth of gas for $50 worth of photos??? I expect them to be free if I prove you wrong." Cause she was wrong, and its bullshit- THE PHOTOS WERE ON A BEACH WITH BAD HAIR AND HAWAIIAN SHIRTS. Its the pics I have under my engagement photos section. She said there's "no way in Hell you'll get the refund." By this time (and a long time of arguing all the cash registers and customers were stopped and staring, hope they lose business). The photos were shredded. The next day Mark calls the manager. He said he'd call him back after he talked w/ Rochelle at around 1pm. He never called so around 2pm Mark stormed into Walmart- and the manager was too chicken schit to come out of his office. He talked to Mark from his office to Mark at the customer service desk. Mark basically got him to agree that if we brought in a CD with the photos on that we could get our whole order for FREE! So, I got a disk of the pics and dropped it off. This ditzy old hag was at the photo center today. She knew who we were- and what the managers agreed to. HOWEVER- she gave us a hard time because we brought in a CD and not the Camera they were on. I was like HELL NO LADY, the managers said CD. She got all nasty (is that all that work there- nasty bitches?) and said "Well next time I WONT develop your photos." HOW RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS. I said, well excuse me thats what we were told. So she gave us the disk and said put it in the machine and do it there. So I ordered this thing called the Family Package, it had a few of each size photos and i had no idea what it consisted of. So Mark asked the lady what does it come with? She said "We dont sell that here." I said "Are u kidding me, I ordered it online." She said we have no such product, you musnt have went to walmart." BULL CRAP LADY WE ORDERED THEM AND WE ORDERED A FAMILY PACKAGE ONLINE. She said well, do what you remember. So I got a little of this and that and let me tell u got my moneys worth. She then told us next time save the SD disks and bring them to do the pictures- so I said we have to wait and go to the closest Walmart (Southington, Saybrook and Cromwell, all 40 min way) and use up the SD card- what if we need to use the card and there is no room left? she said THERE ARE PLENTY OF WALMARTS IN HADDAM. UM I SAID LADY THERE ARE NO WALMARTS ANYWHERES NEAR HADDAM. She looked at me with a blank stare. So I had to make sure they credited me the money back for my photos WHICH THEY ORIGINALLY SHREDDED. GUESS WHAT! They still charged me. So I had to go allllllll the way back to Walmart for them to credit my card back. SO If I didnt go back, I would have been charged regardless of whether i received the photos. To top the icing on the cake- we took the photos out- one had red blotches all over it from the paper being exposed to light before---- had to go all the way back and get it redone. But they gave us 4 :) how nice huh lol. read more

By far the worse walmart I have ever been to. If you don't have a receipt don't even bother trying to return something. They do not follow actual Walmart policies. They make up there own policies. When you ask to see the policy they have nothing to show you. Charles in customer service was beyond rude. He had a smirk on his face the whole time, like he really enjoyed pissing people off. He was very arrogant and had no manners at all. I asked to speak to a manager. He called up an assistant manager Peter who actually had to ask Charles what the policy is. Which makes no sense. When I brought it up, Charles snapped at me " This is my department and I know these things more than the manager." So than peter took my item and said he was going to talk to the actual manger. The actual manager never came up to talk to me, never gave me the time of day. Peter came back and gave me no explanation as to why the manager said they couldn't take back my return. It makes no sense, I've seen people bring back used litter scoopers with no problem at all. I've been shopping at Walmart for years, but will be doing my shopping at Target or Amazon from now on. I will tell everyone I know how horrible this store is. read more

Ok so YELP decided to remove my review of this store (from 4 years ago) because someone reported it and felt it was not guideline appropriate. So here is my very real PC opinion of this store.....its stinks! I do not find this place clean like some of the other reviewers and the staff is rude and cannot be bothered looking at you and talk to each other when you are paying, the clothes and shoes are cheaply made and wear out easily (especially shoes) and it is not my cup of tea to shop here. You can get some discounted snacks, make up and DVD's but that does not take away from the fact that I can hardly deal with looking through the disheveled items for more than 5 minutes. Maybe I would come back in a pinch but otherwise I stay far AWAY! read more

MAKE SURE YOU OPEN AND CHECK All ElECTRONICS FROM SOUTHINGTON WALMART BEFORE YOU LEAVE WITH IT!!! Purchased a laptop. Got home the laptop was broken. It was missing a key and was dusty and dirty. We brought it back to the store about a hour after purchasing. The manager comes over and asks very loudly who the owner of the laptop was my husband and I said we just purchased it about a hour ago. He then says that the laptop doesn't match the box. He then says that we took our old laptop and put it in the box we just purchased and wear trying to return it. The whole time he was talking to us he treated us like we wear crackhead thiefs. He was loud and kept insisting that we are trying to rip off Walmart. So my husband called the police because we now had a broken laptop and a manager accusing us of stealing. We wear out over 200 dollars. So we wanted a police report. The 2 Southington police officers treated us with respect and was very helpful and giving us advice on what we should do next. So after we left the store for the 2nd time . We decided to try and turn the laptop on. Mind you we repeatedly Asked the Store Manager to turn on the laptop to find out whose it was. When the laptop turned on the login name was Walmart. We then called Walmart corporate explain to them what happened. They then said to call back the Walmart store in the morning and ask for the manager and give them our names. So we did . The manager explained to us that the laptop that was in the box that we purchased was there old display model and that the laptop that belongs in the box was on there display shelf. The manager then stated we can bring the laptop back for money or exchange it for a new one. We went and got our money back. At no time did any Walmart employee apologize for not only the inconvenience but for the embarrassment they put my husband and I threw the night before at their store. The Walmart manger accused us of stealing. He was extremely loud and obnoxious about it and he was wrong but yet we still didn't even get an apology. We have learned our lesson and will never buy any electronics from another Walmart let alone step a foot into the Southington Walmart. read more

My girlfriend had checks stolen from her car today when she was inside this WalMart. She thought she had locked her car and obviously didn't. But WalMart should have security monitoring the parking lot especially during the holiday season. I'm sure this is not the first time this has occurred. read more

This Walmart is the worst ever, The sales associates seemed nice, especially a lady who workedi n the garden dept, she went out of her way to help me, The problem I had was with a assistant manager .I asked for his name he refused to give it to me. All I wanted is to return a item I purchased, and he said he promised it would be assembled one week prior, then I brought the grill home, and pieces came off, I just wanted to return it. he was so very rude, not only to me, to the sales people, after he left I asked a associate his name, she said Matt, I will never forget that day, because after that ,I was shopping 2 day' later and I witness him berate a young sales girl, he was a real tyrant, Is that how walmart allows, the workers to be talked to. I never in my life heard such disrespect to another human being WALMART, treat your employes better, shame on you. I will never go back again. read more
