This adorable independent pharmacy is in my neighborhood and it is absolutely a throwback to…read moreneighborhood drug stores from the 50's and 60's that's friendly, warm and inviting. It's definetly not anything like the big chain stores and doesn't have 4 rows of Halloween costumes and Christmas trees but rather there's a full sevice pharmacy with very knowledgeable people who always go above and beyond to not only inform and guide you through your medical and health concerns but will work with the doctors and hospitals diligently to get things done right. Unlike your big chain pharmacies this is like the Cheers of drug stores where everybody actually knows your name, Stacy and her staff make this a real deal drug store. As if that weren't enough reasons to make this a favorite they have a real old fashion soda fountain that's very cool! Floats, malts, ice cream sodas, sundaes, banana splits and more with a smilng friendly staff that make you feel right at home. I used to be a regular at a place just like this growing up at the Rexall drug store in my hometown back in the 60's. It was next door to the YMCA, where I spent a LOT of time, and what's better than a malt after spending hours swimming? I'm lovin' it! Inside you can also find personal care items, greeting cards, candles, jewelry and even t-shirts, cool. While it's fantastic for locals, even with a drive thru, they are excellent for visitors and vacationers who can't get any help from CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. because like I said these folks will go above and beyond to help you get the necessary communication with doctors and pharmacies from anywhere. That's a really big deal. Unfortunately they have closed the soda fountain still since Covid but the good news is that they offer vaccines Mon-Fri 10am-4pm with I waiting, no lines and very friendly personal service. Open M-F 9-6 & Sat 9-1. Bottle line: It may not be a megastore, it may look like a small town establishment but this place is a modern day powerhouse of a drug store and we need more like this. Highly recommended!!! https://www.gulfshoresrx.com/

They went way above anything I could have imagined, and they did it with great kindness. As an added perk, the shop is adorable and has an antique soda fountain inside! If you live in the area, why would you go anywhere else?

CVS wrote the prescription for one pill a day. Someone pick the prescription up for me. When I read the prescription I was in disbelief. The next morning I called my doctor verified the prescription and called the pharmacist. They insist that they wrote it out right and I was wrong. I asked them to please review the prescription and they placed me on hold to which of course I was disconnected. I called back was placed on hold for quite a bit of time. They came back said yes the The prescription did read what I said. Never admitting their fault. But they told me I couldn't get the rest of the prescription until the 17th. I am now going out of town and trying to get the rest of my prescription. I spoke with my insurance and they gave me an 800 number for CVS to call and they will give them a vacation override no problem. CVS said they cannot call! I called that 800 number they said they will have no problem with approving it. I called CVS again and they said they can't approve it because in the state of Alabama this drug is a controlled substance a class five controlled substance which applies to cough medicine and stuff. So now they insist they have to call the Alabama state board to get approval from them to give me pills that I've already paid for which by the way I can get in just a few days but unfortunately I'm leaving before the 17th. I have never ever seen a pharmacy that was not willing to immediately rectify their error!!!!! It is unbelievable their attitude and their unwillingness to help me they will not even try. I informed the 800 number that they have to call about all the stuff in the Alabama controlled substance law and they said they have no problem approving it they have the authorization. I am so flustered and in disbelief that the pharmacy does not have their patrons best interest! Never again!

There's not a big sign for this place and it's kinda tucked back into this small strip mall on the south side of Hwy 59 before the Gulf Shores motors (wolith all the classic cars) and the Canal bridge. It's easy to miss because I have blown right past the Gulf Shores Diner which is more prominant that them, and I have been there a dozen times. But if you are careful and watchful you'll see the little cut out to allow you to jump out away from all the crazies flying down 59 without getting run over. No access from north bound side. Anyway once you get there you'll find ample parking right out and once inside you'll be rewarded by the small town charm of a lovely boutique style gift shop and a full service independent pharmacy which unfortunately is becoming increasingly more and more rare. I mean my experiences at the drug stores for years is 3 to 5 cars deep and double lines outside and a long tedious line inside with either slow and detached or exhausted and frenzied staff. The atmosphere at this place was very relaxed and very friendly. They actually welcomed and chatted me up with warm smiles, nice change of pace. I just needed some aspirins and tums for the medicine cabinet and happy to patron this adoreable local business. I will look into moving some of my business here in the future but they are lean on most of their OTC items but have some cool gift items.

I really like my local Publix, and actually created its Yelp page with a glowing review. It's…read morestill a great shop for groceries, meats, and especially the bakery. They will bake up sugar-free items or other requests every day if you just call them in the early morning, that's a service not available at most grocers. But, I'm writing the review to talk about their custom sandwiches that we really love. First off, they use Boars Head meats, which are great, but there's a store brand option. Boars Head has long been my choice for grocery and gourmet deli meat because their a 5th generation US company that makes good tasting stuff with lots of options. (review for this company is in my drafts :-) Secondly the Finally the outstanding app that lets you custom half or full sub on white, whole grain or on flat bread either cold, pressed or toasted with a choice of 7 cheeses, 20 toppings or extras and 9 sauces. You can also make it a combo with a big selection of chips and drinks and here's a cool convenient feature, build it, pay for it, choose the time (usually with 30-45 minutes), then just walk over to the deli, pick it up and you're in and out on your way. You can choose to pay for it at the store but then you have to fac lines and time, whatever works. Of course you can also have them make one or more of these sandwich treats while you're in the store. (I have done that before and they made my sandwich while I showed, cool!) My favorite is "The Ultimate" and my sweetheart's is the low sodium "Turkey". Bottom line: If you have doubts go to one of their south Florida during lunchtime and you will find locals dutifully waiting in line for one of their freshly made Boars Head subs. Try it, you might just find your new fave sandwich. Did I mention you can add bacon? LOL
