I spoke with my doctor and he sent a different prescription. The Pharmacy that my doctor sent my prescription to did not have it. I called around and found "Accokeek Drug and Health Care Inc". I asked my doctor to send the prescription to them. I did not realized that they were closed Sunday. On Monday morning (May 6th) my father called to check the status on my prescription (NOTE: He was going to pick it up for me because I can't drive due to my surgery). The pharmacist said I would have to wait until May 9th for him to fill the prescription. I called my health insurance company because I thought that may have been the issue. The insurance company called the pharmacy and patch me in with the pharmacist. The pharmacist (I believe his name was Mark or Mike) said he was not comfortable filling my prescription because he noticed that I had a prescription filled on Friday. I advised him that I did and the medicine was not working; that's why the doctor prescribed something else. He then asked "where is that medicine at" and I told him I have it here with me at home. The pharmacist said in order to fill the new prescription. I will need to bring him my old prescription (the medicine) NOTE: I did not purchase this prescription from this pharmacy. I was puzzled. I felt as though he was trying to say I'm addicted or misusing my prescription. I have NEVER use drugs. I have never felt so insulted and disrespected my entire life. Luckily my doctor was able to send it to a reliable pharmacy. It is very dangerous when the pharmacist wants to play doctor. I will never send my prescriptions or refer this pharmacy to anyone! The pharmacy is tucked into the corner all the way to the right after you enter; it's near the fruits and breads. I tried to prevent this by informing Cary to send my scripts to capsule pharmacy on last Wednesday, but they did not. I did not find out that Cary was closing until a day before, so I found CAPSULE pharmacy that same day. Come to find out my scripts haven't even been sent to KALORAMA according to the person I spoke to. I had a negative experience with these people years ago so this is the last place I wanted my scripts to go. They have not changed.

Also behind my favorite physical therapist, chiropractor and massage therapist, Chiro 1st. The office is nice and modern, well appointed and decorated. The waiting area is a private room away from the front door, which is a nice touch. I waited an entire two minutes before being seen by the doctor. He's very upbeat, patient and thoughtful. Also has a sense of humor which is important to me. His staff is also very friendly but all business too. You can pay you copay online the day before your appointment and it's very easy. That is cool. Lots of paper work and it was just easier to print out and use a device called a "pen" to write by hand the answers to the questions they asked. You can also answer some online but he will refer to what you write on your first visit. So that is a good time to convey what you want him to know. You may not remember everything when consulting with him. I hope I don't have to see a lot of this doctor in the future but if you're in the market for a general surgeon, this is worth checking out. Dr. Balfour is a careful, practiced pediatrician with years of experience and the old-school style that goes along with it. Dr. Balfour may be considered too cautious by some, and make no mistakes, he will order tests for just about everything, but he is genuinely concerned about the health and well being of his patients. His cautiousness most likely stems from the fact that he got his MD in 1950s Argentina where he had much more to worry about than sniffles and strep throat. Dr. Balfour runs a very efficient office, and I have never had to wait longer than a few minutes. He also has separate waiting rooms for contaigious patients and patients that are just there for a checkup or diagnostic, which is such a good idea that it makes me wonder why it is not standard practice in every doctor's office. My only bad experience with him involved him refusing to sign a permission slip to participate in a scuba diving class at Montgomery College when he asked if I enjoyed a certain plant of dubious legal standing, but like I said, he is old school.
