As a result, prescriptions filled at McCullough's often cost significantly less than they would if they were filled at, say, Walgreens. Whereas other pharmacies serve essentially as medication dispensaries, the pharmacists at McCullough's are true partners in care. When insurance denies coverage or requires preauthorization, McCullough's goes to bat for us as advocates, and they are usually successful. In the three years in which I have been a customer, they have come to know me and my family on a level that one would expect of doctors. I strongly recommend choosing them as your pharmacy. I told them that my current prescription was at my old Walgreens more than 2 hours away and I would not get there in time before they closed. I also made them aware that I would be getting very sick without my meds and because my meds were a partial fill, (my old pharmacy didn't have many in stock) that they couldn't or wouldn't help me. I even asked if they could give me just enough medicine to hold me over until I could make the 4 hour round trip drive to get another script and then transfer it to them. They told me they would not. I am shocked that they were so unhelpful especially when COVID is still rampant. Very disappointed with this pharmacy. A similar situation has happened to me previously and two other pharmacies were more helpful than this place. I'm not sure if I will be going to the Walgreens in Lake Geneva

I have actually never left a review before, but after yesterday and today I am so upset with the…read moreway Walgreens in Elkhorn handled my husband's prescription, I feel I must say something. My husband had a major surgery and was prescribed a controlled substance for post op pain. I was told by the discharge nurse (this is my own fault for not double checking the RX/paperwork) that he should take his meds every 6 hours. I was making sure he did this so that his pain would stay under control. So the problem was the RX read that he was supposed to take them every 8 hours instead of 6. I asked his surgeon to send in another RX and I went to pick it up. After waiting in line for 20 minutes at the drive thru-I was told that there was a problem with my insurance (which I did not understand) but the employee at the drive thru stated that it would be ready in 10 minutes regardless. I said great...no rush...I'll just run to the grocery store and come back to get it. When I got back...I was told that it was too early to fill it which I did not understand seeing I thought it was every 6 hours. I was like...why didn't you tell me when I was here before. I will admit I was probably a bit snippy. I said that I realize that they are very busy but everyone's time is valuable. He had also told me that it was the pharmacist discretion whether it be filled early or not. (Which most pharmacies will fill a controlled substance 2 days early if needed.) At this point (it would have been 3 days early and he still had some) I left and had my husband call the next day to see if I could pick it up on my way home from work (for one, a snow storm was coming the next day) and he will be out by the 10th day due to (I admit my fault for the misunderstanding and I had told them about it) to run out before and the answer was no...by law we can't pick it up until the 10 days. So with that being said, I feel really bad that my husband will be in pain and after I pick up that prescription...I will never go to another Walgreens again...
