Decent Walmart. Been to multiple Walmart locations over the years in multiple states, so when I don't call one terrible or give it one star, it's not a bad thing at all - it actually makes it more of a standout since so many are usually horrid. This one is average - meaning the stock was there, it was clean, and there were no negative interactions with subpar employees or weird Walmart customers. Came here to look at a few specific things, so I didn't go through the entire store. If you've been to one Walmart you've basically been to them all as far as layout and such. I had no employee interactions, which is fine by me. It was a Friday afternoon, so while it was busy it wasn't overly crowded as far as customers went - also fine by me. Parking lot is decent with enough space options. If you want peace of mind and don't mind walking a few extra feet, you'll be okay with some of the farther spots. Again, compared to most other Walmarts, this one is decent and one I'd attempt to go to again if I'm in the area. Trust me, there are too many far worse locations out there - so when there's a decent one, it's a good thing. read more

This is an average sized Walmart that sells the usual merchandise (we all know by now) plus a decent sized Grocery section. And a Sales Associates Team that seem to be friendly and helpful for the most part. Some of this store's best features include: Nice Electronics Department, Pet Supplies, Housewares, Paint & Wallpaper, Lawn & Garden Center, Hunting & Fishing, Seasonal Holiday and Automotive Departments are all pretty well stocked.     This store has a Pharmacy Department, an Eyewear Center, and a Photo Lab Department.   Normal Business Hours are; 7am until 10pm Daily. read more

Walmart - Broken Cart - Department Stores Near Me - Newton, New Jersey

I'm a disabled person with limited actions. When I came into the store to do an even exchange, the customer service line was 8 people long. The poor girl was trying so hard to move as quickly as she could and you could hear it in her voice that she was on the edge. Not ONE person in management came to help this girl. I ended up standing fir over ten minutes, and that's including with those that gave up. Because of this wait, I had to rush to their Dunkin' Donuts section and collapsed on a chair, otherwise I would have done so on the floor. Not all disabled people use those scooters, some of us knows our limit, but this store isn't friendly to those disabled folks. read more

Terrible!! A woman wasn't wearing a mask and the workers weren't telling her to put it on. I have cancer so I told her to wear her mask. Her husband started coughing on me and a worker told me I can't tell people to put their masks on. They weren't enforcing it so I'm going to get sick because they're breaking the law? I told him I'd call the police and he said if I did he'd throw me out the store! And that masks were only mandated to be worn by the employees. This has to be the most dysfunctional walmart in the the county. The pharmacy team can never fill a proscription without wasting your time. Communication is a concept that is alien to them. It took me 2 1/2 hours to fill a prescription that was called in from my daughters pedestrian. After I stud in line 3 times in the course of time, I was finally told that they didn't have the antibiotic in stock. And so a they have to call the dr. This morning I went in to get a new charger for my fitbit. I wanted to avoid looking in store, and when I went on the website to check if it was in stock, nothing came up when I searched "fitbit charger." So then, I called the store. Upon talking to the lady in customer service, I was transferred to lawn & garden after waiting about 5 minutes for someone to pick up. Then I hung up and re-dialed. I followed the prompts to be transferred to electronics, and waited about 20 minutes on the phone for somebody to pick up. At this point, I was already fed up, so I went to walmart and went into the store. When I got to electronics, somebody was STANDING RIGHT THERE while the phone was ringing and ringing and ringing. Oh, and guess what? They had the charger in stock. I am extremely upset because something that could have taken me 5 minutes would up taking about a half hour- all over one item. This isn't the first unpleasant experience I've had during this store, but this is the first one i felt strongly enough to write about. read more

The Walmart in Newton,NJ had dwindled. It's horrible now. Every single time i go i cannot buy most of what's on my list. It's not worth the stress and BS anymore. I'd rather pay more to a store whose shelves are not empty and bare! The last two times i went I couldn't buy so many things. LYSOL was only 1 item!! I absolutely hate the Walmart in Newton now. After the last 6 times i we nt shopping there and could not buy things on my list I'd rather pay more at Shoprite a d Petsmart than go through this crap again. I get that Walmart is equal opportunity. However, perhaps you should at least invest in higher IQ management? I agree with the MOST DYSFUNCTIONAL Walmart in the country. And damn, that's pretty hard to accomplish considering its... WALMART! I get ticked off almost every single time I go there. Honestly, I expect the Walmart consumers. It wouldn't be Walmart without folks with missing teeth or the local rednecks. However, to wait on lines and spend 20 minutes checking out even when the store is dead? That's just BS and no excuse! Your employees spend more time talking to each other and hiding in the back to avoid being called to register than anything else! Just a shame there is no other alternatives in Newton. This is a smaller Walmart and was pretty bad. The store has improved 100% over the last two years. In general the shelves are fully stocked and priced marked. A lot of new selections in the food department. Plenty of cashiers and staff on the sales floor. . read more

I am appalled at the comments. Not everyone has an advanced graduate degree and many of the "less" educated could teach you a thing or two. I have learned so much from those who have less education than I do. Everyone is important in their own right. Walmart as a company is a complete and total disaster. This particular location really bad. They never restock anything and the people shopping in here are scary. You will wait on line for a 45 minutes and likely want to crawl out of your own skin for setting foot in this freak show. Avoid the Newton Walmart at all costs. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE at Newton, NJ location! My grandmother tried to make a purchase with an OTC card from her insurance Amerigroup that is only redeemable at Walmart. The cashier told us she had no idea how to use the card and gave us push back around using it. After explaining to her we can only use this card at Walmart we insisted she tried to run it so we can complete our purchases. She gave us an attitude and advised we needed to pay a balance of $35. When we asked which item was not covered and coming up as $35 she said she didn't know and was not able to check. She stated we just needed to pay it and that's all she could say. When we requested to speak to a manager she then went on to state that she can call one of the managers but it was wasting time because they were going to say the same thing. The manager eventually came over and said they were not able to assist us and the items were not returnable if we figured out through the receipt which item was the one coming up with a charge. It is completely ridiculously to believe that a POS system does not show a price for any given item. It is even more ridiculous that a cashier or a manager isn't aware of a card that is EXCLUSIVE to Walmart. Please train your staff and hire individuals who don't act like they hate their job or are bothered by your customers!! read more

Pharmacy dept. Is a complete sh*t show! The "equal opportunity employment" pharmacists are complete IDIOTS! I had 3 epidural shots done in my spine in the last month. The first one I had done, got a prescription from my doc for pain medication, went to Walmart and was told in very broken English the pharmacist feels I've had too many pills and won't fill my scrip for another week! Apparently in India pharmacists know better than the doctors. So I had to walk out the door with my cane in tow and with no scrip Cuz she wouldn't return the paper from my doctor! So a pain filled week later, I had dropped off another prescription from my doctor after an appointment I had that day and again was told it would not be filled Cuz my last refill shouldn't have ran out yet, my doc upped my dosage during the week and my pills ran out twice as quick. I am taking a medication that if stopped abruptly can cause severe seizures, that didn't matter to the pharmacist I had to call my doc and have him straighten her out. So again in pain and with cane, wife and newborn baby in tow we head to Walmart. My wife calls ahead to make sure it's ready for pick up, and was told it would be 20 mins so it's a 30 min trip from my house, no problem, right? WRONG! We get there and are told they can't fill it Cuz they don't have enough pills, to remind you "severe seizures" if stopped, so after a waste of a trip I tell them that this is no good and I need the meds. so I get a two day supply and have to limp in two days later to deal with the human trash behind the counter for the last time ever!
