They also have a small selection of off-season items, so if you need a pair of shorts in the dead of winter or a coat in the middle of summer, you might find what you need here. They have a huge selection of regular sizes, petites and plus sizes. They have mostly business attire, but they also have casual wear and evening gowns. I love how I can actually buy evening gowns here off the rack and not need any alterations (albeit only from their petite line). So all you short and slim ladies (e.g. 0P and 2P) who have a hard time finding formal wear that doesn't require paying an arm and a leg for alterations, this is the place for you. Selection is not that great for these very small sizes, but I have purchased many gala dresses here (and a fraction of the regular price). This location also carries a good amount of Joseph Ribkoff, Frank Lyman and Katherine Barclay. Although they usually start at size 8. So great for normal sized people, but not for those wee like me :( I will be the first to admit that many items at Laura/Melanie Lyne are matronly and frumpy, but they also have some more fashionable pieces (although I guess "fashionable" is in the eye of the beholder). I go here often so I can swipe up those pieces at a good price. They have fitting rooms both at the front and at the back of the store. There are washrooms at the back (in with the fitting rooms). This Laura/Melanie Lyne is in a strip mall, so there is a lot of free parking.

Once upon a time, I used to go to Costco with my brother pretty regularly (he has a membership). It was part of our hanging out time, and I loved it. I remember once a few years ago I was in a mall and there was a kiosk set up to sell Costco memberships. They were giving out free stuff, so I had to stop and take a look, haha. The man asked me if I was a Costco member and I said no, but my brother was and he'd take me every week or two, so I was familiar with Costco. He told me if I got my own membership I could go anytime I wanted, but if going to Costco was this thing my brother and I did and it was our quality time together then I shouldn't get my own membership and just continue to go with my brother. I thought that was such a lovely thing to say. And he ended up giving me the free cookies or chocolate or whatever it was they were giving out anyway, lol. Well fast forward to present day and my brother is super busy with his kids, his work and other stuff and we haven't been to Costco together now for several years. He still goes regularly, but on his own right at opening on a weekend (he's on the other side of town, and I'm not an early bird, so I definitely don't go with him). He still buys me stuff when I ask him like Craisins, pumpkin seeds and almond butter (staples in my house), but I don't get to browse and see what's new in the warehouse. What precipitated me getting a membership, believe it or not, was a jar of avocado mayo. I love avocado mayo (I'm talking 100% of the oil used is avocado oil, not the Hellman's Avocado mayo that's mostly canola oil with a bit of avocado oil mixed in) but it's expensive as hell at grocery stores (like $15 for a tiny 355ml jar). When I saw in the Costco flyer that a 946ml jar was only $9.49 I immediately asked my brother to buy it for me. However, it's only available at regular Costcos and my brother only goes to the Costco Business Centre these days. What's an avocado mayo loving girl to do in this situation? Get her own Costco membership and buy a jar herself! My husband and I were in Kanata for an afternoon function, so we decided to head over to this Kanata Costco to buy a membership and the avocado mayo. We were served by Ziny at the Customer Service Desk, who was very courteous, informative and helpful. We got our memberships and headed into the warehouse. This location is smaller than most Costcos and their food court area is also very small. They don't have a gas station either. Anyway, we found the avocado mayo and it was even $0.50 less than advertised ($8.99). Score! We picked up a few other items too. They were giving out samples of various items, but most of them were either not of interest to me, or there were hoards of people crowding around. Now I like free stuff, but my dislike of crowds is stronger, so I kept going. I did manage to get a sample of some S'mores clusters ;) It was my first time at this Kanata Costco. I heard that the plan is to close it and open a new location at the Tanger Outlets that will be bigger and have a gas station. There is no timeline that I know of, and it's just what I heard, so not sure if it will happen. Anyway, that's my Costco story. This location is across from the Kanata Centrum. Employees are always kind at check out but I wish there were a few more on the floor. It's a big place and I can never find what I need the most! Things get moved around so much or get discontinued so if you see something great, buy it! Samples... ugh. I'm always hungry as I get so busy, I forget to eat. Yum. I love everything they serve. Unless egg or mayo related. Customers are usually friendly and one has to be understanding in this place as the shopping carts are huge! I love looking at seasonal items, avoid the sweets, clothing and books. And the cold rooms, brrr! I tend to buy all my paper products there and am addicted to their croissants. Sooo many in a batch tho so I like to give some away while fresh as they don't freeze well. I buy hamburger and cut it 4 times to freeze as I am an expert now at pasta sauce for my lasagna and chili. I bought recently a heated blanket I'm in love with and want another one but I think they are all gone now. Gotta love finding deals at Outlets especially the sale or clearance items as most stores had great deals to be had. It is hard to walk out empty handed with all the popular brands. With plenty of parking, a decent food court and many shops, Tanger is a nice shopping mall to find some deals.

The deals were really good too Old Navy was solid as usual and even Lululemon had that 2 for $100 leggings thing. They have QR codes everywhere so you can just scan and join their rewards/app on the spot and get coupons while you shop which is kinda nice, didn't feel complicated. The vibe was cute too there's like a fire pit in the middle (even though it was sunny lol), music playing, and I swear I smelled mini donuts at one point with some bangers playing lol Also random tip but if you're signed up with Lindt you can get free chocolate bag for your birthday (and like up to 30 days after). Only thing is the food area is super small, like a couple spots, so don't expect a full food court. But honestly you won't really care because there's a lot to walk through. Would go back for sure.

They don't have a lot of higher end stuff here though. I don't think they even have a "Contemporary Designers" section, or if they do, it is very small. No luxury brands like Gucci, Valentino, Veneta Bottega, etc. In Ottawa, I don't think Winners carries luxury brands. I've only seen them at the Marshalls in Trainyards (same parent company). Anyway to give you an idea of the deals, I got a pair of Tsubo pumps here once for $26, and a pair of lambskin Cole Haan espadrilles for $36 - both on clearance of course. Although full disclosure: my feet are not a popular size (5). It's in a strip mall in Bells Corners - same mall as Shopper's Drug Mart, Metro and Mark's. Lots of free parking.

As luck would have it, I was in the purse section and saw a purple Kipling purse that was both compact and on sale. $10 off the regular price?! Yes, it's mine! I was so pleased with this purchase. It's not every day when you snatch the perfect small purse for $25. This Winners, in particular, has the most extensive selection of records (vinyl for those who didn't grow up with a record player) that I have ever seen. I was impressed and spent some time flipping through all the titles. The gourmet food section is great. I found vegan candy, lots of tea varieties, and more. Unfortunately, every time I have been stopping by, the shelves have been sparse, and almost empty, with the same products sitting on the shelves week after week. The turnover on the products have not been great at all. I love how they have a jewelry counter, but its always difficult to get merchandise shown to you because the one staff working that counter is always swamped, or with another customer. Sometimes you have to wait around 5+ minutes to see something. I usually give up and walk away and return when the customers have left the counter. The juniors section has had the same clothes sitting on the racks for the last few weeks. I am guessing the reason is because it is between seasons. I have rarely had a problem with customer service, although recently the cashier charged me twice for a shirt, but that was because we were having so much fun chatting about leg warmers. :) I noticed on my receipt when I got home about the double charge, and called the store and was told that I just need to bring in my receipt and it will all be taken care of. The hubby did so for me the next day, and the cashier tried to put up a fight, but it was all taken care of in the end. The line ups at the checkout are not too bad during the week, but you can be waiting in line for a while during the weekend. Although I prefer the Bayshore Winners, this location is a quick fix for me, and sometimes I find some really great finds here.

The Long Version: This T&T Supermarket location is in Hazeldean Mall in Kanata. It's where the Laura's Your Independent Grocer used to be. It just opened at the end of October 2024. We went the beginning of November 2024 so it was still brand spanking new. I took my parents here to check it out and see how it compares with the other location on Hunt Club. Our consensus was this Kanata location is smaller with less selection than the original location. We were happy to visit and see what it's all about, but since the Hunt Club location is closer to us, we'll continue to go to that location instead. The bakery section at this Kanata location is much smaller, as is the prepared foods section. I also noticed that they use sesame seeds in a lot more of their sushi than the Hunt Club location. As someone who can't eat sesame seeds and can rarely buy prepackaged sushi, this made me sad. They have dim sum and Chinese BBQ and also an area to eat the food you purchase. It's good court style seating. I did notice their impressive selection of imported Lay's chips. Their selection was comparable to the other location in this regard. I doubt I will return unless I'm already in the area for another reason because it's far from my home and I rather go to the Hunt Club location, but I think it's great for Kanata residents. And it's breathing some much needed life into Hazeldean Mall. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot. (200)

The inside of the store is clean, the lighting is good, there's a lot of parking & direct access by bus. The only negative I would give to this store is that the aisles are a bit on the smaller side, and I can see this getting really busy. I went on a Thursday, it wasn't too busy but I was still having to navigate around people and bumping into a few others. Also, if you are someone that likes making soups and stocks you can get chicken bones here for $1 per pound

The change rooms are always full/busy. I love shopping for my jacket fetish and concert t-shirts. Seasonal stuff is fun and they display it well all in one area. Jeans. Work out stuff. Hats. Sunglasses. Shoes. Boots. If the store was any bigger, it would be overwhelming!! I rarely leave here empty handed.
