I pass it quiet frequently and always wanted to stop in, but it was never on the top of my priority list, especially with so many other thrift stores on that street. I had some Christmas items that I wanted to donate, and thought, this is my chance to check out Bibles for Missions. I could tell just from stepping up to the donation door that they bombarded with donations. The donation door was wide open and there were a couple of workers in the back, no greeting, acknowledgment, or thank you, so I plopped my donation down and decided to check out the store. The first thing that I noticed were the signs placed in the entrance "please leave big purses and bags at cash, we reserve the right to search your bag," and so on. Maybe there has been a lot of theft? Not sure, but it did not give me a friendly first impression. No greeting, or acknowledgment throughout the 15 minutes browsing the store, but there were plenty of staff on the sales floor for customer assistance/questions. I did not find that there was a great selection, it was like walking through grandmas basement. Nothing caught my eye here, and I was not "wowed" by anything in particular. What stands out about this thrift store than others, is that it is mostly volunteers, and the majority of the profit goes towards their partnership with the bible league of Canada. So it's more like a discount store or a bargain store. Nonetheless, they have lots of cool stuff. They have tons of arts and crafts items. If you are a scrapbooker, you will find lots of scrap book materials here! This store has a lot of party accessories (e.g. for bridal showers, baby showers, milestone birthdays, etc.). They also have lots of mylar balloons that you can choose from and they will fill them with helium right there for you. They have the usual dollar store items as well. It's located in the Chapman Mills Marketplace in Barrhaven, so lots of free parking. It's near the Dairy Queen.

For me this is essential, as I look after the coffee club at work. This store sells a Krupps expresso maker with a milk frother attached, for just $79.00!! Altogether too often, I'm finding these attrociously expensive machines (in the range of $1,200, but some at $3,000 or higher!!) for some thing I would personally not use enough to make the tremendous expense worth while. So, I will have to bear this in mind, depending what happens with the machine we currently have which recently broke. Either I fix that one at a reasonable price, or I run back to this store and pick up this little cutie! Oh my, are we ever spoiled at work! Well, you need SOMEthing to look so forward to! Imagine having an office where you can get better coffee than else where! Yehaw!! Aside from that piece of wonderfulness, they have a wide variety of those hanger-things for your shower (where there's never enough shelving for the shampoos and other shower essentials). Of course, they sell bed sheets - individually, and in sets, bath towels, dishes, and all kinds of stuff. All in all, this was another fun place to wander around in and look around. There are bigger Winners outlets than this one, but this one served our purposes for this visit. I was also pleased that Winners would allow refunds on items purchased in a different city. There's something about how the clothes are hung and displayed on movable metal racks that reminds me of Value Village and other such stores. It's not as cramped here thought.

It is hard not to find anything at HomeSense that is not priced reasonably. Like other reviewers have mentioned, since it is located on Merivale Road, it should be avoided on the weekends. Not only that but avoid this location on Monday's as well, the stock is usually low, and the store is left with all the "left overs" from the weekend, that did not sale. Usually give it a day or two for the staff to load up the shelves with new goodies after their weekend rush. Best time to shop is Tuesday-Friday in the evening or morning. Minus the drive on Merivale the trip to Homesense was pretty good. This Homesense is massive! There are a lot of items at this store and like most Homesense's the stock changes weekly. There were a lot of items for the house, some nice, some awfully hard to look at! The good thing about this Homesense is that there are a lot of items for pretty reasonable prices. I'd recommend going on a weekday as Merivale seemed like a zoo today and I hear it's like that on weekends.
