My relationship with Belk will continue. I did learn a lesson and that is to check my bag or watch the clerk for accuracy and to ask for an email receipt and a printed one. Thank you Erin for making this situation better! I can now share this updated experience! Keep your receipt IF you get one! I take complete ownership for not checking my bag to make sure the clerk placed it in my bag and not just the items. (it was a group of clerks laughing and having a good time and my clerk was involved in the conversation so guess that is why I didn't receive a receipt). Got home to find that I had purchased the wrong size in exact same item I had purchased previously. The sad part is-I used gift cards so there was no record or way to trace the transaction. Could not even exchange for exact item, only needed different size. My option was to pay more money! Just be conscious to ensure you get your receipt because there are no exceptions. Due to this, I returned $125+ of other merch purchased the same day that I had receipts for and the CC paperwork too all was in my bag but the one receipt! I was trying to get the last item which was Greek yogurt . As I approached the the location of my item there was yogurt in the floor which I could not see because I had a grocery cart I stepped to get my item and slipped in the yogurt I haveva huge knot on my right leg and my knee on the left has something going on with that . the associates were kind of rude and I had to put my hospital bill on my Medicare lost my job because I could not use a clutch on a 13 speed dump truck. I have spoken with these people 1 time and when you are 65 there's no way you can make it on social security without a job which I did have until after this fall . this store always has boxes or stuff that those shoppers spill and just walk around it. They try to run you over while shopping for people that can't come to the store or just too lazy. I have a letter from them but that's not helping me at all . I was perfectly fine and had a job before this happened now I'm not. I guess when you are older and go to Walmart you need 2 more sets of eyes before you go in . The sil lining to this is the only thing that kept me from breaking something was the cart . I'm scared to go in that particular store now for fear of falling.

For many years this and Sears were the staple department stores, but they are age and inability to keep up with the market is definitely showing. There are some vintage like items that you can only get in JCPenney, but their prices for things like Home goods, which I was actually looking for, we're so high compared to other similar retailers Like Kohl's and discount places like TJ Maxx and Marshalls. They definitely can't hold a candle to Amazon and other online retailers offering a wider variety of items at cheaperprice point. They've also tried to add things like a specific cosmetic area which used to be a partner with Sephora, but I think that relationship has ended and so it really is a sad reflection of a store, whose time is probably long gone. I hate to see JCPenney go away of Sears, but I think that will happen soon.
