One of their employees came out to assist and discovered that the ones we purchased were the wrong size. After a quick refund/replacement he helped finish the task at hand and she was legally on the road. Grateful to have been able to find this out at the store instead of at home, requiring another trip! The pros: - 10% Military Discount (you have to ask) - Free diagnostic checks - Assistance with minor installations (wiper blades, bulbs, license plate frame) - Tools for use - AutoZone Rewards (earn savings with purchases) The cons: - Always busy - You have to ask for help - Military status isn't in my profile While I don't ever look forward to shopping here, when I do, the pros outweigh the cons. Keep some cash on hand to tip in appreciation of the extra services provided (regardless of whether it's free)!

I was about 40 miles from home when my truck suddenly shut down while driving on I-5. Thankfully, I managed to get over to the shoulder safely. The truck would crank weakly but wouldn't turn over. I suspected the battery or alternator had gone bad. Before I did anything else, I contacted my roadside assistance provider--only to find out that my account had been accidentally canceled due to an expired card. They told me it would take 72 hours to reactivate, so I was stranded with no backup and 40 miles from home. Towing was going to be way too expensive, and I had very few options. That's when I called the Oregon City AutoZone. I spoke with Nicholas, who quickly found the correct battery for my vehicle. I told him where I was and asked--half expecting a no--if there was any chance he could bring it to me. At first, he was understandably unsure, but he said "hold on a second," and put me on hold. When he came back, he said, "I'll bring it to you." I was blown away. Within 20 minutes, Nicholas showed up on the side of I-5, not only with the battery but he installed it for me as well--completely unexpected and incredibly generous. Once the battery was in, I was able to start the truck and drive to the store. Nicholas was heading out for lunch, so Fernando stepped in and tested my alternator, which turned out to be fine. But when I tried to start the truck again, I had the same issue--a weak crank and no start--and then we both caught a whiff of burnt electrical smell. At that point, the starter was the likely culprit. I went back inside and bought a new starter, and the team loaned me every tool I needed to replace it right there in the parking lot. It didn't take long, and when I finished, the truck fired right up and ran perfectly. What could have been an expensive, frustrating, and exhausting day turned out to be manageable, thanks to the above-and-beyond service from Nicholas, Fernando, and the rest of the AutoZone crew. I was in a tough spot with no help and very few options--and these guys stepped up when they didn't have to. Thank you, Nicholas and AutoZone Store #1689--you've earned a customer for life.

OMG I can't say enough good things about Michael, manager of this location! I wasn't even a…read morecustomer of theirs. But he saw that I had stalled out in the middle of traffic on Lancaster road on his way home. Like this dude wasn't on the clock or getting paid (spoiler alert I tried to give him cash and he said no, cause he didn't stop to help because he wanted a customer or money, he stopped to help me and my mom because it was the "right" thing to do.) Like wtf who does that anymore? He got my car to the next parking lot entrance and instead of that being "that's my good deed for the day" he stayed with me for the next at least 30 minuets making literally 18 trips to (somewhere, I hope he hope he didn't pay for the that many water bottles) to fill up little water bottles to fill up my apparently leaky coolant tank with water. He talked to me about what was wrong and gave me advice about how to get home safe, etc.... and this dude, you will not believe actually offered to follow me all the way down Lancaster till it was time for me to pull off into my neighborhood. Like I know this could come of as creepy to women, but he didn't follow me home, he just was there to make sure I didn't stall out on such a dangerous main road! l literally cried in relief that he just stepped out of his way in such a good hearted way, with gaining nothing for himself! Back to the spoiler above, I tried to repay he with the cash I had in my wallet.... his response was that he just did what he believed anyone should do and he couldn't believe that so many cars passed us without offering to help. To elaborate a little on why we needed help so desperately, neither my mom or me had our cell phones charged and we were basically just stuck in holding up a busy main street, terrified and waiting for someone to call the cops to get rid of us. So in conclusion, I have never been a customer of this Valvoline location, but knowing the kind of management that is running this place I am NEVER going anywhere else! Literal hero there, thank you so much to Manager Michael!

They intentionally don't have the cheaper oil so they can upsell the more expensive one. Scummyread more
