I have been coming to Monroe Muffler since I learned how to drive. That is my whole family's go-to…read moreshop. I have never had an issue with any of their shops. However, I went there to get the right headlight lightbulb changed and the next day, after they changed it, it went out on my way to work. I called the next day and left a message hoping they'd call back (as the voicemail said they would). By Friday they hadn't called and I had had a work trip the next week so I decided to deal with it when I got back. The Monday I returned home I called again and this time they answered. I asked them relook at it but they told me they did not want to see it again and told me to take it to another shop to ensure there wasn't an electrical issue. I took it to this place, and the mechanic there said there was no issue with the electrical but he said the light bulb was possibly Korean and he wasn't sure if that is why it wasn't working, or if maybe it wasn't clicked all the way. He charged me $108 (including tax) for his time and switching out the light bulb. I went back to Monroe Muffler the next day to ask for a refund for the work they had done. The manager was not there so I explained the situation to the mechanic on duty. He instantly yelled at me claiming everything I was saying was complete BS and there was no way that they could have messed up, he did not calm down until I told him that I was not the one who did the work on the car and was not the one who wanted to go to the other shop. He told me to come back on Saturday when the manager was there. My husband and I went there on Saturday and talked to the manager. He told us that because another mechanic touched the lightbulb after they did that they could not give us a refund. He stated that the other mechanic should not have replaced the lightbulb and we should have come back and that if we wanted a refund, he couldn't do anything about it. When my husband asked why they would have sent me to the other place and risked the other mechanic working on the car vs just double checking it, the manager was very condescending and started going through all the technical reasons why they wouldn't have been able to fix it if it was an electrical issue. However, as that was obviously not the issue, that answer just further bewildered my husband and me at the lack of accountability and professionalism. Monroe Muffler refused to relook at the work of a car to rule out that their work was wrong before sending me to another shop where I was charged $108, AND then refused to refund me for their work that didn't work and said I shouldn't have let the other place work on my car. I will not be going back to this shop which is going to cost me more money, time, and energy.

This did not fix the problem. I called Firestone and was told to bring it in for a test drive when we would be able to recreate the problem. We went for a ride and it was INSISTED that I needed 4 new tires because the rubber was hard and snow/slush was getting stuck in the tread mimicking "bald" tires. My tires were 4 years old, 19000 miles and had a 7 tread depth remaining which should be covered under warranty. So, the woman at the desk picked up the phone, called Goodyear, acted like she were a family member of mine and sent me down there. Once I arrived at Goodyear, I was told there is NOTHING wrong with my tires. Trusting that the Firestone employee (who claimed to have 30 years experience) knew what he was talking about, I called Goodyear corporate and they warrantied my tires (1/2 price, almost $800). This did not fix the problem either (because I DID NOT need tires). Again, go back to Firestone $800 poorer. The new "manager" approached me with a cocky, arms folded, eye rolling attitude and proceeded to say "What would you like us to do about it? Just because you were told to get new tires, didn't mean you HAD to." My truck was unsafe and I am not a mechanic...so yes, I am going to trust that Firestone employees know what they are talking about. I ended up going to Cole Muffler DESPERATE to find a solution as my truck was extremely unsafe to drive in Rochester, NY winters. The problem??? The rear toe (part of the alignment which was the FIRST thing I attempted) was WAY off!!! If Firestone would have done their job in the first place, I would have saved a lot of time, money, aggravation and safety. I have written to the email suggested...got the run around, no call back from corporate and they closed the case without any resolution.

They say the alignment guy was not there so could not do alignment. Took the car to another service center and the front steering and rear coils were shot/broken and alignment could not be done. These brand new tires should have never been installed. Dunn Tire Brockport took the money and ran. They know tires should not be installed on a car that cannot be aligned. They should have told the owner up front instead of selling the tires first. They saw the tires coming off the car were wasted and worn unevenly. And then sold them a warranty that will never be honors because these tires will not have a chance unless the corrections are made. This is sick and should be reported.
