I pulled over, let the engine cool down, and returned to Jiffy Lube. I was told the oil had been overfilled and that brake cleaner had been sprayed on the engine to clean up oil that had spilled during the service. They let the truck idle for about 10 minutes, and the smoke eventually stopped. I then took my truck to the dealer that same day to have it inspected and have it done correctly. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to Jiffy Lube. I would rather have my oil changes done at the dealer going forward.

I've had my 1999 Toyota 4Runner since I was a kid, it was our family car. It has roadtripped cross country multiple times, been shipped to and from Hawaii, and has had its fair share of mountain hills, gravel, and dirt roads. Needless to say, I love my car. But with 300,000+ miles on it, the issue isn't IF it needs to be repaired, but WHAT needs to be repaired. In September 2024, I moved to Sacramento and my car was running smoothly. Fast forward to February 2025, my car's temperature gauge was overheating and coolant was continually disappearing from the reservoir. I took my car to an initial mechanic, he diagnosed a faulty radiator hose. I thought this was odd since I got this part replaced in August 2024. But, if this was case, I needed to take my car to a mechanic within my old mechanics warranty program (TechNet). Enter North Highlands Tire Pros. Following the previous mechanics diagnosis, Rodrigo and his team checked my car's cooling system. They found that the lower hose clamps were loose, and that the upper hose clamps were old and worn, thus causing some coolant leakage. They tightened the clamps and replaced the old ones and performed multiple coolant pressure tests to make sure the system was good to go. But that was not the root of the overheating problem. Although the engine passed multiple block tests, there was excessive white smoke coming from the tail pipes during startup. Upon pulling the spark plugs, they found excess coolant in the combustion chamber and corroded engine cylinders (yikes!), this was the true cause of the overheating. Given the cars age, Rodrigo suggested it was better to replace the whole engine instead of trying to repair the warped/corroded gaskets & cylinders. He sourced 3 low mileage engines (used). The first one had obvious signs of rust and corrosion, and the second one looked clean, but failed during the test drive (cylinders collapsed on themselves & engine had a knocking sound). At this point I was losing hope that my car would ever be fixed, but North Highlands did not give up. Rodrigo and his team personally went to the used parts supplier, inspected and retrieved a 3rd engine, installed said engine, and took it on multiple test drives (100 miles: local roads & freeway) before releasing the car back to me. I appreciate how detailed, hardworking, and honest these mechanics & technicians are. They took the time to inspect my car holistically and found the root of the overheating problem. If I went with the initial mechanic, I would have unnecessarily paid $200+ to get a perfectly good radiator hose replaced and still would have had engine overheating problems! Choosing to replace my car's original engine with a used, lower-mileage engine, I understood that it was a gamble to get a good, used engine that functions well without problems. I am so grateful for North Highlands' attention to detail and honest work ethic. The team inspected and tested the 3 engines out, reporting honestly when an engine didn't meet standards and did not charge me for the additional labor hours it took to take out and install the 2 faulty engines. My car has been running great since with no weird noises or suspicious smoke. Although my car was in the shop for over a month (due to setbacks in getting a functioning used-engine), the repair was top notch and very high quality! North Highlands officially documented my cars diagnosis with pictures/videos and written reports via their online portal. Additionally, Rodrigo personally called to keep me informed on every step of the repair. He patiently explained every step of the repair and gave me constant updates, never making me feel stupid or blindsided. I am so grateful to have gone with Norrh Highlands Tire Pros. It started off with them giving us a couple cold sodas while we waited. We mentioned to the team (Noah & Jermerl) that we were sort of in a hurry, so they accommodated our schedule while delivering a superb, high quality service. They weren't pushy on any of the extras and the most impressive part was this: I had purchased a wiper blade for the rear wiper but I didn't have the tool to replace it, so it had been sitting in the trunk since last winter. When Noah told us he observed a torn wiper and offered to sell us a replacement, I explained to him that I had a new one but I just couldn't figure out how to replace it myself, he said he'd be happy to do it for me! Stay Away -- Poor Service, Unwanted Charges, and Potential Damage to Your Vehicle…read more I would not recommend this place for an oil change. I brought two of my vehicles in for oil changes only and had a very disappointing experience. For the first vehicle, I paid $147.54 for a full synthetic oil change. I specifically instructed the staff to perform only the oil change, top off any necessary fluids, and set the tire pressure to my preferred specifications. I also explicitly told them not to remove or inspect the air filters because I had new filters at home and knew they were complicated to remove and reinstall. Despite my instructions, the staff proceeded to remove the filters to show me their condition. I reiterated that I did not want them checked or removed. I watched as they struggled to reinstall the filters into the housing assembly. After returning home, I discovered that the clip on the passenger-side air filter housing assembly was broken. Now I have to find and purchase a replacement housing, an unnecessary expense that I believe could have been avoided had they followed my instructions and handled the assembly properly. My experience with the second vehicle raised additional concerns. I paid $158.70 for a conventional oil change, even though the full synthetic oil change for my first vehicle cost $147.54. After reviewing the receipt, I noticed several charges for services and products I had explicitly declined: 33-point service: $104.99 Prime Guard Synthetic: $14.99 Fuel Juels: $15.99 CHTechron Techron Fuel System Cleaner: $16.99 Additional miscellaneous charges I do not understand why I was charged for products and services I declined. Customers should not have to scrutinize their receipts to ensure they are not being billed for unauthorized items. I also felt uncomfortable with the payment process. After I paid using their handheld payment device, the service coordinator took my payment card and returned it along with the receipt. This struck me as unnecessary and raised questions about why my card needed to be taken again after payment had already been completed.

So grateful that Goodyear is close by home!…read more Several weeks ago, the tire pressure alert showed up on my dashboard. Had my husband fill the tires with air and the alert went away. However, a few days later, they came back. I really didn't want to make a trek to the dealership to fix the issue. I vaguely remembered a tire place in this parking lot a few years back when we'd drive around playing Pokemon Go, lol. This Goodyear happens to be a poke stop! :P Went online and was able to make an appointment easily. On the day of my appt, I showed up and they were able to identify the issue and patch up the hole. They also had options if I wanted to replace the tire with a new one too, but I told them we'd do that another time. For the 1.5 hours that it took for them to diagnose and patch up the issue, I was able to walk around some stores in the near vicinity (RC Willey, Grocery Outlet, Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree, Starbucks are all nearby). The fix was reasonably priced too. I haven't had any problems since then with my tires. Very thankful this Goodyear is closeby and convenient for any future tire projects!

I had my dad call them and they requested that we come in to have it looked at. However, when you look at the invoice, the service did not include coil or spark plug wires for a "True" tune-up. Infact, they told my dad that a tune-up would be $600 or more. So why offer services if you cant really do anything about it in the first place. Change of spark plugs alone doesn't do it. So we're not even going to bother coming back and getting it checked out. Stick to oil changes here!!! Nothing else.
