It never feels good to complain about a small family business, especially one with nice people…read more Cahaba Tire checks those boxes of kindness and being a local business. While Cahaba tire may be a great spot for tires (cannot comment on that), it struggles for more complicated diagnostics. In this case, brought in the car with a set of lights blinking on the dashboard and reduced braking capacity. A simple google search or a question to AI would have immediately pinpointed even a novice to the fact that this was an issue with the brake booster, simply based on the codes. Yet, the crew here immediately jumped to diagnosis of a faulty battery with great confidence. After inquiring if it could be the brake booster (as I already searched the codes myself), they assured that it's not. Well, "mechanics know best", so I thought. Who am I to argue with them. Thus, paid for the battery, got it replaced and sure enough, all the lights came back on after half an hour of driving. Bringing the car back to them, they acknowledged the misdiagnosis, yet said they cannot fix the issue with the brake booster and it needs to be taken to a specialized shop. However, they did not offer to comp any part of the initial repair cost to replace a battery that wasn't the problem at hand, which would have been a reasonable thing to do from a customer service standpoint. In other words, owning up to their own mistakes and that they wasted a whole day for the customer. Sadly, that did not happen. While everyone was very kind and appeared genuine, the result as a customer is a wasted day without result at a mechanic shop due to overconfidence of the team here and a cost of a battery that potentially did not need to be incurred that day (which there is no way to know for certain now).

I went to have the tires I purchased earlier in the year rotated and get an oil change. Being…read morethere already, I asked if they could replace the O2 sensor under the car that I had previously purchased. I was charged $145.00 to unscrew and replace a simple part. It is a basic task requiring no longer than five minutes. I paid the extreme amount anyway and left. A mile from the shop, the hubcap flew off and passed the car. After retrieving it from the ditch, it was plain to see that someone had busted it. Additionally, the rear hubcap is also broken. After being sufficiently fleeced by the labor cost, an additional cost of thirty-five dollars was necessary to replace the hubcaps they destroyed. I will never patronize them again, and I cannot recommend their services.

DO NOT GO HERE! THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES, CROOKS, AND LIARS! I went here to repair a leak on ONE of…read moremy tires. It wasn't flat and I was able to drive on it. Multiple things went very wrong for what should have been a very simple repair. First, they couldn't find the key to the wheel lock. They spent forever looking for it and then told me they were gonna have to break the wheel lock off (for an additional charge ofcourse). I asked to look myself and was able to find it in two seconds. It was in plain view on the back seat floor, which is where I told them to look. In the midst of all this, the guy tries to sell me 4 new tires for $890. Mind you there is absolutely nothing wrong with the rest of my tires. My car is only 3 years old and was brand new straight off the lot. I am the only person to ever drive this car. In the middle of his spiel, I tell him no but he ignores me and keeps going. I say no because there is absolutely nothing wrong with my other tires. The entire time I sat in the waiting room they were trying to sell people crap and offer "coupons". Eventually, They are able to look at the wheel and then let me know it just needed a plug. The total came out to $24. I was more than happy with this, thanked them, and got in my car to leave. When I get in my car, it lights up like a Christmas tree. It's saying the collision sensor and a couple of other things are malfunctioning. I go back in and let them know. Then they tell me the battery charge must be low because it may have gotten "cold". I don't know how my battery would've gotten "cold" in the few hours they had my car at that point. Also, why were they doing anything with the battery when I was there for a tire. They claimed they just needed to charge the battery and it would be a quick fix. Annoying, but fine and I go back to the wait room. After about 45 minutes, they come and tell me my battery has magically "died". Again, this car is brand new and only 3 years old. I had a used car from the same brand for much longer that never needed a battery the entire time I had it. There was nothing wrong with my battery beforehand and I got an oil change not too long ago and nothing was wrong with the battery then. They tell me I'm going to need an ENTIRELY NEW BATTERY for $300! Naturally, after this I become irate. I told them it doesn't make sense for my battery to die out of nowhere from the time I brought it into to the shop til then. The guy is giving me an endless amount of excuses about how he's had the same thing happen where he goes to a dealership for one thing and they find a bunch of other issues. During the exchange, the mechanic who worked on the car was standing there and in the middle of it he leaves and goes back to my car. I tell the guy at the counter to give me my damn keys and I'm taking it to another dealership to look at. He brings the car and lets me know that the warning messages have gone away and everything looks fine now. Isn't that funny :) ? 5 minutes prior I had a dead battery that needed to be replaced right away and now it's magically fixed. There is not a doubt in my mind that once they realized the initial repair would cost next to nothing, they messed with the sensors in my car and gave me some bullshit story about the battery. After I made quite the scene, told them I wasn't going to buy a new battery, and would take it to another dealership, the mechanic undid whatever damaged he caused to the sensors to get me out of there and cover their asses. These people are SALESMAN. The only thing they care about is pocketing as much of your money as possible and will try to sell you crap you don't need and even go as far as messing with your vehicle. AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED AND LIED TO.
