I've heard many great things about Wally's, mostly from locals, no-surprise. So I came here one day and checked it out. The indoor part was closed to the public (don't know for how long...) so it was straight up outdoor dining...which, not to sound like a diva but it didn't sit well for me. Yes it was shaded, but if there's a great view to look at or if they have a bug-killing device (there were several bees and flies out that day) I could settle for outdoor seating. Food was fine and the price was nice (this is a cash-only place by the way so yeah...). They assumed that I was going to take it home so they put everything in a bag. No free refills on soda. After driving here from a recommendation we found this restaurant to be clean with ample parking on the outside. After ordering at the window we were told they didn't have soft drinks. They have an outdoor seating area but no indoor seating if that's what you're looking for. We wanted a quick, no-frills, affordable burger and fries and that's what we got...minus the quick part. They have the best burgers you will ever get. Everything is made to order and fresh. It's an absolute classic spot.

Definitely worth the 50 min drive also great lil road-trip. First time having it I was surprised because it looks like a typical burger you grill but it tasted even better cooked perfectly and all the ingredients were fresh! Was disappointed they didn't have their curly fries they were completely out but there will definitely be a next time! The waffle fries were so good and crispy and had just the right flavor. Just go and see for yourself. Perfect burger, cooked to perfection and made fresh every single time. I enjoy doing the 50min drive from St Louis! It's a mini road trip for the family and there's a cute park literally a block over where the kids can play and you can sit and eat if you don't there. Couldn't recommend this place enough and the price is more than fair! Cash only - don't forget. Beloved by my family, now my brothers and I have shared Wally burgers and Ski with our significant others and it's top of their list. It's the kind of food you don't have to get fancy. Good quality and fresh ingredients at reasonable prices. I read about this place in Feast magazine. It was an article about "smashed burgers", thin patties made on a flat top grill. That is a unique taste. We drove 52 miles round trip, nice Labor Day afternoon, from near Scott, AFB. It was worth every mile (plus the rolling countryside and cornfields-love that). The food is great, do get the double at least (if you're a meat eater)- it's a regular home style bun, so not big. Everything tasted fresh, fries were hot. It does take a while but it's clear that each is made at time of order. If you are a busy "city slicker" with a phone plastered to your ear and in a hurry 24/7 this is not your stop. It is very, very middle America. Quiet, no thumping music, no loud conversation (perfect)- at least in the middle of the afternoon- seems like a local hang out. Came here right after I got 50+ bottles of Ski, and let me tell you, it was a grand time spent in Breese...a true taste of Clinton County, Illinois. My double cheeseburger was phenomenal, with just the right amount of flavor and crunch. The meat patties were decently-sized, slightly bigger than what you'd normally find at a place like this. Price was good too. If the burger would have had a little bit of secret sauce, it would be eerily similar to a certain burger fast food chain mainly located on the West Coast! I was out this way and wanted to try what I've been hearing about for years; the famous Wally's. My cousins love it, the locals love it, but me ugh had better. The people are awesome - Both the nice customers who have been coming for years and the teenage waitresses who show so much respect and know their elderly regular customers by name and orders! With that being said, I did not see what the big deal was. Even though the food is all cooked to order, it was just ok. The only thing that stood out was root beer. I heard another first timer in the restaurant say the triple what supposed to taste the best. I was glad to support a local elderly veterans establishment, but not that impressed. However, others are impressed by the food. Maybe it was an off day. They were all very polite, I'll give them that. read more

I've never heard a Wally's food complaint. The burgers are phenomenal and always one step ahead of their neighbor Dairy King. I only hear of people choosing Dairy King over Wallys because it is bigger inside or there are too many people at Wally's. Hands down better food, better drinks, better service. You feel like you stepped into a time machine with its old-time aesthetic. I always feel like I'm a kid eating lunch with my grandpa again. Every time I am in the area, a Wally Burger and a bottle of Ski is just what I crave. This is the place to be, just get there before the crowd. read more

Just picked up 2 double cheeseburgers, an order of onion rings, and a chocolate malt. All this for $13 and change. The burgers are awesome! The onion rings are crazy good. The malt was a little thin but still good. One thing to note: Wally's doesn't accept credit cards, cash or check only. I will stop at Wally's any time I'm through Breese. read more
