Portillo's has nothing on this place. If you want true, authentic, delicious Chicago style food, you need to check out Wise Guys right away! I am a big fan of the Italian beef sandwich and had to try that for my first visit. It did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection and the service was quick and friendly! The aromas are even tasty! It reminds me of being back in the small Chicago suburban diners. I used to visit as a kid. I look forward to returning and I will try the gyro next time!

Better than expected! The gyros are huge and VERY tasty. The service is good and the building is kept up better than most old fast food joints. It's both clean and well maintained. We were able to pull some tables together for a large group and share. For your money, it's a smart place to eat.

This AUTHENTIC Chicago style food. This took me back to my childhood of eating Italian Beefs from Frankies II or Mr. Beef and Pizza! The even asked me if I wanted it dipped? OF COURSE!! It was delicious and messy but I LOVED IT! The restaurant was very clean inside and service was fast.

I placed the order online for pickup. When I got there I was immediately greeted and they told me my order was almost ready, and said that they were getting my fries extra crispy (I had put that in as a request). We ordered the corn dog for my daughter, Italian beef dry, with sweet and hot peppers added, and the double gyro plate. Additionally I ordered extra fries as it wasn't clear that they were included in the meals (they were). My Italian beef was huge for the price and my husband loved the gyro plate. Fries were extra crispy and corn dog was fresh. Will definitely eat here again.

Yummy! I took the food out the bag and I could smell the seasonings! I was excited to take a bite! First, good customer service all around. I was greeted pleasantly at the drive-thru intercom and again good customer service at the window. Food came out in a reasonable time. The gyro sandwich was delicious! Tons of meat and the perfect amount of sauce. The fries were very good and seasoned well. I'm subtracting one star because the fries at the bottom of fry bag were undercooked and soggy. Very disappointing. I will definitely return!

I really didn't have high expectations prior to coming in and I was totally shocked at how good the food was. I had the italian beef sandwich and fries. I had it dipped so it was more so an open face sandwich but still had good flavor. And not to mention the staff www very friendly. They brought out our food and even were asking every customer how their meal was. Not a bad little joint.

Delicious gyros, just be prepared for a wait at the drive-thru. Overall positive experience.

I came here to try their Italian beef sandwiches and the Chicago dog. Both were very good. The Italian beef was huge for the $7.5 price tag. Probably a 7 inch sandwich. It came with lots of flavorful roast beef and I added sweet and hot peppers for $1. Best upgrade every. This sandwich was flavorful and spicy. There were some jalapeños on it. You could have it dry or dunked. I elected for Au jus. It is pictured, although i had taken 2 bites out of the sandwich. The Chicago dog was good. The bun was a little softer than others I have had. The dog was spot on. The baklava looked good but I wasn't that hungry. I'll have to try the gyros next time. They can out to the table next to me and it looked and smelled scrumptious. I can't get over how clean they keep this place. It has been a progression over many visits. But the bathroom was immaculate. The floors immaculate. Don't miss out on this place.

Two words: PIZZA PUFF. If you're not from Chicago, you may not understand how exciting it is to find a pizza puff in Swansea. We ordered a bunch of classics- Maxwell, beef, spud, curds, fries. We gave the food a general 3 stars. It was ok! One note is that the gravy was wrong. This gravy was kind of clear like a consommé whereas Chicago gravy is much more concentrated. Space is super clean, and customer service was 5 stars. Patient, informative, checked in, order was right. 3 for the food but the service gave a whole extra star.

Gyros, Chicago dogs, and Italian beef are our GO-TO's! For us, this is our Portillos. We get our Chicago fix much closer to home.

Husband, myself, and one of the kids joined me for dinner here. I was excited to try this place out…read moresince it reopened. ( I never had the chance to try when it was originally open) They were busy! Which I did expect as downtown belleville had a few things going on. They were so busy that sadly they were out of meatloaf and limited on some hoagie type Sandwich. I ordered the pub burger with the garlic mashed potatoes. The burger itself wasn't bad a little too salty than I'm use to. I swore I asked the waitress for the garnishes to be put on the side but they had it all on the burger. ( no big deal) the garlic mashed potatoes was a staple according to a guest that was talking to us as they left. They were good. Mine came out a little on the almost past the Luke warm stage ( I was a little bummed on that). Our oldest ordered the bone in wings buffalo flavor as a meal ( it's an appetizer) she said those were good. We also shared their French onion dip with chips. Husband had the same pub burger but he got his with steak fries. He wast thrilled that he couldn't order the burger in rare form. He too thought the burger itself was a little on the saltier aside. The prices seemed a little steep on some of the menu. ( expected on steaks and fish) I had to give them a bit of grace with all the chaos going on. Our server was kind and attentive. They didn't have much options for the festive drinks. I ordered their thin mint martini. I'd love to give them another shot in the future when it's less chaotic and they have food we want available. I will say th bar itself is cute. Reminds me of cheers. They had their front area setup with fire pits/heat lamps and tables to enjoy some hot chocolate that was only $3 for reg but if you wanted to "boozie" it up it would depend on the alcohol. They had cookies out from The cookie stroll that they offered for free. Then had a nice set up for those interested in making s'mores! Charlie's is located within historic downtown Belleville on the corner of Abend. There is only street side parking available. Keep in mind they do have breakfast or brunch too on weekends.

Food was mid - maybe 5/10 but we were hungry. Check your food - as there was hair on our bun. Sandwich was replaced but then new bun was burnt. We did not complain because pick your battles. Due to us having a party of 11, split by 3 families, they charged us 18% gratuity, which is fine, but buyer beware - they charge 3% for using a card, which was not listed on the ticket or told to us prior to giving our server the card with ticket. Didn't find out until they ran our card and gave it back for us to sign. Otherwise we would have used cash. Overall, would likely not eat here again.

Then the person who brought the food out came out asking me if we were supposed to get beer cheese. We said yes and she asked what I was drinking. She left the beer cheese which was cold She said she would bring more tea. 10 minutes later she brought the tea. We finished our meals and about 20 minutes after we were done she finally came back to ask if we need boxes and we asked for the check. My hubby had the chicken wrap which he said was pretty good. She brought the check at 1:47pm and after waiting 10 minutes for her to collect it we walked up to the bar and paid her in cash so we could go. The food is wonderful here just don't expect the best attentive service. - can't win them all. I'm not sure if they need to have additional staff or if they need a better system for serving. We will try a third time and see if it's the charm only because the food is really good. :)

When I arrived, the place was empty. Maybe 2 tables with patrons. I gave them my name for my reservation, and they sat me at the bar... I was not happy. I wanted a table to MYSELF. I could have just walked in for that. I did express my disappointment for making a reservation and still being sat at the bar, but I just stayed at the bar (why?? IDK). The music was SUPER loud at the bar; I expressed that and they adjusted the sound, which was nice! The actual space is BEAUTIFUL. Old building, but elevated decor. PERFECT for date night or girls' night. The bathroom is gorgeous and clean; there's a huge, gorgeous mirror right outside for you to take pics in. See below, lol. I told the bartender what brought me in and he congratulated me. Very kind! He helped guide me through the menu and informed me of the 5 & 10 course options. I decided to go with a la carte items. The menu had a lot of upscale items, that I would prob never try, i.e. frog legs & caviar, or items I'm allergic to, lol. I started with the dead leaves and the dirty ground for my drink. It was good. Not too sweet. I opted for the Pasta Burro e Parmigiano. I mean... It was good. Nothing to write home about. It honestly gave buttered noodles with parm cheese & truffle. I low key want to come back and try the halibut or the poutine fries. My bill was $50+ and I left hungry. I think I will come back when I'm spending someone else's money.

I took my boyfriend here last night for his 24th birthday celebration, and boy did it exceed every expectation. When we first arrived, we were taken aback by the waterfall feature at the front door. We genuinely thought we were at the wrong entrance. Turns out it was entirely intentional, and in the excitement of the evening, we forgot to ask about the story behind it. A fun little mystery to solve on our next visit. We arrived about 30 minutes early and were welcomed warmly from the moment we walked in. The staff gave us a lovely intimate table with a great view of the restaurant's eclectic decor and designs. The ambiance struck the perfect balance, lively and engaging without being so loud that we could not have a real conversation, which for my partner and me is genuinely one of the most important aspects of a dining experience. Since we both work incredibly busy schedules, this was not only a birthday celebration but our first proper date night in quite a while, and the atmosphere made it feel truly special. The staff even surprised us with a complimentary prosecco for the birthday, something we were absolutely not expecting and deeply appreciated. On the drinks side, although I am not personally a big drinker, my boyfriend loves exploring new spirits and cocktail combinations. The bartenders were fantastic: knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely enthusiastic about their recommendations across both wines and spirits. They made the whole experience feel curated rather than transactional. Now, let me tell you about Jelly. Our server Jelly was, without question, the highlight of the entire evening, and that is saying a lot given how spectacular everything else was. I have a severe pineapple allergy, and if you dine out with food allergies, you know the usual routine. The server writes it down, maybe glances at it when the food arrives, and you spend the whole meal quietly hoping for the best. Jelly was on an entirely different level. She went completely above and beyond, meticulously checking every food option and wine pairing to ensure nothing contained pineapple and that there was zero risk of cross contamination. When a wine bottle did not clearly list its ingredients, she did not guess or assume. She looked it up on the internet right then and there to confirm it was safe for me. That gesture might sound simple, but for someone with a severe allergy, it is everything. It communicates that she genuinely cared about my wellbeing, not just about getting through her tables for the night. I felt completely taken care of, safe, and able to relax and enjoy myself without the anxiety that usually accompanies dining out with an allergy. Jelly, if you ever read this: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are exceptional at what you do and an absolute asset to Blood & Sand. And now, the food, which was nothing short of breathtaking. From the presentation, to the pacing and timing, to the extraordinary depth of flavor on every plate, the food at Blood & Sand is spectacular and amazing in the truest sense of both words. My boyfriend and I had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. We had originally hoped for the 10 course, but it was not being offered that evening. No matter, because the 5 course delivered more than enough to leave us completely floored. The evening opened with a palate initiator of carrots, goat cheese, and walnuts. I will be honest, I was not excited. Carrots and goat cheese are genuinely two of my least favorite foods on the planet. But I gave it a try and it was absolutely heavenly. A perfect encapsulation of what this kitchen does: it takes ingredients you think you know and transforms them into something you cannot stop thinking about. My absolute favorites of the evening were the tuna carpaccio, the wagyu flank steak, and the pierogis. Each one was cooked and composed to perfection. Everything melted in my mouth and left me wishing the courses would never end. My one constructive note is on the oyster course. I love oysters and eat them often, so I was genuinely looking forward to this one. The portion, two very small oysters with modest accompaniments of horseradish, a small salsa, and lemon, felt a little light even by tasting menu standards. I would love to see either four oysters at that size or two larger ones. It was gone so quickly and felt slightly out of step with the generosity of every other course. That small note aside, Blood & Sand delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had in a long time. Every single person on that floor, from the bartenders to the host to the incredible Jelly, went above and beyond to make the night comfortable, fun, intimate, and genuinely special. We will absolutely be back, and next time I will not wait so long given that I practically live next door.
